Whew!

I tell you, the past few have been a complete blur! As we prepare for New York Fashion Week and all the dope upcoming festivities (wink, wink), it’s only necessary to take a quick glimpse back at some of our favorite fashion sweethearts and the breathtaking outfits that kept left us gasping for more.

So, without further ado, let’s dive right in!

1) Rihanna in L’Impasse NYC

The 2016 MTV Video Music Awards were held this past Sunday and the stars didn’t hold back when it came to slaying on (and off) the red carpet. With jaw-dropping performances from a plethora of the world’s finest performers including Britney Spears, Ariana Grande and (the recipient of this year’s MTV Vanguard Award) the Bad Gal herself, Rihanna. While the songstress hit the stage a total of four times, the Bajan beauty also held us captive with her eccentric ensembles. Yet, it was this olive, semi-sheer fringed number from L’Impasse NYC that struck all the right chords. Hot!

2) Olivia Culpo in Self Portrait

I don’t know what rock I’ve been hiding under but Olivia Culpo is everything! I really didn’t know much about this stunning style maven but, after a little research and some slight Instagram stalking, I realized that she is one of the hottest fashion up-and-comers in the game. The former Miss USA was spotted in Australia while wearing  a Self Portrait Guipere Lace Multicolor Floral Mini Dress, Aquatalia ‘Rochelle’ black ankle boots and an Aspinal of London Mini Trunk Bag. Now, I have a confession: I fell head over heels for the intricacy of this dress! The colors, the design, the silhouette… Simply flawless!

3) Nicki Minaj in Bao Tranchi

Nicki Minaj flaunted her enviable bod at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards while uplifting a form-fitting, royal blue gown from Bao Tranchi. While the dress boasts strategic cutouts, a fishtail effect and extensive sheer paneling, it also emits tons of sultry and feminine vibes. The rapper/actress topped off her look with a sleek ‘do, matching nails and delicate diamond accents. She looks fantastic!

4) Jennifer Lopez in Balmain

Up next, we have the lovely Jennifer Lopez! The multi-talented powerhouse made an eye-catching appearance at a Marquee event in NYC as she showed off her toned gams in a gold sequin-embellished Balmain mini dress. SlayLo’s look also features long sleeves, burnt orange suede accents, a fitted waist and an endless shimmer. Metallic accessories were the icing on the cake. Gosh, this woman just amazing – if you have any question about her status as a ‘”fashion icon”, I can’t say I necessarily agree. She kills it, repeatedly. End of story.

5) Beyoncé in Elie Saab

Of course, Beyonce’s attendance (and her mind-numbing 15-minute performance) was another highlight from the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards! Prior to the show, the superstar graced the red carpet alongside her adorable daughter Blue Ivy and there was no doubt that they stopped the entire world in its tracks. Throughout the night, Bey changed looks about three more times. But, what else do you expect from the Queen?! Yet, it was her Elie Saab Fall 2015 Haute Couture gold embroidered jumpsuit that received over 8,000 like via Instagram. I guess numbers never lie, right?

Model, actress and philanthropist Karrueche Tran was spotted in LA wearing Nasty Gal’s Make Me Mesh Bodysuit and Christian Louboutin Cora Heart Sandals:

The Make a Mesh Bodysuit comes in peach mesh and features a mock neck, cold shoulder cut-outs, striped micromesh throughout, snap button closure at bottom, open keyhole back, back button closure at neck, and lining at bust.

Her patent leather, round-toe sandals feature a PVC heart on the vamp, 4″ covered heel and adjustable ankle strap.

Karrueche’s ensemble is simple and casual.  I can dig it!

Kae’s sandals are no longer sold in stores but you can purchase her bodysuit here for $48.

The sleeveless, stretch-knit, black dress features a semi-sheer open knit paneling and raised seam detailing throughout.

It’s almost time to say goodbye to summer and welcome fall with open arms. I for one am so ready for sweater weather, but the transition from summer to fall can be a bit tricky. The trick to updating your wardrobe is all in the layering, so today I’ve curated four fabulous outfit ideas to transition your look with a few of the season’s most notable trends.

Update your bomber jacket with an off-the-shoulder twist. Add layers with a standard button down shirt and faux leather leggings.

Add the finishing touch with a small monogram chain bag, black ankle-strap sandals, and silver jewelry.

The old rule of “no white after Labor Day” is long gone. Rework your summer whites into a casual fall look with a distressed white tee paired with white ripped skinny jeans and a khaki trench coat.

Complete the look with a pair of perspex heels, a brown suede mini handbag, and gold tone sunglasses.

Varsity jackets are the new bomber. Throw one over a black tank top and coated mini skirt for a back-to-school feel.
