Hey Bombshells,
Adriana here with a recap of April 17’s Beat and Brands event in NYC!
Fashion Bomb friends and style connosieurs NINA SKY hosted this funky showcase of music and fashion that featured edgy brands such as Cubannie Links, Mishka, and Claw Money.

The music was pumpin’ with Nicole on the one and twos spinning old school hip-hop, soul, and funk, and with two rooms available–one for shopping, one for dancing–it was a music and style lover’s perfect cocktail. I caught up with Natalie and Nicole, of course:

And chatted up Cubannie Links founder and designer Annie Basulto, who’s a Fashion Bomb enthusiast!

I also snapped a few flicks of the wares for y’all to check out.
Cubannie Links (the bullet earrings seem like something Rihanna would go for, non?):

Mishka(check out the combo hoodie/hot pants):

And Claw Money (my fave was the sassy tee with the female take on the Air Jordan logo):

The packed crowd was a sure sign that the music + fashion combo = winner.

There are plans in the works for more of these–I’ll be sure to let y’all know if and when…
Check out Cubannie Links, Mishka, and Claw Money on their sites.
*Thanks to the homie DG for the look!
~Adri
There were so many instances of chic this week, it was hard to keep up!

It’s tough to choose a front runner…
For me it’s a tie between stylish Ciara in Louis V Spicy’s and Vivica who’s poppin’ in pink!
Who’s your fave?
So I was on my buddy’s webpage and randomly clicked on the site for Kurt Geiger:

A UK based shop, Kurt Geiger is Europe’s leading luxury shoe retailer, and offers over 100 brands of decadent designer shoes. While they sell various well known brands (Stuart Weitzman, French Connection), I love the Kurt Geiger mark the most:
I literally want all of them. I’m not kidding.
Drool over the selections at www.kurtgeiger.com.
Taking it back to ’92 with SWV and one of their lesser known hits, Right Here:

A few questions/observations:
*Remember when girl groups used to wear matching outfits?
*Isn’t their natural hair really…refreshing?
*Check out old girl’s 5 inch long fingernails!
*Could those denim shorts be any shorter?
*Videos used to be so simple–two wardrobe and scene changes were enough.
Enjoy!
The first style book on Michelle Obama, titled Michelle Style: Celebrating the First Lady of Fashion, will hit book shelves May 5th:

The author Mandi Norwood, described as the former editor-in-chief of several titles (Cosmopolitan UK, Mademoiselle, Shop, Etc), says the book promises to, “[Look at] her journey to the White House through the filter of her style.“
Spend $14 on this ingenious idea…

…or just take a look at all our Michelle Obama posts!
Mix sass and class with this $242 Ever Ischia Skirt in Mud:

Its high waist offers a touch of class, but the visible zipper is all sass!
Mix it with the following for a cute look:
According to WWD Michelle Obama’s Vogue issue was a certified best seller:

The frameworthy issue sold 560,000 copies on the newsstand, 1,000 more copies than their most recent best selling September issue.
WWD writer Stephanie D. Smith says, “The First Lady has been featured on the covers of Ladies Home Journal, More, Ebony, People and Us Weekly, however sales for those titles have varied. (According to Advertising Age, sales for the September issue of Ladies Home Journal with both her and husband President Barack Obama on the cover were 21 percent smaller than the year prior.) Obama is also featured on the April issue of O, The Oprah Magazine, along with Oprah Winfrey, and the May issue of Essence with her mother, Marian Robinson.“
