On Friday, social media was placed in a frenzy as users discovered that fashion mega brand Guess has released their very own Logo G-tote which resembled Telfar‘s incredibly popular shopping bag.
Black Fashion Fair founder and fashion critic Antoine Gregory was the first to take notice to the bag’s similarities, posting a side-by-side photo of the two brands’ bags. He expressed in a tweet, “I think the most annoying and yet interesting part of this is the fact that a company like GUESS has the capital and resources to produce this bag in great quantities when the original designer could not. And it really just speaks to the lack of access granted to Black designers. The lack of capital. The lack of resources the industry provides them.”
Just like Telfar’s medium white shopping bag, the Guess Embossed Logo G-Tote features the Guess “G” logo in the middle of the bag complete with two varying length handles in a medium-size rectangular silhouette. Guess also offers the bag in different sizes and colors.
Many users sided with Telfar with some even urging the brand to issue a cease and desist. This moment also caused users to discover that this is Guess’s first time mimicking other designer bags. Some users found Guess bags in similar designs and silhouettes to brands like Dior, Gucci and Prada.
Since the social media uproar on Friday, it was announced on Saturday evening that Guess has stopped the sale of its Embossed Logo-G totes on the Guess site and stores. However, the bags are still available at their stockists. Telfar has not spoken on the matter since it was brought to the public’s attention on social media, the brand continues to focus on product rollouts and its next Bag Security Program which is scheduled for March 30th.

Classic diamonds are happily worn and admired by many women. This is mainly due to their timeless allure, lustre and durability. If you like to stay true to the classics, but long to experiment a little, you will also love all of these qualities in the very unique black diamonds. Otherwise known as “carbonado”, they differ in the fact that they are not transparent and in addition to carbon, they also contain graphite which is the reason for their colour. Although working with black diamonds is a bit more demanding due to the fact that they tend to contain inclusions more frequently, jewellery with black diamonds is sought after for its sophistication.
Black diamonds as a bold and versatile accessory
In recent years, black diamonds have become a hot trend in jewellery. The reason for this may also be the fact that they symbolise passion and strength, apparently give their wearers courage and that they demonstrate independence. They are also impressive and captivate at first glance.
Diamond jewellery genuinely deserves its popularity due to the wonderful qualities of diamonds and the added undeniable benefit of jewellery with black diamonds is the fact that it will suit everything but at the same time it will also always make a unique accessory. For instance, with a black diamond ring, you can express that you’re an adventurous soul not tied down by conventions and at the same time, unlike other stones with distinctive colours, you don’t have to think about what colours to wear them with.
Made for ladies who are looking for something different
Black, shiny gemstones can give an impression of something mystical and can add a bit of mystery to an outfit. According to Jarmila Slívová from the KLENOTA jewellery studio in Prague: “Black diamonds work well when contrasted with something and this is why they suit white gold so well. You can’t go wrong even if you choose a halo style design for your jewellery where a central black stone is surrounded by clear, transparent diamonds.”
For instance earrings with black diamonds will make a great piece for day to day wear as well as for special occasions. Choose from traditional or distinctive designs or even pieces in Art Deco style. In this style, the contrast of black and white appears by default and shapes made from curves and precise geometric lines are a repeating feature of it.

Fashion designer Michael Lombard‘s story of entering fashion is not a typical one. He was involved in the music industry for over 25 years as a music executive. Now, he is one of the most renowned fashion designers in the industry backed by countless magazines features and appearances at global fashion weeks.
Born in Amityville, New York, Michael Lombard is currently based in Maryland where he attended the University of Maryland to major in Government and Politics. Following school, he entered the music industry working his way up to becoming a record label executive with his very own label under Atlantic Records. After 25 years, he realized his passion rested in designing clothing, turned his sketches into actual pieces and the rest became history.
Starting out so late in the industry, Lombard surprisingly managed to score appearances at big shows. Using the highest grade leather matched by edgy, innovative designs, the industry quickly took a liking to his work. He was even named the “King of Leather” by Huffington Post with his jacket and sneakers being hailed by the LA Times as the “Best of 2020”. He has shown at fashion weeks all around the world including New York Fashion Week, Los Angeles Fashion Week, London Fashion Week, Paris Fashion Week and Milan Fashion Week to name a few.
He describes his first big placement and how it changed his busniness: “My Big Forbes and Vogue articles put me in a different space for my business. It gives you credibility in the industry. I’ve dressed celebrities, walked some of the biggest shows around the world and been in amazing press and media.“
Michael Lombard’s designs have been worn by many high profile clients from music stars to professional athletes. He currently partners with HarperPR, a style fashion house which serves A-list clients like Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé. He has also styled celebrities like Paula Abdul, LELE Pons and Prince Royce.
Lombard is also a designer of many firsts. He was the first fashion designer sponsored by Monster Energy Drink while on his fashion tour. He is also the first designer ever to host BBC World Live at London Fashion Week House of iKons Show.
On the biggest lesson he’s learned, he shares: “Well, the biggest lesson I’ve learned is you have to constantly work at it. It’s a business first. You have to have a vision of where you want to take your brand, then implement your plan and don’t deviate off of it.”
Outside of innovation and quality in design, Lombard also accounts his successes to marketing. He states, “Marketing is key, without it your brand can’t grow. Personally, I always market the name, without the name no one would know you exist especially in the fashion industry.”
Michael Lombard continues to take the fashion world by storm with his cutting-edge designs, further revolutionizing luxury fashion as we know it. His latest comes as a part of CFDA’s Runway360 program, which was launched last year as a digital platform to help designers in presenting collections in their entirety.
