Splurge: Former First Lady Michelle Obama’s Italy Teija One Shoulder Poplin Top

Former First Lady Michelle Obama strolled casually through the streets of Italy clad in a $397 Teija One Shoulder Poplin Shirt:

The single shoulder blouse features an elbow-length sleeve that’s nonchalantly finished with a self-tie cuff, and falls from a bandeau-style neck into a flattering pleated front with a draped panel for further definition.

The former First Lady paired her top with white AG denim jeans and a white Jimmy Choo purse.

Even while vacationing, she exudes style, class and grace.  I love it!

You can purchase her blouse here for $397.

What do you think?  Would you splurge on her top?

On the Scene: The Killing Of A Sacred Deer 70th Annual Cannes Film Festival Screening with Eva Longoria in Marchesa, Jourdan Dunn and Sonam Kapoor in Elie Saab Couture , Jasmine Sanders in Ulyana Sergeenko, and More!

The Killing Of A Sacred Deer 70th Annual Cannes Film Festival Screening went down the other night with a litany of hot looks!

Take a gander at the best from the red carpet:

Let’s be honest: Eva Longoria shuts Cannes down every year. This tulle Marchesa Pre-Fall 2017 gown was utter perfection.

Jourdan Dunn rocked a sheer, floral embroidered Elie Saab Couture gown for the occasion. She’s another one who is taking Cannes by storm!

Sonam Kapoor was gilded in a gold tulle embroidered gown, also from Elie Saab Couture. Easily one of the best dressed of the week…perhaps even the year.

Jasmine Sanders sizzled in a navy Ulyana Sergeenko design. Hot!

Andie Macdowell joined the sheer gown party in a black floral lace Roberto Cavalli Couture number. This is what 59 looks like y’all. I’m taking notes.

Miuccia Prada doesn’t make a ton of red carpet appearances, but she was on hand in a matching jacquard set and flirty shoes. So cute!

Sara Sampaio was white hot in a transparent, ruffle lace Francesco Scognamiglio gown.

On the Scene: The 70th Annual Cannes Film Festival Fashion for Relief Event with Kendall Jenner in Alexandre Vauthier Haute Couture, Bella Hadid in Roberto Cavalli, Naomi Campbell in Versace, and More!

The action at Cannes is non-stop! Our favorite models took to the runway for Fashion for Relief. But they stormed the red carpet in high-fashion ensembles before the big catwalk show.

Here’s what the ladies wore:

Kendall Jenner paired an Alexandre Vauthier Haute Couture one-shoulder, puff-sleeve crop top with cutoffs from the brand. I liked this!

Bella Hadid is taking Cannes by storm! In another sizzling look, the model slipped on a strapless, beaded sheer Roberto Cavalli number.

Queen Mother Naomi Campbell showed us how it’s done in a blush Versace piece with web-inspired detailing. We’re always taking notes when she hits the red carpet!

Jasmine Sanders looked every bit the model in a flirty LBD.

Maria Borges shimmered and sparkled in a one-shoulder embellished mini dress. She’s stunning!

Ming Xi stormed the red carpet in a sleek black Mugler gown. What’s not to love?

Tina Kunakey let her gorgeous ‘fro play centerstage in a simple, yet chic curve-hugging Stella McCartney design.

We haven’t seen Akon in awhile! He was dapper on the red carpet in white and blue.

Heidi Klum flaunted her mile-long legs in a retro-inspired Marc Jacobs frock. Hot!

A black and silver Balmain look was on the style agenda for Sara Sampaio. This was stunning.

Queen Rania of Jordan was a vision in a chic white, button-front gown. I live for her style!

It was all about stripes for Paz Vega. I liked this easy and breezy ensemble.

Chriselle Lim was a floral dream in a waterfall hem Huishan Zhang dress in the classic pattern. She never disappoints!

The Bomb Life Monday Motivation: Never Stop Learning + 10 Fashion Books You Need Right Now

Never stop learning.
That’s a bit of honest advice I’d give to anyone looking to start out in the industry.
Expend every resource available to you. Read books, watch videos, go see talks, find ways to mix and mingle with others who share your interests until you feel you are going in the direction you desire.

When I first started blogging, way before all the fashion shows and bright lights, I’d hit up every fashionable exhibit in the city, and write about those since I didn’t have any events to go to (peep my Black Style Now? Critique on FBD from 2006). Before you get all the glamour, do a bit of grunt work–read, think, grow.

Of course the world is vast and the options are endless, so below, please find my recommendations for great fashion books + fashion films and documentaries you can catch on Youtube, Netflix, or On Demand:

There are so many more that I love, but you can read and watch those to start.
