When compiling a list of true trendsetters and fashionistas, no list would be complete and thoroughly vetted without the inclusion of one Gwen Stefani. From her No Doubt days to a hugely successful solo career and now being a co-judge on NBC’s hit talent show, The Voice, the adoration her fans (myself included) have for both her music and fashion sense is unwavering. And the proof is in the pudding. 

It seems Stefani has tried it all when it comes to fashion: almost akin to making selections from a sartorial buffet. During the early No Doubt days, her look was bright, bold and attention grabbing. Who was the front woman with the turquoise (sometimes pink) hair, braces and rhinestone bedecked eyebrows? The 90’s was a time to experiment with looks, both garish and tame, and Stefani definitely took advantage of the times.  Transitioning from bandmate to solo artist in the early 2000’s ushered in a wave of new looks for the “Hollaback Girl” singer. Trading in her colored locks and prominent lip liner for her signature platinum blonde mane and ubiquitous red pout was just the beginning of her fashionable transformation. From rocking midriff baring streetwear inspired pieces from her L.A.M.B. line to becoming a muse for blue chip designers like John Galliano, Stella McCartney, and Zuhair Murad and slaying red carpets, Stefani’s wardrobe is vast and boasts some seriously killer threads. 

 
Even when she dresses down, Stefani’s casual style is actually timeless.  Jeans, oversized sunglasses a loose fitting top or a cool sweatshirt accompanied by sky high Louboutin heels or Giuseppe Zanotti sneakers, depending on her mood, make for some pretty cool, effortless outfits for daytime.

Beyoncé stormed the 50th CMA Awards last night! In true King Bey fashion, she didn’t take to the red carpet. But she did give us a peek at her gorgeous Zuhair Murad Couture Spring 2016 Floral Embroidered Gown on her website:

Mrs. Knowles-Carter eschewed the silver head piece worn by the model on the runway.

The beauty also took to the stage with the Dixie Chicks to perform “Daddy Lessons”: completely confirming our earlier predictions! She slayed in a J’Aton Couture stunner onstage.

Last night, Kylie Jenner attended her sister’s birthday celebration in the same black Unravel Lace-Up Pants as her sister Kim wore during Paris Fashion Week.  Miranda Kerr join in on the fun, wearing her rendition also during Paris Fashion Week:

Kylie went bold in a black netted top, a diamond choker and matching jeweled sandals.

Miranda rocked a black studded jacket over her lace-up pants.

Kim Kardashian went all out in a black Givenchy fur, black strappy heels and long, luscious hair.

Apparently these pants are a hot topic!

Originally I preferred Miranda’s look but now I am leaning towards Kim K.

Mollie King was white hot at the Pride of Britain Awards in a $934 Jessica Choay White Daring Gown:

Her gown features a sheer bodice, solid contrast skirt, two thigh-high slits, long sleeves, and a pussybow at the neckline.

Not quite as daring as the name suggests, but pretty nonetheless. Quite conservative in comparison with Mollie’s normal looks!

When Beyoncé released “Daddy Lessons” on Lemonade, we thought the Houston-born superstar was poised to take over the country music industry as she’s done every other category. Well, it seems we were right, as Mrs. Knowles Carter is set to perform at tonight’s 50th CMA Awards:

What King Bey will be performing hasn’t been confirmed yet, but it’s a big night for the awards show, so all the stops will certainly be pulled out. Perhaps she’ll take to the stage with the iconic trio, the Dixie Chicks, who sang their own rendition of “Daddy Lessons” while on tour?

That would be epic! We’ll definitely have our eyes and ears peeled any way. Tune in to ABC at 8pm EST for the big event.

If you didn’t know, especially given the rise in all things self and body positive, we celebrate beauty in all its forms.  So, who better a person to highlight than someone who is comfortable and confident in her skin, has a deep adoration for Queen Bey like the rest of us do, and, above all, remains gracious and kind in the faces of naysayers than award winning, Emmy nominated actress and television producer, Laverne Cox?

Getting her start as a contestant on VH1’s I Want to Work for Diddy, among other minor roles, Cox took Tinsletown by storm portraying her most memorable character, Sophia Burset, on Netflix’s Orange Is The New Black.  Since then, she’s landed a role in the revamp of The Rocky Horror Picture Show and a recurring role in CBS’s upcoming drama, Doubt.  With the astronomical rise to success, she doesn’t shy away from doting flashbulbs during red carpet appearances.

Her honey blonde tresses frame her face perfectly, whether cascading past her shoulders in loose, old Hollywood curls or worn edgy, short and curly.  She’s definitely not afraid to experiment with her look, even trying bangs for good measure.

 With a personality as bold and vivacious as hers, Cox seems partial to sporting either a rich red or a bold berry hue for added drama.  And sometimes, for soft and subtle looks, she opts for nudes and light pinks to offset her stunning red carpet gowns and accessories.

 But as we all know, real beauty doesn’t solely rest on what is seen by the naked eye.  Laverne Cox has not only catapulted herself into stardom from her work in television, but she’s also been honored for pioneering initiatives for and working with members of the LGBT community in order for all their voices to be heard.  Since landing the cover of Time in June 2014, where she shared very poignant and revealing anecdotes from her childhood and transition during the interview, she has served as a beacon of hope and courage for many transwomen of color who find her story relatable and humbling, despite her continued success.  For this, and many other reasons, we salute you, Laverne Cox, as this week’s Beauty Crush Wednesday! For more fabulous pics of Laverne Cox, scroll through the gallery above.
