A few days ago, Kanye West caused a small digital kerfuffle when he posted the following announcement on Twitter, calling for multiracial models for his Yeezy Season 4 show.
Many interpreted his specific casting request to mean that only wanted women of mixed race–anyone else could look elsewhere.
Peep a few tweets below:
An unofficial poll of the Fashion Bomb Daily staff during tonight’s conference call saw no harm in Ye’s announcement. At FBD, we tout ourselves as the #1 online destination for the multicultural fashionista; what we mean is that we welcome Bombshells from all walks of life, no matter their shape, size, culture, country, or race! We’d only like to assume that Mr. West had the same intent, and wanted to see a diverse selection of models.
In sum, we don’t think Kanye has a color issue.
But only time will tell. His show goes down here in New York on September 7th. Anyone got extra tickets?
Either way, stay tuned here for the review.
What do you think?
Was Kanye’s announcement offensive?
After a long work week for us all, sometimes it’s the little things like spending time with your family and close friends during a holiday that matter. But when you’re Beyoncé, the little things turn out to be not so… little, especially when your birthday falls on a holiday weekend. The birthday diva took things to the era of disco decadence with a Soul Train themed birthday party. A slew of our favorite celebs were spotted in the building in their best seventies garb, and as usual, we’ve got the skinny on this get down!
The Carters came through in style. Jay-Z sported a paisley printed button-down and Beyoncé rocked a long, brocade Ashish coat to conceal her first of several outfits for the evening. Loving the big, curly hair and those $795 Giueseppe Zanotti Gold ‘Lavinias’!
Solange, her son Julez, and husband Alan Ferguson were snapped entering the fête. Solange layered a bright green leather coat over a rose-quartz colored robe, and finished the look with Paula Cademartori sandals. Julez looked the part in a mustard colored plaid suit and white sneakers. Alan was fly in an apricot colored suit with wide peak lapels on the blazer. Aren’t they #wardrobegoals?
The “Godiva Goddess”, Kelly Rowland, was all smiles and ready to party with husband, Tim Witherspoon. The pair matched in shades of brown, Kelly STUNNINGLY gave Donna Summer realness in a shimmering, bronze low cut jumpsuit, cinched at the waist with a sash. Tim donned an afro, shiny brown bowling shirt and a pair of Saucony sneakers. I like it!
Carmelo Anthony and wife, Lala, walk hand in hand as they get ready to join in on the festivities. Carmelo channeled his inner hippie in a short-sleeve printed shirt with peach pants and a scarf tied around his afro. Lala brought disco back with her disco ball inspired Bedford Street Laundry two-piece ensemble and $1,095 Saint Laurent ‘Candies’ Studded Platform Sandals.
Given how much Serena Williams has been absolutely slaying at the US Open, the tennis phenom celebrated with Bey during a break before the quarterfinals begin. Serena sported Black Panther inspired garb, and we are here for all of it, sequined shorts included.
It’s clear Usher loves a themed party. The R&B crooner looked like a 70’s rock band member with his perfectly picked afro, long, gold jacquard coat, red tuxedo pants and cowboy boots. Play on, playa!
Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys weren’t too far behind. Swizz, who spent some time on the ones and twos, was fly as ever in a burgundy Kangol cap, sunglasses, grey glen-plaid trousers and a pair of Converse sneakers. Alicia grinned for the camera while wearing a fringed vintage tee, flared jeans and wooden clogs.
Hey Jourdan! The supermodel and “Yonce” girl beamed as she sashayed into the venue. She paired her big Diana Ross inspired hair with a Balmain red cutout jumpsuit.
Janelle Monae was psychadelic in houndstooth from head to toe. The peacoat, high-waisted mini skirt and pageboy cap in this dizzying print were offset by neon pink lipstick. She never gets it wrong in black and white! Nate “Rocket” Wonder continued the black and white motif in a striped shirt and cropped black trousers.
Kendrick Lamar and his fiancée, Whitney Alford, were in attendance, in their best soul seventies wear. This abstract geometric coat with the fur trim is everything I need right now.
Chance The Rapper was set to let loose in a vintage graphic tee, flared blue pants, and vintage sneakers.
Chloe x Halle say they’ve got soul. Chloe slayed in a turquoise jumpsuit and gold platforms while Halle sported an afro, sequined shorts and thigh high boots.
And last, but not least, is June Ambrose, who, of course, came to slay in a Helen Yarmak Feathered Cape and a Limpasse Couture tribal patterned black jumpsuit. That honey-hued afro…everything!
Fun times were had by all! For more, scroll below for a few Instagram pics, snapped from inside the festivities. Once again, from Fashion Bomb Daily, we wish Queen Bey a very happy birthday! Love, peace, and soul!
Beyoncé and Chance The Rapper strike a pose. Usher and Jay-Z spot something groovy.
Kelly Rowland and Lala Anthony shimmer, don’t they?
Diddy, Cassie, and June Ambrose take the party to the kitchen.
Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz pose for a pic in a vintage looking corridor. Usher and wife Grace Miguel pose with Kelly Rowland and hubby Tim Witherspoon.
It’s a “Yonce” reunion as Chanel Iman, Jourdan Dunn and Joan Smalls ham it up with stylist, Ty Hunter.
Kelly Rowland and Serena Williams can’t match Ty’s height with his amazing afro.
Kendrick Lamar and Swizz Beatz in the beam of that TyLite.
We’re going down to Dallas for today’s Bombshell! See what Tiereny sent our way:
She writes, “My styles ranges from both ends of the spectrum.”
” Some days I feel very prissy and classy..”
“…Other days I’m in tomboy mode & I’m wearing pieces from the men’s section.”
” I love mixing different styles together to make it my own, especially androgynous looks, but most importantly I like to keep it simple.”
” Minimalism is my favorite.”

Puff Daddy aka Sean Combs recently unleashed a new campaign for Cîroc Vodka, underscoring the importance of working hard for one’s success.
His story really hits home, and embodies all of the values I promote on TheBombLife.com. Mr. Combs narrates,”Everything I’m living now, I dreamt about it. I knew that I had to work hard to get it and I wanted it. I got my first job when I was 12. I didn’t settle at one paper route, I got 4 paper routes. My mother had four jobs. I [saw] her work ethic. It was instilled in me at an early age: It’s not gone be on your time, it’s not gone be on your schedule. You have to be patient. And me not giving up, the opportunity arose. You gotta keep driving, keep working, falling down, getting up, falling down, getting up…and then you finally get to it. What I do now, is I open doors. I do it for we. It’s our turn now. Let’s get it.”
I’m inspired! Are you?

The bold, red, fox-fur, heart shaped cape is designed with exaggerated structured shoulders to accentuate the feminine shape and is finished with slash armholes and a delicate silk lining.
Rihanna matched her cape with red lips and a black cap.
In the words of most of our Instagram followers, “only Rihanna can pull this off,” and I agree!
I’m a fan of this look!
If you’re prepared to drop a few stacks, you can purchase the YSL cape here for $15,753.
