Beauty Crush Wednesday: Tinashe

bcw-tinashe-30

With the sudden influx of musical artists and social media starlets in the past few years, having the ability to stand out among those in the crowd all boils down to talent, personality, and having the right look.  Luckily for this week’s beauty crush, Tinashe, having all three seem to be working in her favor.  Since she burst on the scene with her megahit song, “2 On”, the Kentucky native has been an unstoppable force, recently dropping a successful album, “Nightride”, collaborating with her idol, Britney Spears, and hosting E!’s red carpet at this year’s American Music Awards.  And doing all this while showcasing gorgeous makeup and hair put us on notice.

bcw-tinashe-7

Not one to go overboard with makeup, Tinashe seems to prefer colors close to her skin tone like soft browns and light pinks, especially on the eyes, lips and cheeks.  Every now and then, though, she vamps things up with a red pout or a sultry smokey eye to liven up her look.

You tend to see a lot of female artists sport the same hairstyle at just about every red carpet, award show, or performance.  But Tinashe goes against the grain.  Whether she’s giving voluminous, cascading curls, a braided side-ponytail, or looking regal in an African printed headwrap, she takes risks and they usually pay off.  And let’s face it.  Rocking the same look repeatedly can become a little stale.  So, here’s to this week’s beauty crush, Tinashe, for being a fearless risk-taker in both her music and her style.  For more, spy our gallery above for our favorite beauty looks of Tinashe.

Yesterday, I shot the cover with Derek Blanks. Latasha Wright worked magic on my makeup and Daniel Hawkins styled me in pieces by Marq by Marquette, Theory and more.

Bomb Blogger: Blair Eadie of Atlantic-Pacific

Preppy. Inventive. Charming.

If asked to describe today’s Bomb Blogger personal style M.O., these are the signature traits that come to mind. This San Francisco native has captivated all our lives with a creative approach to fashion that continually sets the standard of a true fashionista. And, she’s given an entirely different meaning to the term classic.

So, without further ado, let’s dive into the tailored prowess of the ever-elegant Blair Eadie of Atlantic-Pacific!

While Atlantic-Pacific focuses solely on Blair’s ability to piece together iconic ensembles, the blog is also a fashionable hub where you can find a highly-curated collection of the style maven’s partnerships and collaborations. Although she’s worked hand-in-hand with dynamic brands such as Tory Burch, Nordstrom, Barbour and Bvlgari, Blair always discovers a way build her eclectic and fanciful looks from a relatable standpoint.

I’ve followed along on her stylish journey (since about 2009) and it’s been beyond awesome watching her transform into the monumental influencer that you see today. Her Instagram following rings in at 931K strong, her Pinterest game is always on point and Facebook is just another outlet that she continues to dominate with her polished pizzazz.

I first fell in love with Blair’s style after I realized that she knew the ins and outs of styling a basic striped tee. No joke! Throughout college, this wardrobe staple was one of my favorite pieces to style. I paired my Forever 21 versions with distressed denim, clashing prints and even leather leggings; however, none of that would have been possible without a little help from the queen herself.

Blair’s highly intuitive when it comes to pairing basics with more exuberant finds and she’s the queen of flawless photography. Her social media is chock full of juicy goodies that offer little nuggets of inspiration in every single post. And, like all fashion killas, Blair knows what she likes! Although she skews more towards the conservative side, there’s never a dull moment with this Bomb Blogger! Whimsical hues, striking silhouettes and unexpected layers all add to the sartorial arsenal that produces pure and everlasting slayage. Of course, Blair’s closet must-haves include perfectly designer midi skirts, graphic print coats, oversized cat eye sunnies and (of course) a structured white button- up. Super chic, no?

Beauty Bomb: Taraji P. Henson’s 2016 American Music Awards Three Foot-Long Sleek Ponytail, Styled by Tym Wallace

Taraji P. Henson kept it classic and sexy at last night’s 2016 American Music Awards, slipping on a Céline shirt dress and black lacy bra. She kept her hair timeless as well—choosing a sleek, waist-long ponytail for the night. “When thinking about Taraji’s AMAs look, we wanted to do a style she has never done on the carpet,” revealed hairstylist Tym Wallace. “Three feet of hair was the perfect choice!” Rapunzel vibes for real.

Here’s a step-by-step guide of how to recreate Taraji’s hair:

tarajiphenson2016americanmusicawards-hair-tym-wallace-2

1. Stock up on some extensions that match your natural texture: Tym chose True Indian’s True Signature in Indian Wavy for Taraji. The longer, the better—obviously! 36 inches was on the agenda for Ms. Cookie Lyon herself. Then cleanse both your hair and your faux tresses.

2. Let your extensions air dry to bring out their natural texture: without frizz or flyaways.

tarajiphenson2016americanmusicawards-hair-tym-wallace-5

3. Blow dry your hair, then silken using a 3/4 inch flat iron.

4. Create a strong center part and slick your hair into a low ponytail.

tarajiphenson2016americanmusicawards-hair-tym-wallace-1

5. Wrap the extensions around your natural hair and secure with bobby pins.

6. Add your favorite frizz serum to make sure your waves are in place and flawless all night long.

Beauty Bomb: Ciara’s 2016 American Music Awards Effortless Ponytail, Styled by César DeLeön Ramirêz

Mommy-to-be Ciara was positively glowing last night, in a Stephane Rolland Couture dress that had all eyes on her and her growing baby bump. For the occasion, stylist and MIZANI Global Artist Director César DeLeön Ramirêz wanted to create a style that complemented her statement-making frock. “I generally like to keep things simple so that they don’t compete, but instead complement the overall look,” stated the hair guru. “My vision was a long messy ponytail with a 70s inspired fringe.”

Here’s how to get the Grammy Award-winning singer’s ponytail for the night:

ciara-ama-2016-portrait

1. To start, use a smoothing system like MIZANI Thermasmooth to blow out your hair with a great blow dryer. César’s go-to brand is GHD.

2. Then, center part your bangs and section out hair around your face to frame it. For the ponytail, section your hair into two parts: front and back.

ciara2016americanmusicawardsarrivals-cesar-ramirez-hair-3

3. Using a GHD paddle brush, brush back and secure the back section of your hair into a ponytail.

4. Next, you can attach some extensions—just make sure to hide and blend the faux hair by incorporating the remainder of your tresses into the ponytail.

ciara2016americanmusicawardsarrivals-cesar-ramirez-hair-2

5. To really get a straight and incredibly shiny finish, use your flat iron on the ponytail and on your bangs. And if it’s a rainy or humid day, keep your hair in place with a mist like MIZANI’s HRM Resistant Mist.
