Want a fabulous Caribbean excursion mixed with style?
I’d recommend checking out British Virgin Island’s annual Summer Sizzle event.
Set in a deliciously verdant environment, the fashion extravaganza attracts international design stars as well as local talent, in addition to stylists, journalists, and celebrities.
From July 24th-28th, you can enjoy everything from sailing excursions to all white parties to beach escapes!
I’ll be going (with Fashion Bomb photog Karl Pierre), and I’m actually co-hosting the fashion show along with Kenny Burns!
I have never….ever…ever hosted a fashion show or anything of any kind! So it should be interesting.
If you can’t make it this year, keep an eye out for pix, and also set a reminder for next year. It’s always a fun time.

” My style isn’t very easy to put into words! There are a few quotes about fashion and style that mirror my mentality.”
“”Fashions fade, style is eternal.” – Yves Saint Laurent”
“”Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak.” – Rachel Zoe”
“”Fashion is what you buy. Style is what you do with it.””
“I was born in Nigeria and came to the US as a little girl; therefore, from the very beginning I’ve always looked and been different from the people around me.”
” We didn’t have a lot, so buying what every other child had was out of the question.”
“… This is how I learned to observe the fads of fashion, catch, and even begin to predict staple items.”
” I found my voice in style very early and wasn’t afraid of continuing to be different.”
” I’m not even sure if I can remember a time I’ve wanted to fit in!”
” So my style is me, it’s vintage, playful, unpredictable, it’s “hey, where did you get that?”, it’s “only you could pull that off”, unable to be replicated and definitely not one to blend into the crowd.”
“I began blogging and constantly taking photos of my outfits since around 2006-’07 in the early days of WordPress and Blogger with my best friend Sade.”
” Now we run our own blog together, Soul of a Lion or SOAL for short where we document our love for food, traveling, fashion, school, and being ourselves. “
Love your description, and adore your fearlessness. You’re a Bombshell!

As promised, we have more Street Style from the Essence Music Festival!
Saturday saw an all white day party, hosted by Covergirl, along with a walk down Bourbon Street. Take a look at our gallery to see the best instances of street chic (click the thumbnails to enlarge):
On my way out, I said hey to model Keenyah Hill and Derek J from Bravo’s Fashion Queens.
Then it was time to come home, upload some Street Style, and prepare for the Prince Concert!
Keep an eye peeled for that recap on TheBombLife.com. I’ve been slacking on updating that, but it’s a busy weekend!
Hope you’re enjoying yours as well;)

We’re ending the week with a bang! Check out Fauzia from Nairobi, Kenya:
She was actually submitted by her friend, reader Pretty Girl Lace, who wrote, “I wanted to introduce you to a gorgeous Kenyan Somali who currently lives in Nairobi [Kenya’s capital] and is only one of many and just a representation of the fashion/entertainment scene we have in the City!”
“Not only do we have Lupita, we have her and many others in the City of Nairobi who represent the unseen and unexpected aspects of the African Continent!”
” Africa is not only what we see in the media!”
Her name is Fauzia and she doesn’t know I’m submitting this on her behalf but I thought I’d try [I know you have so many submissions].”

It’s Friday, so we’re featuring a male reader’s style! Our 4th of July contender is Darren from LA:
The graduate of Hampton University writes, “ My style is tremendously versatile, its right in the middle of dapper and edgy.“
” For me, style is all about being bold…”
“…. and wearing what I want.”
” I never strive to box myself into one specific category of men’s fashion because I have an appreciation for all of it.”
” You may see me wearing a custom made slim fit suit one day…”
“… and the next day I’m rocking leather pants, beanie cap, and a plaid shirt tied around my waist.”
” My latest men’s fashion creative moment was with some cool distressed overalls from Zara!”
I think you described your style perfectly! Versatile and bold…you’re a Bomber!
Follow Darren if you’re feeling him on Instagram @thereal_darren.

Reader LadyWone wrote in on yesterday’s Bombshell post, saying, “I submitted my pictures (a lot of pictures) I am not afraid of these young people. I welcome the challenge I can tell they are young from the rude comments that have been made on past nominations. I think this is almost like amateur night at Showtime at the Apollo.” I wrote her back saying we’d feature her this week. So I present you Ledonna from Chicago:
She wrote, “ Age:40.”
” Occupation: Network Engineer.”
” Passion: helping people choose the clothing that makes them feel special.”
“…From the thrift stores.”
” Church: yes.”
” Work: yes.”
” Relationship: yes.”
More here:
Work! I applaud your confidence and courage. I tend to go for more simple ensembles, so your more pared down looks are my favorites.

Fashion Bomb Street style photographer Brandon Isralsky is back to patrolling the New York City Streets on our behalf. Leave a comment and let us know how he’s doing!
Until then, take a look at who he snapped over the past few days:
Are those platinum blond braids I see? I love them! A perfectly coiffed bun topped this young lady’s printed button down and shorts.
This red head’s beauty was enhanced by her cherry red printed dress and Louis Vuitton bag.
A belted striped dress and converse sneakers made for an interesting daytime look.
Lastly, a cigarette was this purple haired fashionisto’s main accessory. He puffed casually as Brandon snapped his sheer shirt, long shorts, and socks with boots.

Today’s Bombshell is Shanika from Bridgeport, Connecticut:
She says, “I go by Shoegurlnik on Instagram because I lovee shoes & absolutely love fashion.”
” I’ve always had a driven passion for fashion. Growing up people would always tell me (even today) I should model or style other people just by how I come up with great ideas putting my clothes together.”
” There is no price on style.”
” My style is edgy, creative but also girly with a twist of class at the end.”
” Developing your personal fashion style is a way to express your individuality. Instead of blending in you want people to know who you are and what you stand for.”
“I’ve never been big on following crowds I’m not afraid to be myself and go out the box and show people what I’m all about and still stay classy. It’s the best feeling expressing yourself through clothes and whichever Mood I may be in.”
” It’s like building your own brand. The clothes you wear say a lot about your personality and lifestyle – and you want to express yourself in a way that is true about you.”
” I would love to be featured on the Fashion Bomb Daily page, thank you guys so much for always keeping me updated in the fashion world. Xxo Shanika.”
You’re very welcome! You’ve got some hot shots. Jazzy and fabulous!
See more on Instagram @Shoegurlnik.
