” I like to incorporate color, texture and prints in most of my fashions.”
“When I get dressed, I ask myself, “What am I wearing that could potentially spark a conversation?”

Amongst a slew of style-stars that sat front row, Lanvin presented a collection that was ethereal and mixed with metallics and color, although none too bright for the eye transitioning into Fall.
Throughout the collection, prints mixed as jacquard jackets married embroidered tops and textured bottoms. Hues of golds, yellows, greens and blues sailed down the runway, marked with black for added class and soft, subtle shading for ease. Almost floor-length hemlines hit the runway as lace dresses and intense outwear made their appearance; in general, nothing seemed too heavy to the eye or crazily out of place, rather a much more calm and collected version of seasons past (probably due to the accounted for absence of Creative Director, Alber Elbaz).
Dresses did not hug the body too tight nor fall too lose; random shades of metallics livened up the collection, whether in dresses, separate attire or in large fur coats of burnt oranges and neutrals.
Still with all of its subtlety, the collection was one of timeless pieces and perhaps a new mark on the aesthetic and branding that Lanvin is heading in. But with time.
What do you think of Lanvin’s Fall 2016 collection?
K. Michelle showed off her hour glass shape during her More Issues Than Vogue listening party in a $425 Elizabeth and James Sophia Sheath dress and black Giuseppe Zannoti Madeline heels.
The sleeveless roundneck dress features asymmetrical button details on the side and a slit in the front.
The knee length bodycon dress has a racerback.
The songstress wore Giuseppe Zanotti Madeline sandals on her feet.
Obsessed with K. Michelle’s little white dress!
Want to purchase her look? You can find her Elizabeth and James dress here . Unfortunately the sandals are no longer in stores but you can check out current Giuseppe Zanotti heels here.
The Parisian streets buzzed with intoxicating energy on Day 2 of Paris Fashion Week! There are few designers that truly bring the magic and wonder in their runway shows, but today saw a few brands a far cut above the rest, including FBD favorite Dries Van Noten. The ‘fashion show’ has evolved with the rise of social media, but the purpose of the runway collection was always to present a view or interpretation that was wholly original with balanced attention to the commercial viability of the products. Despite today’s distractions, here’s to hoping that emerging and seasoned brands alike strive for this magic and wonder in their Fall 2016 collections.
Eccentricity at Maison Margiela
Creative director John Galliano has certainly found his footing at Maison Margiela. This collection was all about ‘beauty and brutality . . . surrealism and realism.’ Yes, these were somewhat vague terms, but it also meant that almost anything could go for his Fall 2016 RTW presentation. Models were walking embodiments of this scattered symphony with dyed hair, comical waist-cinching belts, green clover decals, and military coats; however, with Galliano, we must celebrate the method to his madness.
Exuding Elegance at Dries Van Noten
If you’ve read our previous takes on Dries Van Noten, then you know that team FBD (and Rihanna!) supports the brand’s decadent, art/history/nature-inspired masterpieces. 20th-century femme fatale Marchesa Luisa Casati and the poet Gabriele D’Annunzio were the source of inspiration for the 66-piece collection. The smudged eyeshadow, the cricket sweaters, and the leopard-print pants were lasting touches – it was all controlled drama and in the only way we have come to expect from Dries Van Noten.
Dreaming at Rochas
Dreamy was the word of the hour and so much so, at times the Rochas Fall 2016 RTW collection felt like Spring. Save for a few heavy fur coats, the collection was super bright color-wise: citrus, peach, orange, and chartreuse added shots of lightness. Socks and satin platforms were the perfect festive accessories for Rochas’ version of fall. Even better, you can order looks straight off the runway next week, à la Moda Operandi.
Power Play at H&M
Major excitement was afoot for H&M Studio‘s Fall 2016 RTW collection. The Swedish fast fashion retailer brought out the big guns with a super-famous model line-up. Amber Valletta, Jourdan Dunn, and Natasha Poly led the pack, followed by powerhouses Ashley Graham, Andreja Pejic, Pat and daughter Anna Cleveland. But what about the clothes? Traditional Swedish folk dress was reconstructed into clever crop tops and over-the-knee boots – at least it was a modern-day interpretation.
And The Rest…
Vionnet‘s musical ode to the piano, harpsichord, and accordion generated flowing gowns accented with geometric detailing while Lemaire put forth a rationalized offering, simple pieces in neutral tones. Cédric Charlier played with the seaside through sailor buttons that trimmed pants, jackets, and even a honey-yellow knit dress.

You know Beyoncé can never let us take a break! She dropped “Formation” in the middle of the day on a Saturday and it looks like the tracklist for her new album—possibly with the same title—may have just leaked:
There are countless sites, Instagram feeds, Tumblrs, Pinterest boards, and Twitter accounts dedicated to her every move: par for the course when you’re one of the world’s biggest superstars. Reaction Beyoncé just tweeted out this potential tracklist:

We’re not one for fodder, but like most of the world, we’re just trying to keep up with King Bey! We’re working on confirming this news, but there’s a large chance she’ll just release it when we least expect it. Regardless, stay tuned!
Dolce & Gabbana has been recently enjoying a rush of positive PR thanks to their magical runway at their Fall 2016 show in addition to their recent line of hijabs. However, they’ve made a critical misstep with their new “Slave” sandals.
The colorful pom pom sandals are a part of the Spring 20’16 collection and are now available online for pre-order. The sandals are on their website under the full name of the “Slave Sandal in Napa Leather with Pom Poms” and priced at $2,395.
Interestingly, the sandals are also available on other retailers websites like Saks Fifth Avenue with the names “Pom Pom Wrap Around Sandal” and the “Pom-Pom Leather Lace-Up Sandal.” It seems these retailers found it necessary to change the offensive name, unlike Dolce & Gabbana.
According to Footwear News, “While the term is, in fact, a description for a particular lace-up shoe silhouette, it is almost entirely obsolete with the now widely-preferred description “gladiator sandals.”
The brand has yet to make a statement and so may are left wondering about this controversial decision when a less offensive term has been used for so long. What do you think of the brand using the term “slave”?
*Obviously D&G started feeling the heat, as the sandal is now named, “Decorative Sandal in Napa Leather with PomPoms” on the site.
