People around the UK look forward to Christmas for many reasons. One of them is undoubtedly the delicious food items that make up the traditional Christmas dinner menu.
Betway online casino has found out some of the must-have dishes that you will surely find on a traditional British Christmas dinner table.
Turkey
It is not a traditional Christmas dinner if there is no succulent roasted turkey on the table. The turkey should be perfectly cooked with its juiciness intact and the stuffing properly cooked. A great many quarrels have started and ended over a perfectly cooked Christmas turkey.
Gravy
To cut through the blandness of the turkey, a rich gravy cooked with the juice of turkey is poured over the turkey slices. This gravy is prepared from the drippings of turkey when it is cooked. The leftover juice is then mixed with wheat flour to give it a texture and seasoned with salt and pepper.

Pigs in Blankets
P-n-Bs are another crowd puller and a must-have dish when it comes to traditional Christmas dinner in the UK. Pigs in Blankets are basically chipolata sausages wrapped in bacon. They work great as an appetizer and builds your appetite nicely. Cute, and utterly delicious, pigs in blankets are a favourite during Christmas dinners and are always the first to go.
Roast Potatoes
Roasted potatoes are the ideal accompaniment to the greasiness and richness of the turkey. Slather your potatoes with leftover fat or just plain olive oil and put them into the oven. Pull them out when the potatoes are slightly browned. Crispy on the outside and soft on the outside, well-cooked roasted potatoes have their own set of fan-following.
Brussel sprouts
There are polarizing views on the suitability of having Brussel sprouts during a Christmas dinner. They are normally steamed or fried with bacon fat. While many people dislike this particular vegetable, Brussel sprouts still manage to grace the dinner table every Christmas owing to its longstanding Christmas tradition.

Christmas Pudding
The Christmas pudding is a truly traditional British Christmas dessert. The pudding is rich and dense and filled with lots of dry fruits, including prunes, berries, currants, and nuts. It is served warm with a dash of custard sauce poured over it. Traditionally, the pudding is soaked in alcohol, mainly brandy, and set alight before serving.
Mince Pies
Contrary to what the name suggests, mince pies are not made of meat. They are small pies that are filled with fruits like cranberries, currants, prunes, etc. as well as chopped nuts, along with spices like cinnamon, sugar, and nutmeg. Once baked, the pies are dusted with icing sugar and served after dessert along with a glass of the best wine available.
To Summarise
English people are known to be particular about their traditions and Christmas dinners take the cake when it comes to traditions. So, enjoy it while you can and relish the memories once Christmas is over.
