Faux Locs have officially taken over!
More and more celebrities are letting their hair down and indulging in locs, whether using it as a protective style for the season or a temporary do!
Take a look:

Who could forget Zendaya’s red carpet look for the 2015 Oscars?  The actress/designer’s faux locs ignited a much needed conversation about the negative perception people of color receive for wearing the style.

Lady Gaga sported white locs that fell below her knees.  Her hair definitely matched her eccentric style!

Laura Govan got in vacation mode by installing faux locs in as a protective style.  Such a good look for her!

Eva Marcille found her go-to hairdo for Summer ’16.  The model/actress completely owned and slayed this look!

Singer Jhene Aiko joined in on the fun with her blonde locs.  The style fit her modern-day hippie vibes.

Could she look any more gorgeous?  Meagan Good also spent summer ’16 in the fun, protective style.

If Willow Smith ever decides to commit to a new hairstyle, this it it.  The free spirit looks like she grew her hair naturally.

Model Tyra Banks showed a different side of herself when she debuted her new do.  Chic!

Style maven Rihanna, sent the fashion world in a frenzy when she showed off her new hair.  Although this wasn’t her first time rockin’ the trend, she really made a statement this time around.

Teyana Taylor is a hair chameleon.  She added some flavor to the popular style by wearing grey locs.

Ciara maintained a laid-back, relaxed vibe for the brief time that she wore the trend.

Actress Tasha Smith’s hair is the prototype!  Her length, size and color is perfection.

Yaya DaCosta showed the versatility in faux locs by rocking an elegant updo.  Classic look for the red carpet.

Last but not least, Dawn Richards showed off her long, thick, beautiful hair.  Pretty!

 

We can see why celebrities are obsessing over this look.  It’s fun, versatile and stylish.  With the winter rapidly approaching, faux locs are chic alternative to box braids, the typical protective style.  What do you think?  Will you be joining in on the faux locs fun?

Did you know that black females are the fastest growing group of entrepreneurs?
But entrepreneurship is not easy–we need guidance in order to truly embrace our full potential. Thus, several panels and seminars are popping up around the country so that women of color can network, seek advice, and grow!

I had the sincere pleasure of speaking on one such panel in Philadelphia, alongside stylist and jewelry designer Crystal Streets, Marilyn Van Alstyne of EMVE Management Group, Yolanda Keels-Walker of the Business Babes, and Danielle Dawkins of McDonalds Philadelphia. Mina Say What of Power 99 was our illustrious moderator.


Each panelist offered insight on their background before launching into advice. We all agreed that taking care of finances is key. It’s important to set goals (and write them down!). Don’t be afraid to receive and ask for help. Having a great team is necessary (but finding the right team can take some trial and error!). And life is too short not to go for your dreams.

For the event, I wore a printed dress from Nobody Jones Boutique:

Crystal Streets rocked a flirty Zara dress, Topshop knee high socks, and Gianvito Rossi pumps.

Yolanda Keels-Walker of the Business Babes uplifted a chic jumpsuit with a foxy fur stole and Sophia Webster ‘Boss Lady” pumps. I love it!
It was a fun time, and I will definitely be doing more panels on Women in Entrepreneurship (and I plan on coming back to Philly!)
