Show Review: Gucci Spring 2018

Inspired by legends such as Elton John and Bob Mackie it’s no wonder why Gucci’s 2018 Spring Collection was a blast from the past. Glaring midi dresses, snazzy quilted skirts and flagrant neckwear lit up the runway during this highly anticipated debut.

Gucci imprinted rubber hand bags, crafted animal head rings and lime leather dresses all made worthy appearances across the neon catwalk. The 70s and 80s mashups were unquestionably blatant with puffed shoulder tops, classic printed fanny packs and flashy disco ball knitwear.

As a lover of the past viewing this exuberant collection was a brief moment of bliss however a studious crystal embellished Bugs Bunny vest won me over. These bold animated pieces are fashioned for the likes of ASAP Rocky a no brainer or a Katy Perry both who are influenced by this era.

Are you feeling this presentation? What are your thoughts on Gucci’s 2018 latest spring collection?

On the Scene: Cocktails with Claire London Sponsored by Popfresh

Happy Tuesday!
The first ever Cocktails with Claire London went down this past Sunday, September 17th! Bloggers, fashionistas, and FBD enthusiasts gathered at 17 Hobart Place to sip cocktails, network, and fraternize!

Grace Senyomo of Popfresh invited yours truly over to the U.K. for our networking extravaganza. Part 1 comprised a VIP brunch at Duck & Waffle.

I enjoyed chatting with Denise of thing” target=”_blank”>Moixa Clothing, Folake aka Flaykie, Adel of CurvySwanbyAdel, V Shape Baddie, and Chenai.

In between events, I flew to the Versus Versace show…

Then, it was time for the main event! I enjoyed meeting and chatting with loads of British Bombshells.

You guys showed up and showed out!

@SchoyMontana rocked a Zara blazer dress and metallic boots.

@MamaYets was a breathe of fresh air in a colorful dress by Boohoo.

@JustMoiFashion rocked a striped look by River Island.

@ShakailaElise worked an off the shoulder orange top and jeans.

A Chanel bag was the perfect accent to this smart look.

Lastly, a cozy sweater dress played well with chic booties.
After taking pix, we sat down for a Q & A. As always, we talked about setting goals, the highs and lows of entrepreneurship, and how to balance work and career.

For the day, I wore a striped top and skirt by Diane von Furstenberg, along with Prada sandals.

Can you believe I’m still juggling jet lag? But with loads of coffee (and some rest), I hope to be back to my regular self. Next stop, Milan!
Apparently there aren’t tons of similar networking events in the U.K., so we’re game to do more, maybe even next February! And my Parisian fashionistas, I’ll be touching down on the 22nd. Let me know if y’all to have a quick get together. Appelles-moi!

Until then, what did you think of the style at our first Cocktails with Claire in Europe?

Today’s Bombshell is Kira from London, UK.

She writes, “I’m always online looking at fashion bloggers and fashion pages to see what’s popping now and how I could add my twist/flare to it- so that’s definitely a big influence on my style.”

“But I’d also say my culture plays a part in it as well because I wear my bindis and the occasional saree to stay true to my heritage. I grew up in Barbados so of course Rihanna’s style is also goals.”

Show Review: Versus Versace Spring 2018

Donatella Versace and her in-house team launched the Versus Versace Spring 2018 presentation during London Fashion Week. The coed collection was inspired by the autonomous nature of the brand in the 90s. Bold metal chokers, frisky fishnet dresses and sleek panel knitwear all captured the chic & racy rockstar essence of the brands earlier days.

Layered with a dash of tailored sophistication, this runway celebration also included embellished metal fringed cross body bags, transparent heels and a classic printed pistachio design that took the runway by storm. These stand alone statement pieces are fashioned for the liberated ones who dare to push the fashion envelope.

What I enjoyed most was the hardcore edge the designs exuded while still maintaining the sexy nature of the brand. I can foresee celebs from Pharrell to Bad gal Rih rocking out in these fierce pieces with ease.

On The Scene: VH1 Hip Hop Honors: The 90s Game Changers with Faith Evans in Gucci, Monica Brown and Kelly Rowland in Alexander Wang, Karrueche Tran in Versace and More!

The VH1 Hip Hop Honors went down last night, and the 90s fashion that filled Paramount studios in LA had us all kinds of nostalgic!  Army fatigue, bubble coats, plaid and colorful prints were some of the styles donned by our favorite celebrities, and of course we got the scoop on it all!  Let’s get into it below.

Kelly Rowland was absolutely in a 90s state of fashion wearing a Calvin Klein plaid blazer over a Alexander Wang slip dress.  Her Gucci shades and Gianvito Rossi heels added the right amount of swag to her look.

It was just one of them days for our girl Monica Brown to slay.  Her plaid Alexander Wang suit and Gianvito Rossi over-the-knee boots took us back to the days when her album Miss Thang stayed on repeat.

Remy Ma did not come to play in this Gucci python print jumpsuit covered by a one-shoulder bubble coat by JunJie and Laquan Smith lace up boots.  Go Remy!

Faith Evans sprinkled a bit of class and color to the occasion in this Gucci velvet poppy print jacket and pants ensemble.

Karreuche Tran channeled her inner Halle Berry in bra suspenders and vintage jeans by Versace.  Super dope!

What’s more 90s than the classic Versace print?  Rocsi Diaz got the throwback idea and looked super sexy executing it!

Regina Hall, the host of the event, was stunning in a sequined floor length gown by Elisabetta Franchi.

Jordan sneakers and an embellished, army fatigue flight suit was Eva Marcille’s uniform for this event.  Comfortable and cute is always a great combo!

NeNe Leakes was casual yet chic in a Gucci t-shirt and midi length, flared skirt.

Blac Chyna gave us Salt-n-Pepa vibes in this yellow cropped jacket and Adidas tennis shoes.

T.I. looked absolutely regal in this yellow vintage jacket, silk black shirt and distressed jeans.

Christian Combs was every bit of his father, Diddy, in a Supreme sweatshirt, painted jeans, and Timberland boots.

DJ Khaled and his mini me Asahd were twinning in baby blue velour track suits and Off-White + Nike sneakers.

Who had your favorite 90s look?  What would you have worn to this event?
