Everything is on the up swing for Dapper Dan!
In addition to covering this Sunday’s T Magazine, the legendary Harlem haberdasher will be coming out with a book and a Biopic.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Sony is developing a biopic based on Dapper Dan’s upcoming memoir (due out in 2019 via Random House), which will be adapted by Jerrod Carmichael. Set in Harlem, the feature is described as a “high-stakes coming-of-age story.” Carmichael, who is best known as the creator and star of the NBC critical darling The Carmichael Show, will also produce alongside Josh Bratman of Immersive Pictures. Dapper Dan and Jelani Day, his son and brand manager, are set to executive produce.
As we know, Daniel “Dapper Dan” Day is a streetwear pioneer that outfitted some of the biggest New York City-based stars of the ’80s and ’90s out of his iconic store on 125th Street in Harlem. His clientele included Eric B. & Rakim, Salt-N-Pepa, P. Diddy, Mike Tyson, Aaliyah and Floyd Mayweather.
His style of remixing high-end logos from the likes of Gucci and Louis Vuitton into his designs led to litigation that eventually prompted the closure of his store. Over two decades later, in September of last year, Dapper Dan struck a partnership with #Gucci to relaunch his exclusive Harlem atelier that includes a Dapper Dan x Gucci capsule that will be available along with the Fall 2018 collection.
If you’re anything like my friends, you’re already planning to dress up at a Beyonce Beychella backup dancer for Halloween! Lucky you! In our Instagram searching, we stumbled across Black Milk Clothing, the creators of the King Tut inspired bodysuits Bey’s dancers wore in the opening sequence of her two hour long performance.
While the exactly one legged design doesn’t seem to be available, you can get a more subdued swimsuit or reef suit with the Egyptian Royalty print.
Expect to shell out $90-$100 to get the look.
Would you rock it?

If you thought the Coachella performances left you speechless, then think again! Bombshell Rihanna didn’t touch the stage at the music festival, but she stepped out every day in style. Whether she was in the crowd enjoying a performance, or attending party, Rih came to slay. One of her many outfits was a draped tulle Y Project ensemble. Talk about a statement! It’s safe to say she brought this look to life.
She styled it with slouchy thigh high boots by the brand and a subtle Gucci headband accessory.
Hot! Or Hmm…?
What’s Coachella without a Fenty Puma party, right? The designer wore her own threads from the SS18 collection while attending a Coachella Fenty Puma event. The color block ‘Drowning’ bathing suit was zipped down showing off some cleavage, and her look was completed with wide leg athletic pants and pink shades.
Rih even showed off a 60’s hair flip style that she wore with the sporty look.
Would you rock this?
Last, but certainly not least, for the last day of the epic music festival Rihanna did the unexpected. Then again, she is Rihanna so does the unexpected even exist? She slayed the scene in a full mask including her jewels from Gucci’s FW18 collection.
She teamed the mask with more Gucci threads, including a sweatshirt/ button down FW18 ensemble. Python printed thigh high boots covered her legs so far up that they looked like pants. Rih sure knows how to turn heads and keep them turned.
