There’s nothing more frustrating than starting a new diet and experiencing the same challenges and setbacks. You may have bought a whole new range of ingredients for your food, some new small Tupperware for meal prep or a snacking diet or you may simply have been excited to see the results of a diet that you’re sure will work this time. The truth is that the best-laid plans can unravel if you still have bad habits. Here’s what to look out for to ensure your daily habits are not deterring your weight log efforts.
Alcohol
Alcohol is often a significant challenge to your weight loss plans. A casual happy hour or drinks with dinner can pack on more calories that you’d expect. It’s important to understand how alcohol and weight loss are linked. Some diets may recommend completely eliminating alcohol while others allow it in moderation. Either way, the key is to be informed to make smart choices that work for your life.
Not Balancing Exercise & Actual Calories Needed
Exercise can result in many more benefits than getting your heart rate up. It’s an important part of most weight loss program and can help you increase your energy levels and feel better. However, people can sabotage their weight loss efforts after working out with their diet choices. Although you’ll be burning more calories and you will likely feel hungrier this can encourage you to eat more, and sometimes overeat. Pay attention to what and when you’re eating. Just because you’re working out it doesn’t mean you can eat whatever you want. As you workout more, keep in mind that muscle is heavier than fat, so just because the number on the scale is going up, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
Smoking
Smoking is famously an appetite killer, but it comes as a cost that can never be worth it. Unfortunately, the results of quitting smoking – or even cutting down – is that you feel like you have a hole in your belly that you need to fill with food. Nicotine craving is not dissimilar from the sensation of a hungry belly. Don’t give in to these urges, and understand it’s just the nicotine craving, which will pass. After three weeks, the nicotine stops acting on your body, and you’ll be able to continue your diet without cravings.
Inactivity
Inactivity is quite a common part of our everyday lives: after stressful days at work, we’re often tempted to continue sitting on our bums on the couch watching television before heading off to bed. Unfortunately, being completely sedentary is also psychologically related to eating or snacking, and can even lead to a bad posture. The advice here isn’t to cancel all your leisure time, but it is to bear in mind that too much time spent inactive will not do your health any good. Next time you have a stressful day try going on a walk around the park, run, or even a yoga class to get moving and destress.
Use these tips to ensure that the next time you start a diet, you’re aware of all the habits which can make or break your success.
Fall is upon us!
And with a change in seasons comes a change in hot trends you can incorporate into your current classics to give them a jolt. Read on for quick rundown of the top five Fall 2018 trends: What They Are and How to Wear them:
1. Neon:
Shocking neon colors are not for the faint of heart, so if you’re going to go for neon, go all the way! In season’s past, we’ve incorporated neon accents like bags or shoes, but Fall 2018 is all about the full on commitment.
Slip on a full neon Versace suit a la Blake Lively, or rock a neon dress or work out ensemble like Kim K.
Neon also works for hair, so ladies, don’t be shy…
2. Animal Print
As seen at: Dolce & Gabbana
How to Wear It:
Whether wearing a suit, a jacket, or a set, animal print is always in. Amp up your wardrobe with a few feral combos.
Fall 2018 mixes animal print with neons hues. Only the bold need apply.
3. Plaid
As seen at: Versace, Fendi, Balenciaga
How to wear it:
Go schoolgirl chic in a plaid skirt or amp it up in a menswear inspired suit or coat. However you rock it, you’ll be bomb!
4. Suits
As seen at: Cushnie, Dolce & Gabbana, Moschino
How to Wear It:
Wear a suit in a flirty, feminine color or with a waist cinching fit for a chic twist.
Tailoring is key. Add fun details like brooches and feathers for an updated look.
5. Logo Love
As seen at: Fendi, Gucci, Burberry, Balmain.
How to Wear It:
Wear one logo’ed out item, or pile it on for lasting effect.
Though most ‘it’ girls wear expensive designer brands, you can rock the logo trend with any brand, high or low.
Be sure to bring your logo printed items to Convos with Claire Atlanta on October 13th!
What a week in style we had! Fashion month is closing out, but the celebs are still hitting the scene in their best fashions/ This week we have a bomb lineup of the most liked looks. Get into it here:
1.Cardi B in Dolce & Gabbana
Cardi has been shutting it down lately. From Milan Fashion Week to Paris Fashion Week her and her bomb stylist Kollin Carter were a force to be reckoned with. It’s safe to say she didn’t miss a beat. Her first look of Milan Fashion Week stole the show with over 11,000 likes for this head to toe animal printed Dolce & Gabbana ensemble paired with leopard print thigh high boots. Hot!
2. Kim Kardashian in Tom Ford
Coming in number two was Kim Kardashian in a simple, yet cute look. She supported her baby girl North West during her 1st runway debut wearing vintage wide leg python printed wide leg pants and an oversized Prada clutch. The animal print trend certainly took over this week!
3.Beyoncé in Zimmermann
It’s just like Queen Bey to slay us in the midst of her On The Run tour. She hopped onto Instagram to bless our feeds with a few looks. This Zimmermann set was beloved by our readers. The feminine floral ensemble was a Zimmermann classic and Bey rocked it. I love that she wore a high bun and statement earrings, it drew more attention to the details of her look.
4. Lady Gaga in Gareth Pugh Studio
Come through Gaga! Who say’s head to toe black can’t be bomb?! Lady Gaga stepped out working a belted trench by Gareth Pugh studio and thigh high black boots. @v_vintage said, “Her stylist hasn’t been playing lately!!!” She sure hasn’t been because she is killing it!
5. Tiffany Haddish in Cushnie
Tiffany’s looks are often a hit or a miss with our readers, but they were loving this color block Cushnie number! Haddish attended the LA Film Festival in a red and purple dress by the brand with a red sandal. She looked so bomb! @chocolatemorticia said, “Love this Cushnie dress! Best I’ve seen her look!” I definitely agree!
Happy Saturday!
I am currently in Atlanta, handling some family business and also prepping for Convos with Claire! Our event is coming up October 13th, and I couldn’t be more excited to see how ATL shows out with our Logo Love dress code! So Fun!
The day before I hopped on a plane, I was honored to receive Cafe Mocha Radio’s Style Awards, as apart of their Salute Her Honors.
I was blessed to receive an award alongside industry change makers like Arva Rice, President of the New York Urban League, celebrity publicist Gwendolyn Quinn, legendary singers Valerie Simpson and Nona Hendryx, activist Gwen Carr, and Bloomberg radio anchor Donna Wilson.
The brand features loads of looks I love, including tutus of various colors equipped with high slits, sleek suits, and more. I’m sure you’ll love them! Check them out here.
Life is still in a bit of an upheaval with @FashionbombDaily disabled, but I’m slowly but surely bouncing back! I’ve gotten over the shock of what happened, been doing my best to get it together, and have learned how to just get on with life. Awards and honors like this one certainly keep me encouraged!
Thank you to Sheila Eldridge and Cafe Mocha Radio for this honor!

Italian fashion house, Versace has lead the fashion industry with iconic designs for decades. The brand could be sold to Michael Kors in a $2 billion deal according to the Wall Street Journal.
Toning down the Versace designs would certainly take away from the brand’s image. Readers were not too happy with this news. @yourstyleisforever said, “This is a mess to me. I respect MK but he isn’t Versace and I don’t feel is equipped to carry on the legacy. I don’t want to see Versace on Macy’s racks.” @jerksauceshawty added, “Nooooo Donatella, don’t do this to your brother’s legacy.”
Paris Fashion Week kicked off today as the last week of runway shows during fashion month. But, Milan Fashion Week closed out with weekend with one of our faves sitting front row—Cardi B! The bombshell rapper attended Dolce & Gabbana’s show rocking animal print from head to toe. She wore a D&G tiger printed trench dress accessorized with fur glasses by the brand and bomb earrings. She completed the look with $1,295 leopard print Giuseppe Zanotti thigh high boots.
Not many people can pull off head to toe animal print, but Cardi looked bomb! With 10,000+ like on our Instagram, readers were loving this ensemble @kingcleopatra_ said, “Cardi always looks so polished and high fashion! Her stylist is nailing it! I absolutely love this. THIS is how you make a statement. DG is still supporting this authentic woman. So proud of her!” We couldn’t agree more! Cardi and her stylist, Kollin Carter are certainly a force to be reckoned with when they work together.
After the show is the after party! Cardi performed at a Dolce event following the show wearing the brand’s thread yet again. This time she strayed away from the animal print and stepped out in a chic pantsuit.
The pink printed jacquard suit featured embellished lapels and looked super classy on Cardi. I love the quick switch to the extra long hair! Next up, Paris Fashion Week! Are you excited to see what she will step out in?
