While I opted for schoolgirl chic on Day 1, I felt Day 2 called for color!

The kind folks over at Rent the Runway were nice enough to send over a few dresses for me to flaunt during Fashion Week, and I was instantly drawn to Thakoon’s So Electrifying Dress (retail $990, rental $125):

I loved the hot pink color and the saucy peak of leg! The dress was a little racy for daytime, so I decided to tone it down a bit with a similarly vibrant yellow Theory Stretch Cotton blazer, and complete with a bold lime Proenza Schouler PS1, and neon orange Christian Louboutin wedges (at the end of the day, it’s all about comfort).

I’ve been playing around with a few different hairstyles for Fashion Week, so opted to pull my braids into a high pony to let the outfit play center stage.

A few swipes of MAC’s cremesheen glass lusher, richer gloss, and I was ready to take on the day!

What do you think?

  1. I have to admit, once again, you are totally my inspiration. I am taking courage to dye my hair but to a red tone, (dread locks) but instead i might first do some red box braids, its so hot right now (thanks Solange), Im going to try it out !!! Also love your style, you’re the best!!! Keep it up Claire!!!

  2. Nice and Awesome!!! You may be an inspiration for those who thinks one can’t be stylish without having a so called “zero figure”. With a nice fit body one can be stylish and look great. Thanks for inspiring me.

  3. I see you with your cleavage Claire! Normally you’re covered up top but you better work! :)

  4. No, i am not loving this outfit on you. individually, the pieces are nice but together, they look quite misplaced

  5. yes yes and yes to the long hair.

Claire, I know ur not a big fan of ‘non’ natural hair but your going in the right direction. Lookin fresh to go!!

  6. I think the split in your dress and cleavage is a bit much, maybe I’m a prude. You still look hot nonetheless. I love your braids!

  7. Claire, i must admit the outfit is quite refreshing, and i love the color of the blazer with the braids. I’m not a fan of the neon orange shoes though. At least not with this outfit. I probably would’ve tried electric blue or perhaps a pop of green. But ho–nn–eyyyy you are tonnned to the bone! You do pick rather amazing pieces that are perfect for your shape! So chic

  8. I think you look like a MILLION bucks! Agree with Ladyvanilegance on the color of the shoes, however every piece you selected flatters you perfectly.

  9. Claire you look great, but you kill me with the shoes. A simple black pump like the pigalle louboutins would work rather nicely with this outfit. Even those white Alexander wang pumps you own could work. A+ on everything else. Your hair and the color, love it!

  10. Dress love .. Everything else no, I didn’t think the dress was too much & I would of liked it if you wore it solo w. a nice oversized clutch (nude, prints etc) .. & for comfort the shoes you had on is good

  11. I wish I could see more of the dress on you :( the blazer is cute but sort of swallows it up. I understand why you wore it though. I wouldn’t necessarily wear those shoes with that outfit, but they are super cute!

And yaaaay to braids!! I just took mine out but did a 30 day braid challenge where I did different styles for 30 days. I posted the pics on instagram if you’re interested (cagreinvented) hashtag #30daybraidchallenge to just see the pics of the different styles . I would like to see you try some updos during NYFW. Your hair can be your perfect accessory!

    Have fun!!

  12. Hi Claire’s
You look great, and I love your style, the way you change, but stay the same, you are natural and I love that about you. Stunning.
