So one of my good friends is in town, and of course we went shopping in the fashionable Marais area. As we were exiting a cute vintage store, I happened upon this funky fashionista:
I loved her chic hairstyle, and overall relaxed Sunday look.
After chatting, I found out that her name is Emeline Piot, and she’s a freelance stylist for several international fashion magazines.
Funky style diva Solange Knowles has made her mark on the fashion world by way of her courageous cut, detailed frocks, dangling earrings, and bold makeup choices:
Channel a bit of her unique look with these affordable separates:
Cherice says, ” I recently saw Jazmin Sullivan’s new commercial for Cotton and I’m dying to find out where I can get a printed lady coat like the one she has on.”
“…Please help!”
Sure thing! Get Jazmine’s look with these options:
Asha says, “I DESPERATELY need the shades that June Ambrose wore to the Black Girls Rock event.”
“… Any guidance would be GREATLY appreciated!”
June’s shades look like they could be these $150 Chloé Square framed sunglasses:
If not, the style isn’t hard to mimic with these options:
Lastly, in a wardrobe query, Shanté says, “I really need your help. I’m jumping the broom in Vegas on Halloween….more like eloping. I bought this dress but I have no clue what to wear with it.”
“… The sash is optional and I haven’t decided if I’m wearing it. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!”
Hey Shanté! Congrats!
The dress (without the sash) is relatively plain, so you better dress it up! It’s a celebration!
Pile on glittery rhinestone bangles, slip on a pair of elegantly embellished sandals, and throw on a pair of dangling earrings to kick off your big day. Keep everything neutral in case you decide to add on the colorful sash at the last minutes:
Good luck!
Have amazing weekends y’all, see ya on Monday!
Smootches!
Like any other fashion crazed youth, I’m obsessed with Gossip Girl. While the plot interests me to some degree, the styling is simply beyond. Hence when I saw Serena sauntering the streets of NYC in this gorgeous Alexander Wang dress, my heart skipped a beat.
Jewel tones are great for transitioning from one season to the next, and the asymmetric silhouette is all the rage right now. It rings in at $592, and you can get it here. It may not be available online, but if you’re interested, call the store.
This minaudiere is definitely for the girl with lots of spunk who isn’t afraid to wear her heart on her sleeve. All she has to do is take out the long chain strap and sling it on her shoulder.
The rich satin color also gives it somewhat of a romantic appeal. If you like all things whimsical, get it here. And the great part about it is it’s only $50. Tres bien, no?
With boots of all styles being such a trend this season, it would be soon before long when different designers would start seeking “inspiration” from each other. Givenchy starts the race with its Lace-up Textured Leather boots while Topshop’s AVA Shiny Lace Up Hiker Boot comes in a close second.
Although it’s almost identical to Givenchy’s (with the exception of its textured sole and buckle near the peep-toe) Topshop’s version is obviously cheaper at $190. Though the Givenchy’s ring in at $995, there’s somethng that I appreciate more about them. It may be the hidden platform that makes it look more chic and less “guerilla warfare.”
