Last week model Chanel Iman turned up super early for a cover shoot at Teen Vogue. Instead of wait around or go sip on a latté, she asked if she could help out in the fashion closet, and help she did:
A tickled Teen Vogue staffer said, “To our surprise, she was in such awe over the closet, [her] quick drive-by turned into a day interning with us! While clothing and accessory returns were being made around her, Chanel helped reorganize our closet and proved to be a major asset–there’s nothing like having a tall model around to help restock those high shoe shelves!”
Sounds cute!

Today I decided to take a look at consummate arm candy and budding fashionista…
…Amber Rose!
Say what you want about her short haircut, questionable past, or around the way girl swagger, this future model has been making her fashionable rounds, wearing some of the best pieces–period. Let’s take a look!
When Ms. Rose drops in to fashion shows with style connoisseur Kanye, she makes her mark in coordinated spandex outfits that pop in pink, red, or skin skimming black…
…almost always topped off with a sick pair of shades and clutch.
For red carpet events, she trades in the pants, favoring dresses with long or short hems, finished off with a bright lip and Blue Steel stare:
When she’s out of the spotlight Amber lets it all hang out, going for comfort in her traditional spandex or opting for a pair of easy shorts:
Wherever she goes, she always stands out–perfect for an outstanding up and coming style star.
A noun in the native Yoruba language of Nigeria, Alala means “a dreamer.” The latest collection offers a mixture dresses, shorts, and pants in lush prints and glossy fabrics in colors like gold, electric blue, and bronze.
WWD reports that Beyonce and Mamma Tina are upping House of Dereon options, launching a new junior apparel label aptly named Sasha Fierce:
Tina maintains the collection is, “edgier and trendier and reflects Sasha Fierce’s daring and outgoing attitude” and that it’s “really over the top.” The clothes, as well as the jewelry, eyewear, and shoe options, have already been picked up by Dillard’s and Macy’s, and (in true alter ego style) will be placed right next to Beyonce’s House of Dereon section.
I honestly never had any idea House of D was doing so well that it merited a spin off. It’ll be interesting to see how the new line does, especially since it’s riding the momentum of Beyonce’s (hot) CD and concert tour.
I don’t know how the weather is in your neck of the woods, but in Paris it is HOT. Mix in no air conditioning on subways and in some shops, and you’ve got a sweaty, sticky, mess! And I don’t do mess!
Imagine my elation when my homie Helene gifted me a cute hand fan:
Compact and functional, it helps get a little air circulating. And at $2 each, you can get one in every color to coordinate with your outfits!
About Current Elliott: Emily Current and Merritt Elliott, a pair of LA stylists-turned-designers, launched a new line of chic, desirable denim. They self-advertised their new digs at photo shoots and soon, everyone wanted a pair of the looser, cooler jeans. The Current Elliott label received praise from Vogue magazine’s July issue in citing it as “the most refreshing denim line to come out of LA’s jean scene in a long, long time.â€
Actress Gabrielle Union ditched her typical black outfits, stunting a few nights ago in a striped tank, shorts, and yellow ankle boots:
Her hair is absolutely gorgeous, and I’m always a proponent of cute shorts and a tank in the summer. Still, something about the boot and short combo is making me go hmm…
So I just received a hot pair of Serfontaine Black Fox Jeans in the mail and I’m already in *love*:
Made of soft cotton and elastane, the jeans are comfortable yet supremely flattering to any curvy girls’ body. Bonus: The ankle zipper adds a dash of fashion to your typical pair of skinnies. At $198 they’re a bit of a splurge, but I can see myself wearing these all summer…they’re definitely worth the investment! Peep a few styles here:
