In recent weeks, Balenciaga released two very controversial campaigns. The first featured young children wearing teddy bear bags styled in S&M-style accessories. The second was a Spring 2023 ad which seemed harmless enough until the alarming photo of a Balenciaga x Adidas Hourglass laid across court documents relating to the 2008 United States v. Williams Supreme Court decision regarding child pornography laws.
In the wake of social media outcry from fans and fashion insiders and the slight hint at a possible break up but not really from their biggest A-list supporter, Kim Kardashian, Balenciaga is prepared to sue. It seems a lawsuit was filed in New York State Supreme Court, stating Balenciaga is suing North Six Inc, alongside its agent and set designer Nicholas Des Jardins, for $25 million in “extensive damages.”
In Balenciaga’s public social media statement, posted to the brand’s Instagram Story, they claimed that inclusion of the certain documents was without their knowledge or approval.
The brand wrote in a since expired Story post: “We Sincerely apologize for any offence our holiday campaign may have caused. Our plush bear bags should not have been featured with children in this campaign. We have immediately removed the campaign from all platforms. We apologise for displaying unsettling documents in our campaign. We take this matter very seriously and are taking legal action against the parties responsible for creating this set and including unapproved items from our Spring ’23 campaign photo. We strongly condemn abuse of children in any form. We stand for children safety and well-being.”
While Balenciaga is holding onto the claim that this all transpired without their knowledge, Gabriela Moussaieff, Des Jardin’s agent, argues that Des Jardin is “being used as a scapegoat” by Balenciaga, a statement she made this past week. “Everyone from Balenciaga was on the shoot and was present on every shot and worked on the edit of every image in post-production,” Moussaieff continued. She also noted that the U.S v. Williams document was rented from a prop house.
Balenciaga has removed both campaigns from its site, but social media still isn’t buying it. Some see the lawsuit as a suspicious shift of blame. It removes Balenciaga’s role in the creative process entirely which seems rather odd for a brand as prolific as it is. According to The Fashion Law, the complaint hasn’t been uploaded yet to the New York state court database, so we’re currently unclear about the claims Balenciaga is filing.
Stay tuned for updates on the case, but until then, read the backstory of his controversial campaign on The State of Fashion and let us know what you think!
Shock, outrage, disgust and disbelief are only some of the responses that have swept the world, both within and outside of fashion, when Balenciaga unveiled their latest ad campaign last week. The now deleted images that once seemed to promote child exploitation and BDSM had the designer house in hot water with the media and long time supporters of the brand alike. We at Fashion Bomb Daily have been closely following the scandal unfold and in latest news, Kim Kardashian has broken her silence on the matter through a statement posted to her Instagram story. Here’s what you need to know:
Kim is known for her philanthropical charity work to improve living conditions for children and families in precarious situations, so many were questioning her silence when the campaign came to light seeing as it goes directly against those values. In her own words, she is now “re-evaluating her relationship with the brand”.
While Kim has acknowledged the brand’s quick action in removing the campaigns and efforts to issue a public apology, her future with Balenciaga is uncertain. More to come as we continue to follow the story closely.
Atlanta sweethearts Porsha Williams and Simon Guobadia sealed the deal this Thanksgiving with a grandiose wedding celebration in two parts and we are still in awe! It all started last Friday when Mr. and Mrs. Guobadia held a traditional Nigerian ceremony in authentic Yoruba attire. Later on, a heavenly white wedding reception took place as we marvelled at Porsha in her glorious princess gown styled by Selina Howard. The guest list seemed to go on and on for days with ATL’s most illustrious peaches in attendance including Nene Leakes, Kandi Burruss, Toya Johnson and many more!
One special guest from out of town was international stylist Swanky Jerry who oversaw Simon’s wardrobe from the outset and throughout. The style magician, originally from Nigeria, wore a black Love From Julezlook, Rick Owens shoes, Anna Karin Karlsson accessories and a magenta Alexander McQueen quilted bag. Looking at his color scheme along with photos of all the guests, we think it’s safe to say the dress code for the traditional part of the wedding was infused with fuchsia hues and the evening reception was an all black affair.

Entrepreneur Miss Quad wore a custom Rami gown in the correct color to Porsha and Simon’s traditional wedding!
Nene Leakes turned heads as she arrived at the reception dripping in black crystal chains. The $2,550 dress by Casze and Nyoni Couture was designed by her husband Nyonisela Sioh who was also at the wedding!
A third Real Housewife of Atlanta OG was in the house! Cynthia Bailey came through for her cast member and long time friend in a black lace Jovani dress.
Yandy Smith and Mendeecees flew in from NYC to witness the Guobadia’s love! Yandy looked sublime in an off the shoulder dress by Matopeda with her husband wearing an Eaden Myles suit.
Also in attendance were Monyetta Shaw-Carter and her husband Heath Carter! While Monyetta wore yet another custom Matopeda number paired with Gucci shoes and a Louis Vuitton clutch, her husband wore bespoke Miguel Wilson.

Lint Boutique was a favorite on reception night as Lena Huggs was the second lady spotted in a sequins design by the Atlanta-based brand.

Is it really a love lockdown if Kanye West doesn’t style his love interest? Just last week, West and Brazilian model Juliana Nalú were captured in and around ComplexCon, hosted yearly in Los Angeles. Both were outfitted in Yeezy looks including matching rain boots. This is the designer-rapper’s typical way of saying that if things weren’t official before, they sure are official now!

If you don’t know Juliana, she is the 24-year-old bombshell influencer who has caught Ye’s attention. Sporting white jeans, a grey hoodie and a sleeveless high neck cropped top with under cleavage with a crossbody bag, the look gave us nostalgic hints of the early Yeezy days. Ye, on the other hand, wore a beige crewneck and oversized bomber-hoodie with grey jeans and an Adidas belt – very YZY x Gap if you ask us!
Toronto held a Raptors game in which Canadian mega rapper Drake made a fashionable court-side appearance bundled up in a one-of-a-kind Jean-Charles de Castelbajac teddybear coat! The cozy jacket came from the designer’s archives and was originally crafted in 1987.

While sports fans across Twitter and Instagram gave their mixed review on the outfit, the fashion world seems to be pretty onboard with de Castelbajac’s pushed design perspective and Drake’s audacious sense of style. This is not the first time the rap star has a teddybear JC de Castelbajac creation either! Back in 2014, Drake was outfitted in a similar coat that was black with plushies all over it.

Jean-Charles de Castelbajac is known for creating wearable art and his pieces often sell for tens, even hundreds of thousands and often climb to the million dollar mark. While you can’t quite buy Drake’s coat off the market, it’s certain that this fashion moment has increased the value for when the collectible does go up for sale, auction or otherwise!
This week’s Bomber feature is Mauricio from the City of Champions.
Growing up, Mauricio was nick-named ‘Mr. Put that Sh** On’. His unique style isn’t new. It’s a constant evolution of what always was; his unremarkable flyness.
Mauricio’s ‘fits have been turning heads since he first began putting that sh** on. He refers to his looks as an extension of his mood, often inspired by the marvelously mod 60s and travel while telling a cohesive story about Mauricio himself.
His unapologetic and bold approach to fashion encourages him to take risks and supports his belief that he can —and will— wear anything he wants.
Meeting online is now safe and enjoyable after dating app developers heard our cries. The introduction of dating classifieds at some point bred traffickers. There was harassment and scamming until modern apps provided safe havens. These safe spots are remarkably good at offering matchmaking services. Many men and women alike have found long-term companionships on these sites.
Online Dating: Overview
Online dating is wonderful as it brings everything down to a simple profile. These profiles provide any interested parties with all the information they need to date you, or not. When you finally meet a girl or boy on an international dating site, it is imperative to take things offline.
This is because you need confirmation, among other things. Once you flirt and decide you’ve met the one, taking things offline and meeting physically should be done soonest. Here are five reasons your online chats need to move offline sooner rather than later.
1. Truth
Get to know if the person behind the profile pic is who they claim to be. Whether it is a girl or boy doesn’t matter. It doesn’t mean they were genuine simply because they are female, or they are young. Meeting physically helps you eliminate at least one doubt. If they match their picture it might be thumbs up for you. This is only as far as their appearance goes. Other factors come into play thereafter.
2. Get Familiar
Pick a spot that you are familiar with and again, get to know the truth. If they are genuine folks you won’t have to worry because no harm will come to you. When you take it offline ensure that a friend tags along. This friend or friends will help in case things go awry. Meeting them offline brings another aspect of online dating to the ground. If they were fishy at first or seemed too good to be true you will know. Nothing is always as it seems online, once you get offline. The real person will come out when you meet physically.
3. Comfort Zones
Leave the online scene and get a bit uncomfortable. The online scene keeps things very impersonal and people can become anti-social. The longer you stay chatting with someone on the internet the harder it will be to meet. This is because eventually you become comfortable simply chatting. Meeting offline helps you put things into perspective. Either you are suited for each other or not. Additionally, online dating can become addictive as many have attested. It becomes tougher to let go of the keyboard and find a restaurant table instead.
4. Interests
Learn each other’s interests as you go bungee jumping or boating together. These interests will keep the relationship afloat more than any online portal can. If you like movies, take her to the movies and learn what she loves to watch. With real-life meetups, you learn more about a person in a few minutes than you could in hours online. It is the best approach to knowing if you are compatible or not.
5. Bonding
If chatting online has been great it is time to bond off the internet. This will give you a chance to bond on a real level, not a virtual one. Here is where you get to witness responses, reactions, outright disrespect or love like you’d hoped for. Taking things off the internet brings life to a relationship as opposed to visuals online. It also helps you miss the person more once you hop back online.
Bottom Line
Take things offline as soon as you can to avoid time wasting. If the relationship is destined for longevity, it is better to meet sooner rather than later. Why spend more time flirting and engaging online with doubts when you can begin a new life immediately? Meeting online is fun, but the real joy begins in real life.
