Bebe is at it again, this time going after a Spring 2009 look from Rodarte’s collection:
I’m pretty sure Rodarte duo Kate and Laura Mulleavy wouldn’t be too pleased with the way Bebe’s turned out, and neither am I. The ombre in Bebe’s dress looks unfinished, the textures seem to have cheapened the look, and there isn’t as much volume in the tulle.
Needless to say, at $229 Bebe’s Shred Party Dress is significantly less expensive than Rodarte’s–great for any recessionista. Then again maybe this look shouldn’t have been “duplicated” to begin with.

While I thought the Rodarte dress was an amazing piece of fashion art I didn’t think it was wearable. The bebe version is neither art nor wearable and is just hideous.
I don’t like either of them.
