Happy Election Day, folks!
I just got back from Vegas for the Soul Train Awards (recap here), and I’m headed to Lagos, Nigeria tomorrow for GT Bank Fashion Weekend!
I’ll be teaching a blogging masterclass and also moonlighting on panels with the likes of Sam Fine, Tracy Reese, and many more!
We’re not flying Arik Air this time, but instead are hopping on a Virgin America flight that flies through London. Tomorrow our Creative Director and I will be settling in for a 14 hour journey. Pray for me, y’all.
At any rate, I’m excited about eating peppered snails, Egusi soup, and Suya…and of course seeing designers old and new.
Pierre won’t be making the trip this time, so if y’all know of a fabulous photographer we can use, holla in the comments!
Smootches!
Fact: Justine Skye always has one of the best hairstyles at any event. Her signature purple color is always on point and we love the daring ‘dos she chooses! Case in point: the beauty at the 13th Annual CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards. She offset her Fall-perfect Georgine Studio stole and super cool Gypsy Sport planet-embroidered dress with “Old Hollywood”-inspired Curls—styled by Derick Monroe.
Get the steps to recreate Justine’s hair for the evening below:
1. On freshly washed and conditioned hair, dry your hair with a blow dryer and a paddle brush to create body to the hair.
2. Next, section your hair in small parts and use a medium one-inch curling iron to create small curls at the ends of your hair—leaving the roots straight.
4. After all of the hair is curled, brush out the curls with a $105 Mason Peason Brush to add volume and waves and pin some hair in place behind your ears.
She writes, “My style is influenced greatly by my art background and my ability to be inspired by many different things- including architecture, silhouettes, colors and more.”
“I’m a tomboy at heart so I love to bring an element of that into each of my looks.

No doubt: Aimee Song is one of the few OG fashion bloggers. Don’t believe me? Well, just take a thirty-minute mini voyage through her endless sea of outfits posts circa 2008 and then venture over to her expertly-curated Instagram profile. The chick is the truth! While the California sweetheart caters to over 4 million followers, it’s evident thatSong of Style has surpassed the limits society has placed upon the fashion blogosphere.
Oh, and one more thing – this only validates the fact that Aimee is the epitome of the ultimate Bomb Blogger!
I clearly remember the random instance I discovered Song of Style. I was an impressionable sophomore in college, just searching for an ounce of sartorial inspiration. And, although I adhered to a strict financial budget, I always managed to find the most innovative pairings via Aimee. This stunning interior-design-by-day continuously left me craving more and her effortless West Coast swag was undeniably contagious. Thanks to her, I was garnered up enough courage to pair my skinny jeans with sky-high stilettos! I know, I know – crazy, right? But, that just goes to show the profound impact Ms. Song possessed, even in her earlier days of blogging. Her quirky appeal spanned way beyond her personal style hub and she’s evolved into one of street style’s favorite influencers.
Now, fast forward eight years later and you cannot escape the reign of Aimee Song! She’s literally everywhere. From jet-setting to the world’s most exotic getaways to sitting front row at Paris Fashion Week’s highly-anticipated presentations, this self-made entrepreneur has transformed her keen eye into a lucrative (and promising) career. Of course, Aimee’s grasp on style has transitioned since her humble beginnings, but it’s been an absolute pleasure witnessing her fashion metamorphosis.
Whether she’s uplifting a printed Michael Kors bell-sleeved blouse or a military-inspired Alexandre Vauthier khaki jumpsuit, this fashion enthusiast is skilled in rocking high-end brands in surprisingly relatable ensembles. In addition, Aimee is also a firm believer in all things denim, eye-catching textures/prints and eccentric outerwear. But, it’s her purse collection that is all types of #goals!
Slay on, hun!

In the third awards show of the week, the 13th Annual CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards went down at Spring Studios in New York City. Our favorite stylish actresses and artists were dressed by the world’s coolest brands, with Brock Collection and Krewe du Optic taking home the night’s first and second prize.
Let’s get into the night’s ensembles, shall we?
Zendaya supported fave Michael Kors in a navy silk crepe dress with white floral sequined embroidery and white Holland platforms, from his Spring 2017 collection. She’s always flawless!
After a rousing SNL performance this weekend, Solange Knowles shimmered in a silver Off-White suit. Gorgeous, no?
Kelly Rowland was a Baja East babe in a white and gold fringe poncho-inspired tunic and matching trousers from the brand. This was fab.
Justine Skye draped a Georgine Studio fur stole over her planet-embroidered Gypsy Sport dress. Cute!
Aurora James and Diana Gordon juxtaposed feminine dresses with statement-making suede boots.
Altuzarra girl Lily Kwong anchored her berry-hued look from the brand with floral print strappy pumps. I liked this!
Jenna Lyons and comedian Sarah Jones gave a flash of midriff for the night. Really feeling Jenna’s look, but what else is new?
Hailey Baldwin skewed sultry in a ribbed red Baja East dress with a thigh-high slit and turquoise fringe trim. Great dress!
Olivia Munn had us wishing for Spring in a floral Tanya Taylor number with a sexy slit.
A tangerine mesh top, matching tie-waist skirt with contrast trim, and statement-making sandals were on the menu for Laura Herrier.
Cindy Bruna flaunted her mile-long stems in an ivory embroidered Jonathan Simkhai gown, fully equipped with cutout detailing, a low-cut neckline, and double slits.
Today is Election Day here in the USA!! Polls are open for you to vote for the next President of the United States.
This election is super important, so make it a priority! But before you head out and make your voice heard, here are a few things you should know:
1. Am I registered to vote?
If you have questions about your registration status, visit Vote.org. Enter your name, birthday, email, and address, and in less than 30 seconds, you’ll receive the confirmation you need.
2. Where Can I Vote?
Facebook has been really great about helping voters find polling stations near them. If you have questions, simply go to Google and type in “Where Can I Vote?”. The search engine will prompt you for your street address and you go from there.
3. Can I Show support for Hillary?
Though we stan for Hillary, you risk arrest or removal if you show your affiliation to any party or candidate with paraphernalia or t-shirts (laws vary by state). Your best bet is to leave your #ImWithHer t-shirts at home until after you vote.
4. When is voting over?
Polls close tonight at 9pm in New York, but times vary state by state. Visit your local polling authority to see hours to make sure your vote is in on time.
That said, I just got off a plane from Las Vegas, so am going to get some rest, but best believe I will be voting today, and I encourage you to do the same.
