Real Style : Ghubar at Club BC

Hey Bombshells!

So if you follow me on Twitter, you’d know that this past Friday I was having trouble deciding between sitting at home with a DVD or going to Ghubar Magazine’s (www.ghubar-magazine.com) October issue release party. Why?

Well it’s getting frightfully cold here in Paris, and nothing sounded more divine than sipping Mint Tea and watching Tyler Perry! But even though I was in a nesting mood, I eventually decided to throw on my sequined dress and head out. I’m glad I did, because I was able to meet some amazing people and snap Real Style! Check it out:

Sarah Diouf Ghubar Magazine

Sarah Diouf, the 21 year-old editor-in-chief of Ghubar Magazine, looked snazzy in a corset top, high waisted pants, and a sequined blazer. She topped off her chic menswear inspired outfit with strappy stilettos and bright red lipstick. Hot!

Ghubar Magazine

These two young ladies work in the fashion department of the magazine, and represented well for their positions in a high shoulder sheer shirt, leather mini skirt, and platform pumps on the left, and a Chanel inspired blazer, ripped tee, and open toe shoe boots on the right.

Ghubar Magazine the Fashion Bomb

These party goers were working the prints! I loved young lady on the left’s neon floral strapless, and diva on the right’s patterned mini set off by thigh high boots.

Paris Most Wanted the Fashion Bomb

The stylish girls of Paris Most Wanted were in the house, rocking one shoulder denim jumpers and exotic print tops.

Paris Men's Style Ghubar

And men were representing as well, with this dapper gentleman looking fly in stylish specs, a button down shirt, and a cool cardigan.

Naco Karl Who Tee Paris Style

I had to take a pic of this young lady, who was rocking the “Karl Who?” Tee by Naco that we wrote about here. How cool is she?

Paris Style

And I loved this girl’s simple look–Parisians can even make t-shirts and jeans look unequivocally chic!

All in all I had a great time:

And if you haven’t checked out Ghubar Magazine, what are you waiting for?!?

Ghubar Magazine

It represents the best in French mulitcultural style, fashion, and fun. It’s a must read!

Until then, what do you think of Ghubar’s Real Style?

Farewell, Lovelies!

Dear Fashion Bombshells,

After nearly a year and a half of bringing you fashion news, Hot or Hmms, and celebrity features, it’s time to bid you good-bye.

Adri

I started out as just a Fashion Bomb reader, so to write for the site has been a real privilege. For that, I thank Claire tremendously for taking me on as an intern, introducing me to the world of fashion blogging, and allowing me to grow as a writer.

Thanks, too, to Vuitton and Eileen for being wonderful, generous colleagues.

But a lot of the thanks goes to you. The Fashion Bomb’s community of readers is one any writer would be fortunate to serve: warm, smart, and funny, there’s also a basic level of appreciation and respect from all, even when everyone may not agree on the latest Rih-Rih outfit or Beyoncé in a pair of tights.

You can catch me on StyleHive, my blog Curb Appeal, and, starting this week, at Honey Magazine. And always on Twitter @realcurbappeal.

I’ll miss y’all.

Stay fly 🙂
Adriana

Video : 1930s Futuristic Fashion Predictions

My friend sent me over this fun fashion video, and I had to post:

1930s-Futuristic-Fashion-Predictions

In 1930, designers were asked to predict what would be fashionable in the year 2000. Some ideas like pants and the cantilever heel have in fact come to fruition. Others, not so much.

What do you think of their predictions?

Who Wore it Better? Kelly Rowland vs. Amber Rose in Pam Hogg Catsuits

I smell a Halloween costume coming on!!
Normally demure Kelly Rowland donned a metallic paneled catsuit to an event last night that was strikingly similar to a silver number Amber Rose wore to SwaggMedia’s Persona Magazine Launch:

Kelly Rowland Amber Rose Catsuit

Sure the colors are different, but both outfits boast a plunging neckline, contrast panels, and an *ahem* tight fit.

Though Amber Rose and catsuit go together like milk and coffee, I think perhaps Kelly Rowland brought it home in this toe-to-toe. Her dark tendrils play well against her catsuit’s gold, black, and gray tones, and everything from her booties to bedazzled earrings make the outfit shine.

Amber certainly looks saucy…but perhaps it’s those albino contacts that throw her look off.

What do you think?

*Update* According to Love B Scott, the ladies are wearing catsuits from designer Pam Hogg’s Fall 2009 collection:

Mail Bombs : Rihanna’s Rick Owens Leather Jacket, Trey Songz and Fabolous’ Sunglasses, and What to Wear to the Ballet!

It’s a cold Friday in Paris, so I’m staying inside!
Thankfully there are lots of Mail Bombs on tap–let’s go!
First up, Maggie says, “I love Rihanna’s jacket in the picture below!”

Rihanna leather Jacket oversized Collar Rick Owens

“…Do you know who designs it?”

According to several sources, Rih is wearing this Rick Owens’ $3,839 Shearling Peplum Jacket:

The asymmetrical oversized collar jacket is quite a splurge, but you can get Rihanna’s whole look for less here.

Stephanie was totally in love with Ashanti’s pink feathered dress:

She says, “I have been searching since last week for the designer of the dress Ashanti wore to the Empire State building lighting in New York. I thought she looked very beautiful. Can someone please help find the designer of this pink feathered hem dress??”
Hey Stephanie! Industrious reader Martha found that Ashanti is wearing this $310 Notte by Marchesa Strapless silk-georgette dress:

If you just love the silhouette and don’t mind going for a different color, we did find a few more affordable options in black:

Good luck!

Tanise says, “I have been looking for boots similar to these for some time now, but can only find clunky ones.”

Lala's Black Riding Boots

“… Would love to find this exact pair or a similar alternative.”
Sure! Here are some high and low priced options:

Pssst, get Lala’s complete look for less here.

Next, in a Male Mail Bomb, Ernest says, “I’m e-mailing you today regarding a few pairs of shades…I’m looking for the shades Trey Songz and Fabolous were wearing in the new Trey Songz video “Say Ahh…”

Fabolous Trey Songz Sunglasses

“…Please help me if you can…. “

Of course! We did a quick search and found that Fabolous is wearing this pair of $180 Double Down NYC EightyFourSeries Blue Shades:

And it looks like Trey might be wearing these $400 Marc Jacobs Sunglasses from Ssense.com:

Hope that was helpful!

Now for some wardrobe queries!

Alicia from Brooklyn says, “I need some help!  My friend’s wedding is coming up next month in the beautiful country of Trinidad and Tobago and it’s an African themed wedding.  Could you give me some tips on what to wear to the wedding without breaking the bank? I would really appreciate it!  Thank you so much!!”

For weddings, I always love to wear cute dresses! And since you’re going to the Caribbean, you can still flaunt strapless or sleeveless styles. Check out these cute options with ethnic prints and vibrant colors:

Next, Adora says, “I have a date to the Ballet here in Boston. The last time I went to the ballet I was a kid, so I got away with wearing whatever. Now as an adult I have no clue what to wear. I love dresses, skirts and more edgy fashion. I want to still look sexy and young (I am only 22) but appropriately dressed! Could you please help with some outfit options?”
For the ballet, I would play with the idea of a tutu, rocking an age appropriate dress or skirt with a layered hem paired with a grown up blazer or cardigan. Add a little sauce with a cute heel and shimmering clutch. Here are a few ideas:

Lastly, my homegirl over at A Belle in Brooklyn (www.abelleinbk.com) was looking for a black leather jacket that was under $350. We found the following for ya!

That does it for today!
Have great weekends!

Style Inspiration : Genevieve Jones

Socialite Genevieve Jones made an appearance a few nights ago at the 2009 MAD Paperball Gala. As a host committee member and regular on the social circuit, she had to reach into her fashionable arsenal for clothes in simple colors that she could mix and match. For the event she coordinated a cute black and white t-shirt with a patterned skirt, statement making suede platform heels, and a black bolero.

Style Note: Owning neutrals is the key to a fashionable wardrobe, so stock up on separates in black, white, and gray so you can mix and match. To make it work remember, your shoe game must be on point! You don’t have to spend a ton, but you should strive to make a splash!
