I always love stumbling across new designers! One you should definitely keep on your radar? Aisling Camps:
The Trinidadian designer fashions minimal, look at me knitwear in her Brooklyn studio. Her Spring 2017 collection comprises dresses, slinky tops, and shorts, with sheer details and sexy touches like low plunge backs or cropped silhouettes.
Summer will definitely be sassier with pieces like these! Wear them alone or over a swimsuit for a romantic getaway.
Prices start at $275 for a bralette and top aoff at around $850 for a dress. A splurge? Yes. But a small investment for a handmade piece.
Hey Guys!
So when you want to promote something, you have to go on tour! Just like a musical artist plans concert dates for their album, authors need to plan dates to promote their books!
I will be in Houston from February 1-5, speaking at conferences and having in store boutique events. On Thursday, February 2nd, I’ll be at Saks in Houston from 2-4pm! Come by the contemporary floor to say hey, get a copy of the Bomb Life, and shop it up!
On February 3rd, I’ll be the keynote speaker at an empowerment brunch called SuperBold. Get details here.
And I might have a few more events up my sleeve…! But I’ll definitely be doing something on the 4th also. Stay tuned!
This will be my first time in Houston, so I hope to see y’all!
Also let a sista know where to go eat! I know the food is BOMB. Leave a note in the comments.
Smootches!
*Yesterday I took a series of meetings in the city! I wore my new favorite dress from my new favorite boutique, Nobody Jones boutique.
I completed my look with a Duckie Confetti fur, Balmain boots, and an Ashaka Givens hat!
Today, we’re taking it back to jheri curls and high-top sneakers with high-top fades to match. To the one of the predecessors of the pop boy band craze. Before *NSync were synchronized, before New Kids On The Block, and before Boyz II Men, there was New Edition.Formed in the early 80’s, members Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, Bobby Brown, Ronnie DeVoe, Johnny Gill, and Ralph Tresvant sought the dream and eventually became successful with hits like “Candy Girl” and my personal favorite “Cool It Now.”
The group may have had its ups and downs, but their style was limitless and unmatched through it all. In true boy band form, they definitely had an affinity for matching outfits, decked out in sequins, bold colors and dizzying patterns.
But as the decades progressed, their styles matured. From hip-hop streetwear to pinstripe suits and velvet blazers, the men of New Edition these days are sharper than a tack.
More than thirty years, have passed and New Edition is still rocking stages across America. Not to mention, they have much to celebrate after recently being honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!
Well deserved, no?
But the cherry on top has to be BET’s biopic miniseries chronicling New Edition’s rise to fame, starring R&B crooner Luke James AS Johnny Gill, Woody McClain as Bobby Brown, Elijah Kelly as Ricky Bell, Empire’s Bryshere Gray as Michael Bivins, Algee Smith as Ralph Tresvant, and Keith Powers as Ronnie DeVoe. Part 1 of the miniseries aired this past Tuesday, with tons of viewers tuning in.
Here’s to a group that paved the way for so many to follow. Though the journey for these men may have been riddled with tumult, they rose above it and remain friends to this day.

What say you to this week’s pick? Will you be watching BET’s New Edition biopic miniseries?
Alice + Olivia are known for their bright prints, bold pieces and stylish threads. Their latest collection has pieces that pay homage to the late artist Basquiat, a man who was known for his bold statements through art and expression. Check out today’s Bomb Product of the Day, Alice + Olivia’s $495 Basquiat Beat Bop Clutch:
This printed leather beauty features a knob closure with the signature Basquiat crown, a removable chain strap, and an interior slide pocket. The design is based off Jean-Michel Basquiat’s Beat Bop print.
She writes, “I would describe my personal style as ‘Comfy chic.'”

It’s a New Year, and we’re inaugurating a new feature: Taye Time with Fitness Tips from Celebrity Trainer Taye Jay! If you follow me on Snapchat, you know that I’m a Soulcycle fanatic! My absolute favorite instructor is Taye, a seriously stunning Bombshell, who has offered to share some of her health and fitness tips with FBD readers.
We posted her stunning headshot to Instagram to kick things off, and you guys wrote in with your questions!
Read below for her answers:
@Vonnie12 wrote, “Any tips on how to keep your curves but lose inches in their waist?”
Taye offers, “To keep your curves but lose inches, increase your protein intake, eat your veggies (asparagus is good), and focus on complex carbs like yams, brown rice, quinoa, etc.”
Next up, @Chacams3 types, “What are the best ways to get rid of back fat?”
Taye is a fan of Sweet Sweat, which is a workout enhancement gel and a waist trainer (get it at Amazon here). Slip that on when you’re hitting the gym and, “work out with long sleeves.” I’ll need to try that! She adds, “Go into the sauna. The sauna is going to melt the fat literally. It detoxes the body and melts the fat.
Lastly, @Cindy_1453 asked, “How do I tone my abdomen and get a six pack?”
She says, “It’s all about what you eat. It’s like 80% food, 20% work out. You have to be on a tight regimen. You have to eliminate most of those carbs and you have to up your protein and veggies intake. Also drink lots of water to flush your body out.”
And that does it! If you want any more fitness tips, leave them in the comment section below! Also be sure to follow Taye on Instagram @Taye_Jay.
