If you’re getting into any Christmas festivities this weekend, consider copying this gorgeous look worn by Garcelle Beauvais. It’s festive (but not too festive) and the colors used work on every shade of brown.
What’s great about a look like this is since it’s not a precision look, you can nail it no matter your level of makeup expertise. Start off by applying a foundation for both your skin type and coverage needs (see Foundation 101 for tips) and lightly dust powder to set. To get your shadow to stay put, apply an eyeshadow base like MAC Paint on the eyelids or to kick things up a notch, try NYX Cosmetics Jumbo Pencil in White. Then sweep a sheer silvery shade on the lid and blend using a circular motion–be sure to lightly tap your eyeshadow brush before applying to the lids to avoid excess shadow from falling on your face. Then take a gunmetal shadow and smudge it along both the upper and lower lashline using a small contoured eyeshadow brush.
Black Radiance Dynamic Duo Eye Shadow in Chrome/Steel is great to try as it contains both the silver and gunmetal shades in one compact for just $2.99 plus the pigmentation is amazing. Line the top and bottom waterlines with black liner and apply 2-3 coats of mascara.
To get Garcelle’s glowly cheeks, first apply a rosy blush on the apples of the cheeks (try Black Radiance Artisan Baked Blush in Warmed Berry) and then apply a highlighter on the tops of the cheekbones (try NARS The Multiple in St. Barts). For the lips, apply a sheer beige-brown gloss like MAC Lustreglass in Beaux. Quick lip tip: if your natural lip color is very pigmented or two-toned and you want to try a neutral lip color, simply “blot” them out by applying a little of your concealer on them and then apply your gloss.
Hope your Christmas weekend is merry and bright, Bombshells!
