Invisible Beauty x BKc Merch Giveaway: Enter for a Chance to Win a $225 Limited Hoodie For The Must-See Bethann Hardison “Invisible Beauty” Documentary

Legends aren’t made, they’re born and Bethann Hardison is the ultimate fashion ‘Godmother,’ who has paved the way for women of color in the fashion industry over the last decades.

As one of the very first black models on 7th ave. to walk down the runways (which were exclusively reserved for caucasians only during the 70’s), Hardison would soon become the catalyst for change that the industry undeniably needed.

In her latest documentary, “Invisible Beauty,” the film captures Bethann in all her glory, including a glimpse inside her modeling days, her relationship with her son Kadeem Hardison, her modeling agency, and the importance of the Black Girls Coalition, which is an advocacy/support group for models of color that was founded by Hardison.

Originally from the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn, Hardison indubitable impact extends far back to when she was first discovered by African American designer, Willie Smith in the late 60’s.

From there, she would go on to to travel and model across the globe including France where she stole the show during the Battle of Versailles, by placing an obscure object on top of her head during designer Stephen Burrows debut.

While reminiscing and reflecting back on that moment in “Invisible Beauty,” Hardison states,

“When I hit that stage, I put something in my head that was defying the audience. And so as I go down the center, the more I walked, the harder and stronger, and more intense I became with the audience. I looked at them with such disdain and such strength. That moment I stood and never moved. I let them know, “We are here!”

That was a pivotal moment for Bethann Hardison as she discovered the power she had to change the trajectory of what it meant to be a black women in fashion, where diversity was scarce and opportunities were limited.

After she retired from modeling alongside the legendary Iman Abdulmajid, she created her own modeling agency in 1984, called the ‘Bethann Management Agency,’ where she represented models like Naomi Campbell, Tyson Beckford and Kimora Lee Simmons.

Her goal was to bring diversity to the runway and properly integrate model of colors despite institutionalized racism. Hardison statement was loud and clear that “Black is Beautiful,” and she went to bat to raise consciousness and ensure models of color never felt invisible.

Fashion Bomb CEO, Claire Sulmers had the opportunity to personally meet Hardison during Sergio Hudson Fashion Show in Los Angeles, and was even able to celebrate the ‘Invisible Beauty’ film with Hardison’s son Kadeem and friends.

Sulmers, like many others is inspired by all of Hardison’s efforts and endeavors to highlight and challenge the inequalities of the fashion industry. Hardison may have laid the foundation, but our job is to remain active in the fight and activism against discrimination in the fashion industry.

To celebrate the film, “Invisible Beauty,” Fashion Bomb daily has partnered with @Magnoliapics and @Invisiblebeauty to celebrate Bethann Hardison’s new film with an exclusive limited release hoodie by The BK Circus.

The double fleece lined hood and body that features a “B” on the front, and ‘Invisible Beauty’ on the back, has sewn eyelets and seams that are finished with a reverse cover stick for a premium look.

You have until Monday, Nov. 6th to enter for a chance to win this exclusive hoodie, and all you need to do is “Like the Post” below, “Tag a Friend” that should watch the documentary, and “Share to your story” and tag, @Magnoliapics, @InvisibleBeautyFilm, and @fashionbombdaily.

We can assure you that this is one documentary that you don’t want to miss especially if you are or aspire to be in the fashion industry. It’s trailblazers like Bethann Hardison who has given us a platform to shine bright in an industry where people often don’t think blacks belong.

Without Hardison, and her unyielding fight and radical heart, who’s to say where we would be in terms of designers taking new initiatives to integrate and become more inclusive. She is a true “hero”, and it’s essential that we honor her and keep her legacy going.

Get the Look: Lori Harvey Stepped Out in Los Angeles in a $275 YSL Cap with $1,000 The Attico Cargo Pants and a $2,350 Bottega Veneta Pouch

As of late, Lori Harvey has been remaining low-key since her return from Paris Fashion Week, where she slayed the scene in a series of looks by Ferragamo and Chanel.

If you’re wondering why, Harvey, 26, let fans know in the comment section of her Halloween Instagram post that she is simply tired.

That’s right! Lori posted an image dressed as Lara Croft for Halloween, and one person commented, “How we went from Beyoncé last year to this?😩” To which Harvey replied, “girl I was tired this year 😭🤣.”

Despite being tired, we love that she still put effort into getting dressed up for Halloween, and that she’s been stepping out in some of the most casually chic ensembles in Los Angeles.

While out in West Hollywood on Oct. 26, Harvey looked sporty in a sleeveless white Cotton Citizen Tokyo muscle tank that she paired with green ‘The Attico’ fern cargo trousers that fit her to a tee.

Her muted white $275 @ysl x @neweracap cassandre canvas cap brilliantly shaped her face, and her gold $162 chunky @heavenmayhem_ tri earrings added a vintage feel.

Lately, we know it’s been all about Bottega Veneta these days with celebs, and Harvey is no exception. She opted for the Italian luxury brand when it came down to her woven mini pouch and beige stretch mesh & leather pumps that perhaps completed her outfit.

We love how Harvey know’s how to switch it up from time to time, and this look definitely exuded strength , and embodied craftsmanship that was spot on.

Saweetie Holds The Best Halloween Manicure Title After Her Miss Edward Scissorhands Viral Moment

Rapper Saweetie’s ‘queen of nail art manicures’ title still stands, especially after her latest “Miss Edward Scissorhands” Halloween costume.

It’s no surprise that the “Icy Girl” Saweetie chose “Edward Scissorhands,” as her costume choice based on her admiration for long and extravagant nail art, which felt on brand. As we know her for having exceptionally long claws, this look for Halloween was nothing new to her.

In a recent Instagram Halloween video, she captioned, “Are these long enough for u?” while posing in a leather two-piece set, paired with black platform boots to add a touch of edginess to her costume. Still the main topic of discussion, her Scissorhands inspired manicure that were embellished with rhinestones, made her Halloween costume a total success.

Created by manicurist, Temeka Jackson, Saweetie’s extra long nails were curated to look like knives and scissors. For her makeup glam, artist Kenya Alexis painted the rapper in the palest shade of white, mimicking Edward’s skin from the film. In addition to the exact black makeup, Alexis completed her make-up with sculpted cheeks and dark shadows for dramatized contour.

Fashion News: North West is the Latest Cover Girl for i-D Fall/Winter 2023 The New Wave Issue

North West is in her own lane, and rightfully so. As the oldest daughter of two style icons, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, North has consequently morphed into a mega superstar, gracing the cover of I-D’s latest magazine cover entitled, The New Wave Issue.

That’s no small feat for the 10-year old, who is a dreamer, and is constantly looking for ways to re-innovate herself at such a young age.

Letting her hair down, literally and figuratively, West shares some of her goals and aspirations with i-D magazine editor-in-chief Alastair McKimm for her first solo magazine cover.

From naming “Through the Wire” by Kanye West as one of her favorite songs, and sharing how her father is responsible for influencing her love for singing and performing, to naming her little sister Chicago’s fashion show in her closet as one of the best show’s she’s ever been too, it’s evident to see that North is extremely family-oriented.

Dressed in a black hoodie, layered over a black crew neck with grey oversized jeans that had drawings and painting splattered everywhere, North looked in her element while posing in a series of portrait images.

Not to mention her interchangeable headwear that included a black cap, and skeleton crown that couldn’t have been more fitting for the debut of her cover on Halloween day.

When asked what does she want to be when she grows up, the Tik-Tok sensation stated,

“A basketball player, a rapper, um… Well, when I was seven, I wanted to be a boxer. But now I don’t want to be a boxer. I’m going to do art on the side. When I’m, like, thirteen, I want to walk dogs, to make money to buy art supplies, because everything around here is so expensive. So a rapper, a basketball player, and I’m going to make artwork that I sell. Also, one day I want to own Yeezy and SKIMS, and I want to be a business owner.”

North West is growing up before our very own eyes, and she has definitely adopted the tenacity and ambition from her legendary parents.

The fact that she said she would like to one day own Yeezy and SKIMS demonstrates her entrepreneurial spirit which were sure she also gets from business savvy grandmother, Kris Jenner.

One thing for sure, is that North West will soon be leading the new wave of upcoming artists, performers, and influencers and we just may want to brace ourselves for the unimaginable.
