Many celebrities have been seen on the red carpet sacrificing fashion in the name of cushy, comfortable sneaks:
D Woods rocked Pastry Kicks with a strapless frothy Heatherette frock, and model Veronica Webb accented a gray dress and cream trench with bright blue baskets.
But I’ll never forget–four weeks after my surgery, I wouldn’t even wear sneakers with dresses (even under doctor’s orders)! I fought with all my might and settled on some sparkly skimmers.
What do you think?
Are sneakers ever ok with skirts and dresses?
The fashionable were all over the map this weekend: besides the usual L.A./New York circuit, Atlanta, Miami Beach, and Washington D.C. also hosted their fair share of celebs. So who rocked what (and rocked it best)?
Keyshia Cole sang the national anthem at the Hawks vs. Cavs game in the ATL and featured some stars and stripes of her own, sporting a rhinestone Chanel pendant necklace with a flouncy black and white striped minidress. A cornflower blue boyfriend blazer and chic strappy platforms in taupe topped the tres Hot ensemble off.
At the Noche de Ninos gala in Beverly Hills, Jennifer Lopez chose to go with teal jersey for the red carpet. Her mermaid cut dress with blouson sleeves and loose boatneck collar is fine on its own but seems slightly ill-fitting on La Lopez’s bodacious bod. Same with her shoes and hair: I love a messy up-do and bold black sandals but somehow both of these together seem to weigh down the outfit, Hmm…
Back east at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in D.C., Alicia Keys opted for a sleeveless cocktail dress in eggshell with black accents anchored by silver and black T-strap sandals. The banded bodice and snowflake prints give the dress a sexy-girlish feel but…it’s far from the best I’ve seen her look. Her curtain of straight hair and bland makeup dress the outfit down somewhat, too. It’s not an out-and-out Hmm–maybe more of a lukewarm Hot?
Kerry Washington also made the scene at the Correspondents’ Dinner in what at first glance might appear to be a matronly number. But I think this ruffle-tiered, midnight blue, strapless frock really works on her for reasons je ne sais quoi. Perhaps its the dramatic color, or the pops of gold in her accessories that keep the outfit from becoming too somber. Or maybe I’m just glad she looks a bit more appropriately dressed than A. Keys. Kerry’s style is often quite feminine with an undercurrent of traditional, and I think this reflects that well. A very mature Hot…
Over in NYC at stylist-turned-music-artist O’Neal McKnight’s mixtape release party, John Legend added some flair by mixing plaid patterns, pairing a grey and white dress shirt with a green and blue tie. He balances the outfit nicely with tailored black trousers and polished wingtips. Plaid seems to have been the evening’s theme, as O’Neal himself goes for a black and white plaid jacket, artfully beat-up jeans, and black and grey kicks (and don’t miss the silk bow-tie and polka dot pocket square). Quite Hawt looks for both gents!
Finally, back down south in Miami Beach, America’s Next Top Model winner Eva Marcille co-hosted a music showcase in this abbreviated denim jumpsuit with a strapless sweetheart neckline. Doorknocker earrings, loose curly hair, and nude platforms with black ankle straps finish off the sassy evening look. While I’m loving the shoes and Eva’s lovely curls, the jumper is just a bit too juvenile for me, Hmm…
What say you, Fashion Bombers?

The Vogue Italia crew is proving that the all black issue wasn’t just a fluke, featuring Arlenis Sosa and Jourdan Dunn in two stunning editorials for May:
Arlenis’ editorial, entitled Glitter, was photographed by Michelangelo di Battista:
Jourdan’s was shot by Craig McDean:
These ladies look absolutely lovely–It’s refreshing to see Jourdan looking very ‘high fashion’ versus her typical sunny editorial shots.
Today Sian Pierre of Swagger brings us Maryama, a beauty of French and Coriscan descent he met by an art gallery opening at place de la Republique:
Her dad used to work for Jean Paul Gautier, so she’s always loved fashion and is beginning work on her own line of luxury headpieces (think peacock feathered headbands..). Her shoes are Berlutti and her bag is her mom’s vintage Chanel.
Fashion Bomb regular Beyonce Knowles was recently spotted in Berlin’s Tegel Airport rocking some super comfy airport gear:
I love her look (she’s got on heels!), but you know we’ve all seen people in the airport rocking pajamas and house shoes!
My Dad’s a pilot, so we’ve always had to dress up. Even for domestic flights, close toed shoes, a skirt or nice slacks, and a blouse were the rule. I can’t even remember the last time I’ve worn jeans to fly!
But what about you? How comfy is fashionably permissible in the airport?
Hey Bombers!
Vuitton here to give you a new version of “Get the Look.”
Instead of focusing on celebrities, we’ll give you straight-off-the-runway looks for less!
First up we have Bomb chick Jourdan Dunn stomping on the runway for the Marc by Marc Jacobs spring 09 show:
She kept it cute and sporty with this look mixing basic tones with fun colors. You can get the look with these pieces:
Newcomer Joan Smalls walks for Oscar de la Renta in a look perfectly suited for the office:
Going monochromatic on occasion was a hot runway trend this spring. Check it out:
Gotta go out and enjoy, so Mail Bombs will be short and sweet:
Let’s go!
First Celeste says, “I LOVE the black shoes Rihanna wore to the Costume Institute Gala.”
“Where can i find them?“
Adriana says, “I’m almost 100% certain these shoes are YSL Prefall 2009.“
Get your pair at www.ysl.com.
Next, Keirsten asks, “I love this jumpsuit…“
“…Where can I get it?”
Adriana says, “I couldn’t find the exact designer of Lala’s jumpsuit but here are a few similar options:”
Devin was searching for a belt similar to Kim Kardashian’s:
Get a fierce cinched look with these options:
And lastly, in a wardrobe query, Britty says, “My birthday is 10 days away and I bought a cheetah print dress from Forever 21’s plus size line:”
“What accessories and shoes should I wear with it? Oh…and I live in Detroit where the weather can be very finicky! lol”
I think exotic prints always look great with red accessories. Pop on a clutch, shoes, and lip color in a cherry red, and throw on a leather jacket to battle that Detroit weather!
That does it for today!
Have amazing weekends:)
Bisous!
