It’s taken me a few days to recover from the Bomb-ness that was Convos with Claire Memphis, Tennessee! We joined forces with Memphis based boutique owner, Ashley Dean aka @DeanofFashion to put on our first Convos with Claire of 2019. Our event featured special guests Yandy Smith and Memphis’s very own Harrison Crite aka @IamHDiddy for a day full of fashion, inspiration, shopping, and fun .

Guests brunched on chicken & waffles, cajun shrimp and grits, and shopped from vendors @icreatefashion___ , @dollbabybagz, @shopboldmemphis , @axcexx,, @majorpiecesboutique @ajsluxewear, @allthingskris , and @dollbabybagz :

With a dress code that called for pastel tones, Guests came to slay! Check out a few stand outs:

Boutique owner @ShopAri52 slipped on a turquoise blazer and matching heels.

Bombshell @Chelsie.Devonne worked a pink blazer and a feathered skirt. 

The icy haired young lady added punch to a pink blazer with distressed jeans and multicolored snake boots.

Lavender was a lovely choice for this Casino owner.

This Bombshell popped on an assortment of pastel tones, including pink and mint.

A pair of Sophia Webster sandals was the perfect accent for this peach jumpsuit.

A fun fascinator was a wonderful accent to a cream mini dress.

Harrisons Crite represented for the fellas in a mint look.

Ashley Dean aka @DeanofFashion popped in a belted pink dress.

And the gorgeous Petra Thomas aka @901Covergirl won our Best Dressed contest and a trip to New York for Convos with Claire! She worked a custom petal infused creation that blended perfectly with our theme and decor.

@feferitydesignsbykehney . I actually ordered a custom made dress, but it didn’t quite work. Thankfully I had this on standby.

Designer, Christian Siriano, has been gaining lots of attention in the fashion industry since he was deemed as the winner of Project Runway’s 4th season in 2008. Since then, he has worked with many fabulous women such as Michelle Obama and men as well like actor, Billy Porter. Siriano recently revealed his plans to further his work in menswear after the success and buzz generated by Porter’s fab look.

The internet was in a frenzy as the Pose actor, Billy Porter, grazed the Oscar red carpet in a…gown by Christian Siriano! Yes, a gown. Worn as a challenge to traditional feminine and masculine standards, Porter’s tuxedo dress gained him a memorable place in history as the first man to ever rock a gown on the Oscars red carpet. As a designer, Christian Siriano finds no limit to inspiration and is willing to experiment with interesting aspects in order to achieve the ultimate look for his clients. After Billy Porter’s gown broke the Internet, Siriano became even more inspired by the challenging of traditional menswear elements. At a recent panel for Virginia Commonwealth University’s fashion department, he expressed how he will be venturing more into menswear for the upcoming Met Gala and in general design. He explained further how they will be different from the classic tuxedos and feature gender fluid elements. Nipsey Hussle touched the hearts of many and his legacy, which has been labeled as “The Marathon”, shall continue on even in his style and fashion.

Nipsey Hussle’s last solo post on Instagram has been circulating the internet since the rapper’s passing. The photo featured him standing strong in a bandana printed jacket which was designed by a 19 year old Korean London-based designer, Geonsik “Sik” Bak. Sik operates the ready-to-wear brand by the name of Sik’s View which focuses on creating conceptual reworked pieces. Nipsey’s stylist, Daniel R. Jones, reached out to Sik as Nipsey had discovered one of his jackets via Instagram and expressed interest in the garment. Using a Carhartt WIP jacket and vintage bandanas for the patchwork detail, Sik remade the “Work in Gangster” jacket as a personalized custom for Nipsey Hussle. Sik has also caught the attention of rapper Big Sean and designed a patchwork jacket for him as well.

Despite the copies of the jacket which have been heavily circulating the internet, Geonsik Bak is the original designer behind the bandana patchwork jacket. Imitating, or copying, the work of lesser-known designers is nothing new to the fashion world and the problem still exists especially in big fashion houses. Nipsey Hussle was all about doing what was right and showing his support for the youth and arts and he did so by giving the young designer a chance at showcasing his work to the world. Nipsey Hussle set an example to give credit and support when it is due, paving the way for others to follow and do the same.

Coachella’s first weekend has come and gone and we’re loving the celebrity style we’ve been seeing posts on Instagram giving us serious FOMO. Here are a few of your favorites (and ours) from the week.

Cardi B showed off her toned legs by wearing a $4,000 Louis Vuitton anorak and paired it with pink Chanel sneakers and mini backpack. The colorful ensemble from the celebrity rapper was styled for her by her stylist Kollin Carter.

Bella Hadid showed up in Alyx Studio RTW pants with buckle embellishments. She paired her Ivory pants with a colorful vest from brand Ganni

Model Jasmine Sanders kept it cheeky in a barely-there dress from GypsySport. White combat boots and blonde braids helped to complete this look she wore for one of the many parties celebrating the Coachella Festivities.

Lala Milan took a break from making us laugh to show off her styling talents with thigh-high cowboy-inspired boots from Pretty Little Thing. She added a black crop top and denim shorts with a silver buckled belt from Swank Blue.

Hennessy Carolina got the memo and arrived in a silver cowboy hat with matching pants from Ivan Bitton to the Moschino and Sephora party. This was her first time attending Coachella and I’m sure she’ll be back.

Teyana Taylor showed off her killer curves in a blue unitard with neon piping from Sorella Boutique which sold out immediately after we posted the details of her fit on our Instagram page.
