Gabrielle Union was a vision at the Birth of A Nation Toronto International Film Festival in a Boss Fall 2016 Black and White Off the Shoulder Floral Dress:
Gabrielle’s exact frock wasn’t shown on the runway, but it looks like an iteration of the below with an on-trend neckline.
On Saturday, Christian Siriano presented his 2017 Spring/Summer line in a big way! The Project Runway designer and body positive advocate chose to include five plus-sized models among the typical sample size casted for NYFW runway shows.
The collection, inspired by the Island of Capri and reminiscent of the 1960’s Jackie-O era, featured bold and bright colors and chic silhouettes, deeming more than perfect for any glamorous vacation.
Seated front row was plus-size supermodel Ashley Graham. The voluptuous bombshell walked for Siriano in May of this year when he collaborated with Lane Bryant and created a signature collection. Also in attendance were (seated left to right): Coco Rocha, Christina Hendricks, Pamela Anderson, Neve Campbell, Jaimie Alexander and Ashley Graham attend the Christian Siriano fashion show during New York Fashion Week.
Siriano’s Lane Bryant collection, which sold out everywhere within weeks, also featured Orange Is the New Black’s Danielle Brooks as a model and spokesperson.
Now, let’s get into the curvy looks!
Plus model Precious Lee donned an amazing full length black duster and white dress with a flattering slit.
Alessandra Garcia Lorido, daughter of actor Andy Garcia, is a plus model signed to IMG New York. Garcia-Lorido “rocked the crop” that featured bellowed sleeves and wide legged pants. Her Frida Kahlo inspired eyebrows are fierce for this runway look!
Swedish plus model Sabina Karlsson is known for her signature freckles and fiery red hair. Karlsson also modeled for Brooklyn-based Chromat’s NYFW show earlier in the week. Karlsson’s dress featured under the arm cut-outs and high slits in turquoise colored hue. Her matching shoes feature an ankle tie detail that made the entire look “pop”!
Marquita Pring looked exotic and beautiful in a button-down turquoise slip dress and knee-length black & white gladiator sandals! Siriano’s choice of shoes reads glamorous resort fashion.
The lovely Georgia Pratt rounded out the five models with an all black fierce look that included fringe earrings, a fringed neckline, and a fitted dress with two midi-length slits and pointy-toe heels that tied around the ankles.
The models really seemed to strut the runway with confidence and wore the looks well.
Do you feel Siriano hurt his brand by featuring plus models? Comment and let us know your thoughts!
Facts: Alexander Wang is street. Well, perhaps his price points aren’t, but his attitude and aesthetic are as grounded and gritty as they come. The designer presented his Spring 2017 collection with style stars like Madonna, Kylie Jenner, and Zoe Kravitz getting a taste of the looks from the front row.
The opening ensembles blended boudoir with classic, American sportswear-inspired stripes. Crop tops boasted triple button plackets and patterned, side-tie sleeves, while the timeless shirt dress was turned on its head with a wrap silhouette, thigh-high slit, an asymmetric collar, and cutout sides.
Bare midriffs were aplenty, from strappy tops to cropped cargo jackets.
The bedroom was brought to the runway with silky, lace-trim accents that gave pajama dressing a new spin for the season. A rose print paired with the designs upped the romance quotient.
There was one bandeau top that was riffed on time and time again in the collection: a bandeau with elongated straps that tied around the models’ waists. Layered under a lace-trim vest, accented by high-waist denim, hidden under an oversized denim jacket, and juxtaposed against a super low-rise, barely-there mini skirt were just some of the ways Wang explored the piece’s versatility.
Prints ranged from transitional plaid to leopard patterns.
Celebs love wearing A. Wang on the red carpet and he made some formidable pleas with a chic halter jumpsuit, snakeskin-embossed lace and mesh mini LBD, a cutout little white dress with black trim, and a slit-detailed, thigh-baring number.
The shimmering and sparkling sequin scene was my favorite and the most glamorous, without a doubt. Kendall Jenner strutted down the catwalk in the black iteration of the aforementioned wrap bra top and a high-waist, iridescent wrap skirt that literally looked like something she would wear for one of her upcoming NYFW parties.
Happy Sunday!
So yesterday, I was happy to attend Colgate and Family Dollar’s Life in the Luxe Lane Event up in Harlem! Colgate and Family Dollar welcomed fashionistas uptown to hear beauty and style tips from makeup artist AJ Crimson and stylist Anastasia Walker.
Both experts told attendees tips on how to get ready in a hurry and within budget, using products from Family Dollar.
As a member of Colgate’s Designer Smile Squad, I popped by to welcome guests to the event.
Afterwards, we captured some street style. The ladies were bomb! Take a look:
This Colgate loving cutie offset her designer smile with bright red lips. Hot!
Natural Hair Blogger Ijeoma Ebohm mixed prints like a pro wearing an African patterned skirt and striped top. I loved this.
A patriotic hat and snazzy heels added verve to this all denim ensemble.
It’s piping hot outside! This floral printed romper was the perfect choice for the warm, muggy temps.
Courteny from the blog Curls and Couture slayed in a denim jumpsuit and a head full of gorgeous hair. Love it!
I laughed it up with multi-hyphenate boss and Hello Beautiful contributor Danielle James. She wore a dress from Zara and I wore a custom suit from 5001 flavors.
Mirrored glass paillettes shine from the organza-lined cutouts on this elaborately patterned Zimmermann mini dress. It features a tie back keyhole, long sleeves, and a hidden zipper.
Happy Sunday, folks!
Fashion week has been a whirlwind! I’ve been running around, capturing content for the site, so haven’t had much time to record my outfits over here like I used to (though over on The Bomb Life, it’s poppin!).
At any rate, on day 1, I popped by Michael Costello, 5:31 Jerome, and Harlem’s Fashion Row (and said hey to June Ambrose, Ty Hunter, Jerome Lamaar, and Sean Frazier). I’m wearing mostly black designers this Fashion Week, so slipped on a custom made skirt by Montréal créatrice, Kareen Singh.
The skirt was a statement piece, so I kept everything else simple, slipping on a Topshop Metallic Pyjama Top, Stuart Weitzman sandals, Dior shades, and a Chanel bag.
Stuart Weitzman Nudist sandals are pretty comfortable for a day full of shows…but by the end of the night, my dogs were barking!
Still on the lookout for the perfect comfortable heel. Or flats…stay tuned.
Until then, what do you think?

Designing duo Michelle Ochs and Carly Cushnie know how to make a woman look and feel sexy. Proven by their flirty runway looks, you can expect to see subtle displays of skin through high slits, cut outs and cold shoulders. Their Spring/Summer collection seems to be marketable to all women. Whether you’re CEO of a company or a socialite known for making alluring red carpet appearances, you’ll definitely find an ensemble in the Cushnie et Ochs Collection.
The brand’s tasteful love affair with cut-outs is in full swing. One of my favorite pieces was the peach jumpsuit that featured a unique oval, halter neck design with cut-out panels on each side. An interesting contrast is their LBD with the waist and thigh cut-out.

The monochrome jumpsuit sent down the runway set the tone for classic, color block garments. Flowy, simple and effortless. The black and white overlap into subtle geometric shapes which add light personality to an otherwise simple look.

Offering something for everyone, Cushnie et Ochs sent separates down the runway for the business professional. The white two-piece suit is reminiscent of powerful Bond girl on a high-profile mission. On the contrary, the designers offer separates that appeal to today’s woman.

Something for everyone. The Spring/Summer 2017 Collection speaks to every aspect of a woman’s personality. Whether you need a suit, cocktail dress or a night out on the town, you’re bound to find something to wear within this collection.
Beyonce, Solange Knowles, Camila Alves et al will most definitely be pleased after Zimmermann’s Spring 2017 Ready to Wear presentation during #NYFW. Stylistically appealing, the collection melded materials from lace, and tulle, all layered with detailed craftsmanship.

Pretty and polished, the sleek offering demonstrates an immaculate combination of romanticism with a touch of boho inspiration. Floral patterns rimmed with delicate lace seemed to billow effortlessly on the runway.

Stand out skirts and frocks featured leg baring hemlines, with some boasting strategic cut outs, button embellished fanciful frills and coordinated tassels. Gorgeous suede lace up knee high boots were added to the style mix for a cohesive yet subtly sexy look.

Not to be outdone by flouncy dresses, a masterful mix of trousers featuring front tie waist wraps, drawstring ties and side button detailed sides all made show stopping appearances on the catwalk.

For sure, Beyonce will be serving sass and style in a few of these stunners, and of course we’ll be here to report when she does.

Before Queen of Katwe’s big premiere at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival, Lupita Nyong’o posed for a portrait for the film in a Valentino Resort 2017 Nature Print Dress:
Lupita played on the dress’s colors by anchoring her look with yellow pumps.
