Show Review: Moschino Fall 2017

Would you wear cardboard couture? Well, Jeremy Scott is hoping you want to. His kitschy—no surprise there—and statement-making—even less of a shock—Fall 2017 collection for Moschino was a mix of the aforementioned, a tribute to a time when print thrived, and a whole new, head-turning take on red carpet.

And though inspired by the boxes we all throw away, the opening looks were downright pretty. The opening skirt suit on Kendall Jenner was ladies who lunch but keep it fresh and a “Fragile” trench and knee-high boots on Gigi Hadid was easily one of the most functional ensembles in the assortment.

Some looks barely screamed Moschino at all—a rare occurrence in these days of Logomania. A croc, python, and ostrich embossed leather coat was the epitome of luxury, but was not to be upstaged by the absolute practicality of a double-breasted piece with contrast seam trim.

But naturally, the logos did not stop. They’re one of the brand’s cornerstones after all. They were strewn across baseball caps, gold dangling, chain link belts, jaw-dropping LWDs, and even leather boots.

Accessories were flashy and sometimes unbelievable—larger-than-life shades which felt like a chic take on those 3-D movie sunglasses, thigh-high printed boots that were an ode to the ripped out magazine spreads of yesteryear, can-inspired necklaces, and opera gloves that you wouldn’t actually wear to the theater.

Alesha Dixon, Gwen Stefani, Keke Palmer, and Taraji P. Henson are all fans of the iconic Italian fashion house and I”m sure they saw more than a few things they’d like to sport on the red carpet, at high-fashion events, or onstage. A little red dress with gold fringe accents on Anna Cleveland would literally match the red carpet, while a dry cleaning-influenced gown and hanger headpiece by accessories master Stephen Jones might tickle the fancy of a super daring fashionista who lives for shock and awe.

There’s absolutely no doubt about it: Jeremy Scott has fun with fashion. No, you wouldn’t be caught dead in most of these looks, but why not create them? In this new Trump world order, it’s just nice to feel good, isn’t it?

What do you think of the latest from Moschino?

Gigi Hadid headed to dinner in Milan with her sister clad in a DSquared2 Fall 2017 Cow and Plaid Print jacket:

The mid-length jacket is constructed with cow print on the exterior and plain on the interior.

The Hadid sisters really know how to make a statement with their street style.

The jacket is pretty dope.  I loved the mixed patterns.

Show Review: Ty Hunter’s Athleisure Collection Ty Hunter by Reflex

Ty Hunter unveiled his capsule collection in collaboration with Reflex and Six:02 last night at the Bowery Hotel.  The presentation was hosted by Alicia Quarles, who was outfitted in designs from the collection.  As small bites and cocktail circulated the room, we were able to take look, up close and personal, of the vivacious atheleisure line that officially launches today at the SIX:02 store (1460 Broadway).

During the presentation, Alicia and Ty engaged in a Q&A session that gave us deeper insight to the capsule collection.  “Fashion should be fun it shouldn’t be taken too seriously,” he explained.  The importance of loving yourself before you step into your clothes rang loud and clear. Ty recognizes how fashion can affect your self esteem so he made it his duty to create a line that is light and fun; the way fashion should be.

The obvious question of the night was, what was the inspiration behind this collection? “Each piece in this collection was named after a woman who has inspired me.”  Ty paid homage to women in his life by creating garments that represent them.

The collection is amazing!  The vibrant explosion of color creates a cohesive line of clothing that you want to wear, no matter the occasion.  Shades of blue, yellow orange, pink and green really bring life to each garment. It won’t be hard to find a piece that can be worn beyond grocery store runs and jogs in the park.

The collection also offers more traditional pieces for the woman who strays away from bolder althleisure wear.  If you’re into t-shirts, sports bras and spandex pants, the subtle mix of color and cutouts will appeal to those who seek familiarity in sportswear.

Check out our gallery for the entire lookbook.  This is by far one of the best athleisure collections I’ve seen.  The line is available for sale today at SIX:02 in New York City.    You can meet Ty tonight at 6:02 pm at 1460 Broadway to purchase the limited edition capsule collection!  What do you think?  Are you loving Ty Hunter for Reflex?

XOXO- Marsha B.

Hot! or Hmm… Kim Kardashian’s LA Yeezy Season Season 4 Coat, Hermes Kelly Pochette Epsom Leather Bag and Vintage Valentino Sunglasses

Kim Kardashian was spotted out in LA in a Yeezy Season 4 Puffer coat, $15,000 Hermes Kelly Pochette Epsom Leather Bag and vintage Valentino Sunglasses from Open for Vintage:

The cream colored puffer jacket features a high neck and a snap closure.

Her Hermes epsom leather bag is textured, holds shape wonderfully and does not scratch very easily.

Kim wore sweatpants, a corset and vintage Valentino Sunglasses from Open for Vintage to complete her ensemble.

The Kardashian/Jenner sisters have a love for corsets!  They’ve been seen in the trend a lot lately.

This look is questionable to me.  The sweatpants, corset, puffer jacket and boots combo is a bit heavy for me.  What do you think?  Are you feelin’ it?

Winter 2017 Style Inspiration: 4 Ways To Rock the Ruffles Trend

The ruffle trend has made its way to just about every silhouette this season. From frilly tops to asymmetric skirts, even handbags and heels are getting a ruffle-embellished makeover. If you’re looking for a fresh take on one of the season’s must-try trends, peep today’s style inspirations curated by @StyleIsMyObsession.

Add a chic and feminine twist to a military-inspired look with a sage wrap-effect sweater paired with an asymmetric ruffled leather mini skirt.

Complete the look with a stylish draped coat, brown suede sling-back pumps, and a taupe shoulder bag.

Play up the ruffle trend in a color block peplum jumper paired with distressed skinny jeans.

Add the finishing touch with a sleek nude pump, mirrored shades, and a red quilted handbag.

Opt for a monochromatic look in a strappy burgundy midi dress topped with a ruffled lace bomber.

Complete the look with a pair of burgundy ankle-strap suede sandals and a velvet monogram shoulder bag.

Lastly, for a casual day look, work a black ruffle-trimmed sweatshirt offset by a pair of white skinny jeans.

Dress it up with black studded leather pumps, an embellished top-handle handbag, and oversized round shades.
