Hey!
So last night was a late night, as I attended the VH1 Hip Hop Honors Afterparty.
Industry Heavyweights like MC Lyte, EPMD, Pete Rock, Q-Tip, and Mos Def peppered the party in Midtown Manhattan.
I stayed out pretty late, meaning Mail Bombs today will be a bit delayed.
Until I get them together, take a look at this video I whipped up on the red carpet:
Instead of cheesing with celebs for pictures, I decided to get behind the camera and talk to them a bit about Style.
How’d I do?
Smootches!
Hey Guys,
First: Thank you ALL for your kind words. They mean a lot!
Second: In the spirit of change, today Adriana gives you her first post as an official Fashion Bomb contributor!
From now on, there will be no introductions, just Adriana offering her thoughts on trends, celeb style, and the like.
Enjoy!

Fashion Bombers, if you’re anything like me, fall has crept up on you despite your refusal to believe that summer’s really over. It seems like celebs have been feeling that way, too, since summer gear still abounds among style mavens (especially at the recent European runway shows), and many of the trends predicted for fall have yet to fully make their way onto the scene. There are a few famous ones, though, who have been giving us glimpses of what’s to come.

The always fashion-forward Solange sported one of fall’s must-haves, a funky tailored blazer, at the recent Giorgio Armani show in Milan:
Other fall trends will make you think you’ve gone to sleep and woken up again in the 1990s: plaid, slouchy styles, and motorcycle-inspired boots are just some of the looks we’ll be re-visiting. Jennifer Hudson and French actress Sonia Rolland offer their interpretations:
Rihanna almost single-handedly popularized the sophisticated glam rock look (graphic tees, skinny jeans, neon accents, and lots of black) that we can all trace at least one item in our current wardrobes back to, and it’s still going strong for fall. Actress Dania Ramirez and Floetry’s Marsha Ambrosius channelled the style at recent events:

And one of fall’s soon-to-be-staples, the ruffle blouse, has been spotted on Toccara, Janet Jackson, and even Keyshia Cole’s mom, Frankie (man down!), who’s been, believe it or not, developing her own cute sense of style of late!
Looking to lead the charge to fall trends, as well? Try some of these similar pieces:
1. Priorities Ruffle Blouse, $64. 2. L.A.M.B. Sideways Plaid Blazer, $385. 3. BCBGirls Motorcycle Boot, $198. 4. Silence & Noise Motorcycle Jacket, $128. 5. Blank Skinny Classique Jeans in Grey, $78. 6. J. Crew Fiona Herringbone Jacket, $150.
Bringing you the fashion savvy more frequently now,
Adriana
Hey Guys!
So life is all about changes, and mine is about to change in a major way!
After lots of thought and deliberation, I’ve decided to move to Paris!!

I know, I know!! Let me explain. I majored in French (and African-American studies) in college, and before that spent almost every high school summer in France, eating baguettes and shopping at Galeries Lafayette. One of my biggest dreams was to move to Paris for an extended period of time, and now seemed just as good a time as any to get a move on!
After my vacation in August, I found myself falling in love with Paris (again)…and though not all is arranged and not everything is absolutely perfect, I reasoned: when will life ever be perfect for an international move???
So after Fashion Week, I put in my notice, began packing up my cute Brooklyn studio, and am scheduled to fly into Charles de Gaulle airport in two weeks. Scream!
How will this affect the Fashion Bomb?
1. Info on the hottest celebrity trends:
Thanks to the internet, pix of celebrities abound, so I can give you guys a heads up on celeb style from anywhere!
2.Mail Bombs:
I have an eye for fashion! If you guys keep sending me requests, I can still find what you’re looking for with a few clicks of my mouse!
Same goes for Style Files, Designer Spotlights, and the like!
1. Shots of Real Style:

Instead of me patrolling the streets of NYC, I’ll be storming Paris, London, Spain, Italy, and more! The Fashion Bomb will have a bit of an international flavor. Not a bad thing! But y’all can always send me your pictures (I already have a bunch which haven’t been posted)!
2. Claire’s Life:
No longer in hot party central NYC, I won’t be hitting up all the celebrity and industry events! Besides y’all don’t log on to see my mug all over the place:)
France is 6 hours ahead, meaning no more waking up mad early to post (for me)! And of course I’ll be updating during the day with all the fashion news you love and crave!
Wish me luck…

Congrats!
So I’ve been getting lots of e-mails lately imploring me to represent more plus sized fashionistas.
While I’ve profiled plus sized sirens Jennifer Hudson and Queen Latifah in past Style Files, there’s a new voluptuous vixen in town, representing for the girls with a bit more curve:

Toccara Jones.
This former ANTMer parlayed her bubbly personality and undeniable charm into stints at BET and the pages of Italian Vogue and Essence. Her style has evolved accordingly, by focusing on fits that show off her best assets.
For Toccara, the rule is black, black, and more black…

…as the dark color is slimming and its monochromatic look creates a vertical line, making the body seem sleak. Toccara also favors plunging necklines…

…that bring the eye downward, and the focus more towards the center of the body. When she diverts from black, she stunts in dresses in eggplant or turquoise…
…or pops on a belt on other occasions to highlight her smallest part:
Chic!
For more casual events, she opts for a v neck vest or t-shirt….
..worn with jeans in straight or boot cut styles to balance out her hips.
Want a chic plus size look? Try these options:

1. Monif C Marilyn Convertible Dress 26, $75. 2. Torrid White Purple Zebra Head V-Neck Tee, $28. 3. London Times Woman Crepe Belted Dress, $90. 4. I’m probably dating myself with this video, but ah well:
What ever happened to them?
While taking in Dutch lingerie designer Marlies Dekkers’s show in Paris, Usher revealed to WWD that he plans on launching a lingerie line:
He said, “You may have heard that I might be launching a lingerie line for men and women.” Now when it comes to draws for the men, he might know a thing or two…
…as for his skill in the ladies department…well we’ll have to see about that.
