Claire’s Life: NYLean25

Hey Hey!
So I received an e-mail a few weeks ago asking me to participate in a new fitness program called NYLean25. Conceived for the super busy girl or guy on the go, NYLean25 workouts last only 25 minutes and involve short spurts of interval training tailored to be super effective.

My only requirements were to go to three classes a week for a month, and follow a diet plan of healthy eating on the three days I took the course. With testimonials vowing 15 pound weight loss in 6 weeks (and with spring drawing near), I figured…why not?

I rushed to their Harlem location at Twirl Fitness Lounge (2303 7th Avenue between 135th and 136th) this past Friday and got to work:

The instructor wasted no time getting moving!

We hopped up and down, alternating between football runs, shoulder lifts, push ups, squats, and abdominals.

I’ve been going strong at Crunch Gym for about five weeks now, so I felt I’d be pretty prepared. Still, I broke out into a serious sweat.

The next day I was sore, achy, the works. All the signs of a good workout!

I can’t wait to continue my fitness journey with NYLean25 and tell you about it along the way. I’m pretty happy with my size, but would love to slim down my stomach and also get super defined arms (I’m thinking Angela Bassett ca. Stella Got her Groove Back). I’ll take another picture at the end–we’ll see if it worked!

If you’re in New York and intrigued, NYLean25 is a super easy way to get in shape–quickly. You can drop in and pay $20 per class, or buy an 18 class/8 week package for $225 or a 36 class/16 week package for $360. They also have convenient locations in Tribeca, Soho, Chelsea, and Harlem. If you’re trying to get right by the summertime, the time is now.

I’ll probably dip into the Tribeca location every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I’ll let you know how it goes!

Fashion Bombshell of the Day: Lisa from New York

Rounding out this week of Bombshells is Lisa from New York:

She says, “Like every girl at an early age I fell in love with fashion when I would see my mother dress in leathers, furs, and cascading gowns-many of which I have managed to rescue from a fate at the Salvation Army.”

” I took my love for fashion to the next level by enrolling at FIT. My style is eye-catching and anything but simple. I’m not afraid to use color to create statements. There isn’t anything I wouldn’t wear or try at least once.”

” My experience in Visual Display allowed me to create presentations and dress mannequins for every type of customer. So it’s easy for me to switch gears from Career Chic to downtown prepster.”

” I used to live in NYC but will mention that I currently reside in Rochester (Upstate New York). Fashion does exist outside the big city:)”

“…When I’m not hiding from the world I can be found at www.physicalcanvas.com.”

Spunky and cute! You certainly have a look and own it!

Claire’s Life: The Fashion Bomb in Ebony Magazine!

So after a dozen people told me via comments and twitter that my picture was in Ebony Magazine’s April 2011 Issue, I finally stepped out to buy it and take a look:

Yup, that’s me sharing the page with legendary model Pat Cleveland, stylist June Ambrose, news correspondent Michelle Miller, and photographer Keith Major. Squeal!!
I was super delighted to see my pic in there, and peruse Ebony’s reworked fashion pages.
I encourage you all to pick up the April issue (with Chris Rock, Steve Harvey, and Monique on the cover) to take a look at their revamped trend pieces, beauty buys, and interviews with industry trendsetters.

It’s the bomb!
*Thx Elaine!

Bee was actually nominated for the feature by her friend Angelica, who says, ” Bee is an amazing stylist! Aside from being a great friend, her fashion sense is impeccable.”

“…She likes to take bits and pieces of everything and make it an outfit. I would say her style reminds me of vintage meets the new age.”

” She is definitely a risk taker and is not afraid to show her bold side. She loves animal print, furs and any Aztec design she can find.”

” Her favorite stores are American Apparel, Urban Outfitters, Nordstroms and many more.”

Ok, Bee! See you have quite the bag selection.

Our next Bombshell and contestant for our J Brand Jeans giveaway is Nashea from Minneapolis, Minnesota:

The wife and mother of twin girls says, “I LOVE fashion and have self titled my addiction as “fashionista-all day-swag-itis” also known as just STUPID FLY SICK LOL!”

“… I would describe my sense of style as urban glam/gossip girl LOL!.”

“…I love to play with different animal prints but I also like classic looks or pieces for mommy and me days. Most of the time I get in my closet and re-vamp pieces that I already had and update them with the latest trends (like most trends they have ALL come back into style one way or the other).”

“Most of my pieces require for me to be pretty crafty LOL! Although I love to look like a million bucks (or like I have expensive taste)..I am DEF a diva on a budget so shopping on the hunt for a deal is my past time when I’m not in mommy or wife mode.”

” My dream wardrobe would consist of A Studded Spring/Summer 2011 Burberry Prorsum jacket, a pair of rustic Adriano Goldschmidt jeans, A Hermes Bag and a pair of Bronze/Tan Camilla Skovgaard Calskin Cut Out Sandals.”

Love your wish list! And you have a gorgeous, gorgeous family.
