GQ Men of The Year Fashion Bomb Looks: Kim Kardashian in Camel Chrome Hearts, Dwayne Wade in a Blush Givenchy, Megan Thee Stallion in Chocolate Salih Balta + More

We love a red carpet moment and GQ’s Men of the Year bash was filled with some of the hottest celebrities strutting down the pavement in Los Angeles in honor of the magazines 28th MOTY issue.

Coined the Male Met Gala, we saw some of the most handsome, stylish and dapper men on the scene in swankiest head-turning looks that were artfully curated.

As we all know, retired NBA Star Dwayne Wade, 41, never misses and the Chi town native kept things light and airy in a blush pink textured vest that he paired with white straight denim jeans and black loafers. His blonde roots added contrast to his black beard and we couldn’t keep our eyes of his muscular built.

Keeping things suited and booted was multi-platinum artist Travis Scott who wore a black satin Maison Margiela double breasted suit that he paired with a white crew neck shirt, along with a statement silver necklace.

Also opting for black was R&B singer Giveon who let us know in many ways that it was “Prada or Nada,” while rocking a Prada leather bomber jacket that he styled with black trousers and black patent leather oxfords.

The men of the hour weren’t the only ones to make quite an entrance on the carpet as Kim Kardashian looked effortlessly chic in a suede camel Chrome Hearts halter top with the matching skirt.

Her long blonde hair parted down the middle felt cohesive and tonal, and if you haven’t noticed “Chrome Hearts” has been her go to designer as of late( hence her latest CFDA black Chrome Hearts ensemble).

Also making a splash in hints of brown was rapper Megan Thee Stallion who looked absolutely phenomenal in a sheer chocolate brown Salih Balta SS24 RTW dress, styled by Zerina Akers.

The Houston native has clearly been working on her “body yadi yadi” as she’s noticeably lost a lot of weight and it looking toned from top to bottom. We love to see her in this light and her updo was so complimentary to her sultry BEAT.

Stepping outside of the box from traditional colors like black and brown, was artist Lorde who brought vibrancy to the red carpet in a satin green Acne two piece set that showed off her mid-section.

Her asymmetrical skirt had modern frills, and perhaps her green tights and open toe-heels served “green with envy” which we were so here for.

Overall we saw celebrities bring their A-game at GQ’s Men of the Year 2023 bash and it was great to see the big dreamers, and boundary breakers in the spotlight .

TNS: STORIES Exhibition Celebrated Diversity Through Fashion, Photography, and Film + More

With the right team behind you, miraculous things can happen in such an extraordinary way, and that’s exactly what transpired through the book of ‘The New Stereotype (TNS): STORIES,’ that launched on Sunday, Nov. 12th in New York City.

The creative masterminds behind the book, Marquelle Turner, Wendy Oduor, and Olushola Bashorun partnered together over the pandemic to artfully curate and highlight more than 50 black men and women across 26 fashion editorials that were shot in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles.

A project 3-years in the making finally came to fruition, embracing the multidimensional layers of what it means to proudly be black through fashion, photography and film.

Their bold initiatives are the result of a high-end coffee table book that offers a visual treat to readers through beautiful and intentional illustrations.

“Each installment of the book, labeled a CHAPTER, as an ode to the synopsis of each person’s story, serves as an interconnected thread to demonstrate Black men and women’s ability to be both a powerful ballad individually and an unspoken symphony while in unison,” said Hunter.

To commence their book debut, the founders presented a panel discussion hosted by Danielle Young with some of their subjects like Celebrity Stylist, Harrison Crite and Author, Rob Hill who images were featured during the unveiling of the gallery exhibition.

As a well-diverse crowd of creatives made their way into the art exhibition that was initially prized behind a white curtain, everyone was immediately enamored by all the delightful imagery that stood out boldly against the concrete brick wall.

Attendees rushed in line to purchase their TNS: STORIES copy before they sold out from the Project Director, Marquelle Turner who embodied a king aura in a custom light brown two-piece set, with a black Kufi hat and black Balenciaga flats.

The Director of Photography, Olushola Bashorun arrived to the event with his wife in a Prada look including a black pinstripe suit, and tank top with white chunky sneakers, while his better half opted for a silk maxi dress with gold sequin heels.

Fashion Bomb CEO, Claire Sulmers showed up to support her accomplished photographer friend Olushola and was amazed by his creativity, technical skills and attention to detail that he was captured through each image displayed.

Creative Director of TNS:STORIES, Wendy Oduor painted the town red in the chicest STAUD maxi dress that looked so elegant and regal against her rich melanated complexion.

Her statement multicolored beaded earrings glistened next to her bold red lip, and to top off her red monochromatic ensemble, she paired her outfit with a red stiletto. Talk about giving off queen vibes.

Oduor was able to interview Sulmers who wore a leather or leather look including a Fashion Bomb Daily shop Prince purple rain graphic tee that she paired with flare leather pants, and a black trench coat.

In addition to many others, Claire was happy to attend such a marvelous event that honored Oduor’s, Bashorun’s and Turner’s artistic brilliance.

Fashion’s brightest stars stepped out to attend the CFDA Awards held at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City, and let’s just say, our favorite celebs brought the drama last night on the red carpet.

Coined the “Oscars of Fashion,” we saw fashion’s biggest heavy hittas push the envelope one step forward with their avant-garde ensembles that we’re vastly different, progressive and a sight to behold.

From the Fashion Icon Award recipient, Serena Williams showcasing structure with balloon shaped sleeves, to the host of the evening Anne Hathaway showing off a new interpretation of denim, and celebrity stylist Law Roach abstract suit bottoms, many celebs looked innovative while other’s clearly emulated.

Here are some of the best and worst red carpet looks from the CFDA Awards last night.

Serena Williams in Thom Browne

After just delivering birth to her second baby girl Adira, on August 22, Serena looked glammed to the nines in a black sequin Thom Browne dress that had voluminous off the shoulder embellished sleeves and a exaggerated train. For her accessories, Williams opted for a bold diamond necklace and pearl studded earrings.

Kim Kardashian in Chrome Hearts

If anyone has tapped into quiet luxury, it’s definitely Kim Kardashian who kept things simple in a leather halter Chrome Hearts dress that had multi cross patches placed throughout. Keeping her jewelry to a minimum, Kardashian wore layered rings to compliment her black stiletto nails. Kim’s look this year was understated compared to the latex ensemble she served last year.

Lala Anthony in Saint Sintra

Lala Anthony glistened in a bronze chocolate brown Saint Sintra satin corset body suit that she layered with a long matching satin robe and paired with dark black hosiery. She pulled her hair into a tight bun that felt appropriate with the bold gold choker necklace that completed her look.

Mary J Blige in Christian Siriano

With the holiday season on the horizon, Mary J. Blige showed us that she’s two-steps ahead of the game in a black and silver Christian Siriano sheer and sequin gown that could easily be worn to a Christmas or New Years gala.

Coco Rocha in Christian Siriano

Blige wasn’t the only one to wear Christian Siriano, as the designer himself posed next to his muse, model Coco Rocha who looked captivating in a structured and textured black top, with a pink maxi high slit skirt, and champagne satin platforms. Her black circular shaped hat was merrily the icing on the cake.

Alton Mason in Dolce & Gabbana and Chrome Hearts

Alton Mason, let us know that he’s been hitting the gym as he showed of his killer abs in a black Dolce & Gabbana fur trimmed coat, with camouflage cargo pants and a Chrome Hearts belt that had layered chains.

Law Roach in Luar

If anyone’s going to serve a sketch, it’s undoubtedly Celebrity stylist Law Roach who opted for a khaki colored Luar suit with a white shirt and oversized blush tie. Most notably was his cutout bottoms that revealed his Calvin Klein undies and black fishnet stockings. This was certainly one of the most fashion-forward looks of the evening.

Saweetie in Cult Gaia

We loved how rapper Saweetie took a risk and played with shapes at the CFDA awards in a straw fabric Cult Gaia dress that had innovative 3D shapes and cutouts at her her hips. Her gold metallic platform sandals made her ensemble feel very futuristic.

Anne Hathaway in Ralph Lauren

Looking like the quintessential poster girl for Ralph Lauren, Anne Hathaway wore a denim corset top with a light denim floral maxi skirt that had a long train and felt on brand for the American designer.

June Ambrose in Bibhu Mohapatra

We know Creative Director, June Ambrose loves a good Bibhu Mohapatra gown and the icon herself look spectacular in a black off the shoulder tulle pleated dress that she wore with a $7,995 Judith Leiber TV clutch and a statement @khiatullae bunny ear hat.

Ayesha Curry in Diotima

Ayesha Curry served net galore in a red and black Diotima knit stress that had cutouts everywhere and was unparalleled to anything else we saw on the red carpet. We loved her fearlessness and provocative elegance.

Winnie Harlow in Marc Jacobs

Model Winnie Harlow can do no wrong, and the gorgeous model who was a Halloween showstopper this year, cleaned up nicely to attend the CFDA Awards in a black polka-dot March Jacobs dress that looked prestigious and monumental. Her patent leather Marc Jacobs platforms were the perfect calculated risk and her jewels gleamed against her beautiful vitiligo skin.

Vanessa Hudgens in Vera Wang

Although Vanessa Hudgen’s glam looked immaculate, her dress and gloves felt traditional and we wish she would have stepped outside of the box a bit more. Nonetheless, her long black gloves were right on trend and she could have easily taken it up a notch by adding layered rings for a high fashion appeal.
