Claire’s Life: Summer Sizzle BVI Sponsored by BlackAtlas.com

Happy Monday!

So a few weeks ago, I was invited to the British Virgin Islands to experience their annual fashion event, Summer Sizzle. I’d never been to the BVI (as they’re called), and am always open to new international fashion experiences, so decided to go and see what was what.

After flying in on American Airlines and enjoying two days of poolside relaxation, parties, and dinners, we were shuttled to the main event on Tortola: The annual fashion show.

On tap were local designers like Bayroc Clothing, along with several well known international names like Laquan Smith, Rubin Chapelle, and Kevan Hall.
Bayroc Clothing skewed cute and casual with crisp shirts, shorts, and tank dresses decorated with hand painted designs.

One of my personal favorites was Aquacouture by Roger Gary, a line of glam swimwear cast in white, uplifted by sequins, chiffon trains, and silk accents.

Kevan Hall showed a bevy of glittering gowns in a neutral palette of white, champagne, silver, and nude.

And lastly Laquan Smith presented a few of his traditional netted, neon, PVC infused pieces, along with a few options from his newest untitled collection, which offers high low hems and loads of sporty elegance.

It was a good show!

Afterwards I snapped a bit of Real Style:

T’Wana from the blog HeelsNPoses.blogspot.com opted for chic black, punctuated by a bright neon bag. She said she’d submit pictures soon to be Bombshell of the Day. Looking forward!

Kisha also bet on black in a form fitting peplum dress.

Simone kept it colorful in a printed strapless dress and a statement necklace.

And model KC looked gorgeous in a flowing colorblocked dress, accented by platform Mary Janes.

As for me…

… I went for an island senorita vibe in a Kenzo reversible drawstring skirt, American Apparel crop top, American Apparel yellow clutch, LyraLoveStar earrings, and neon orange patent leather Christian Louboutin wedges. I was feeling all sun kissed and glowy, so opted for fun, bright, colors, along with a pop of Lady Danger lipstick.
It was a fun trip and just a taste of what the islands has to offer!
If you’ve never been to the British Virgin Islands–come! It is hands down one of the most beautiful tropical destinations I’ve ever seen (aside from the Bahamas–shout out to the fam!). The water is clear, the sun is blazing, and aside from a few thunder storms, it’s very peaceful. I’m coming back!

Fashion Bombshell of the Day: Zeinabou from Miami

We’re ending this week with a bang! Prepare your chic palate for today’s Bombshell, Zeinabou from Miami:

She says, “I don’t really know how I would describe my style!”

I do believe my influence comes from places I’ve traveled to as well as attending school in London, Swaziland, and Senegal.”

” I am always trying to find a way to express myself creatively mostly through cooking, music, and fashion which I like to share on my blog www.theshoegawker.com.”

” I enjoy dressing up for myself even if it’s to the grocery store, that is what I grew up seeing with my mother and grandmother.”

I loved seeing women in Senegal that would dress in their most expensive clothes just go to the market or to a friend’s house, that’s the Africa people neglect to show…”

” I’m no good at talking about myself so in an attempt to not write a boring essay I’ll stop while ahead…”

“I hope you can showcase my style and see what your lovely readers think!”

“You can check me out on www.followgram.me/theshoegawker ( Instagram), (Twitter) www.twitter.com/theshoegawker and (Facebook) www.facebook.com/theshoegawker.”

Consider me a new follower! LOVE your shoes, your hair, your all around style! I can’t pick a favorite outfit, they all were lovely. Work it mamma, you did that!

Fashion Bomber of the Day: Julius from Philly

Today’s Fashion Bomber is Julius from Philadelphia:

He didn’t say much, so we’ll have to let his pictures speak for themselves.

He did offer, “My style is free…”

“Edgy.”

“Retro…”

“… and classy in one. “

Well, you certainly love your sunglasses, don’t you? Your looks are solid. And is that Solange in your pic?

Fashion Bombshell of the Day: Kiana from Miami

Check out Kiana, a 20-year-old Bombshell from Miami, Florida:

She says, “I currently go to school full time and write for my personal style blog Young, Wilde & Free.”

“I truly believe fashion is supposed to be fun. I don’t believe it was made for one type of person but for all to enjoy and experiment with.”

I treat each day as an adventure and try to express that through my clothing. If I’m feeling fun and colorful one day I may throw on my favorite sneakers with a graphic tee, the next day I could feel girly and wear a skirt and heels.”

I may receive a few confused looks for the way I dress or how I style my hair and that’s fine, in the back of my mind I always remember that life’s too short to live in black and white.”

At the end of the day be who you want, wear what you want and always be willing to evolve and experiment with new styles. Take care :)”

I love your tomboy vibe and how you mix feminine pieces with athletic elements. Great photos (and cute hair)!
Bombshell!

Fashion Bomber of the Day: Kindell from Ohio

Today’s Fashion Bomber is Kindell from Columbus, Ohio:

He writes, “I am an ambitious 19-year-old, currently in the process of opening my own boutique here in Columbus.

“I love fashion and clothes: womens, mens, childrens. It really doesnt matter!”

“My style is very eclectic!! Eclectic- Deriving ideas, styles, or taste from a broad and diverse range or sources.”

“I can never plan an outfit unless I am styling someone, well I can but I am very quick to change my mind. Planning an outfit for myself it can be hard at times. I rather get dressed based on how I feel at the moment or depending on where I am going.”

“I try not to shop much at main stream retail stores unless I see a piece I have to have. I love the thrift store with my life! I’m the type of person to spend hours at the thrift store purchasing EVERYTHING that catches my attention. If I see something that I cant fit, I’ll buy it for someone or just to have it, all of my “idk why i brought this pieces” come in handy when I have to quickly dress a friend.”

” I’m a faithful viewer of this sight! I’m on it everyday, I have always wanted to become “the bomber”. I just never had the courage. And today I have it, I hope you enjoy my looks :)”

I do! And you and your friends make a fierce group.

Fashion Bomber of the Day: Kabiru from Chicago

Though most of our recent bombers have excelled in the suit department, Kabiru from Chicago triumphs with relaxed, easy ensembles that exude effortless style:

He was actually submitted by his friend, avid reader Talicia, who writes, “Since I’ve been seeing all of these bombers, I just knew I had to send in pics of my best friend and brother from another mother :)”

“Aside from being the funniest person you will ever meet, he has a great sense of style.”
