Out with the mother-approved, extremely boring prom dresses and in with the mermaid style, custom-made, see-through gowns that are making adults silently wish for a prom do-over. Just in case you haven’t been paying attention, prom style has evolved. Prom is now a fashion extravaganza that allows young women and men to tap into their inner style beast and show their unique, red carpet-worthy looks off to the world.
The Fashion Bomb Daily team was eager to see how this year’s prom goers were slaying their fabulous frocks. We did a call, and you guys answered. Check out some bomb 2017 prom styles below.
Kaci Eason @adoureann from Sol C Johnson High School in Savannah, GA gave us vintage princess glam in this mermaid style dress by Jovani Designs. Kaci topped this sequinned, feathered dress off with a matching head piece. How lovely is this?!
Rapper Lil’ Wayne and Toya Wright’s daughter came through for prom! Reginae @colormenaenae slayed in this beautiful see-through gown by Yousef Aljasm . It fits her perfectly! Her shoes were by Stuart Weitzman, and she was styled by #noigjeremy. May I borrow this Reginae?
Chelsey Robinson @chelsy_chanelxoxo and her date @gro2th from Lee High School in Huntsville, AL personified “prom goals” as they posed fiercely in pink. Chelsey’s date looked cool in a navy blue suit and a pink bow tie while Chelsey filled her pink mermaid style dress out perfectly. The top of the dress is see-through with an embroidered design covering the front of the dress. Popping!
Carlie @carlieshalove and her date Tay from Hillsboro High School in Nashiville, TN were simply stunning in red and black. Carlie’s satin red dress featured a flower pattern underneath. Sophisticated!
Alexis @thecartelbaby and her date from Lackey High School in Indian Head, MD have to be the cool kids in school because it definitely shows through their prom pics! This gold and silver A-line dress matches Alexis’ skin tone perfectly. We also love how her date wore a traditional tux and metallic sneakers. So unconventional and fly!
Can we get two snaps and a circle for Miss Bailee @bailee_mm from Ensworth High School in Nashville, TN who worked this flower print mermaid style gown?! Most ladies go for the traditional solid prom prints, but Bailee took another route. I love this print for prom Bailee!
Kianna @_.k.money._. wowed us in this two piece royal prom ensemble. The gold detailing popping off of this blue is eye-catching. This is such a classy choice for prom!

The Flora print has continued to evolve and here is Alessandro Michele’s interpretation of the original print from the 60s. This oversize neck bow shirt has become a key silhouette for Gucci.

Cute ‘fit! Kourtney is definitely the most stylish Kardashian, in my opinion. I’d splurge.

Happy Monday, folks!
I’m still recovering from all the fabulosity that was Cocktails with Claire San Francisco!
Fashionistas gathered at Hue San Francisco to sip cocktails, brunch, network, and listen to an informative panel featuring model and entrepreneur Nikki Blades, Branding expert and serial Entrepreneur Tyranny Allen of @Marketing_Kings, and KMEL radio host Durell Coleman.
We chatted about entrepreneurship, branding and building social media profiles. The audience engaged us with interesting questions.
San Francisco came to slay!
This fashionista kept it poppin in blue and pink tones.
A printed top and platforms were on the menu for this fashionista.
These ladies were absolutely fabulous in monochromatic looks.
Yes! To this printed dress and blue heel combo.
Muted hues were given a pop with red heels.
Printed ensembles with nude heels were on point for Spring.
An Express dress and blazer were great choices for the afternoon.
A blazer and pants combo always looks smart.
Lastly, these off the shoulder styles were certainly on trend.
After admiring all the great ensembles in the room, I signed copies of The Bomb Life and said hey to Bay Area Bombshells.
It was fun! The Bay has a wonderful energy and I can’t wait to come back!
For the day, I wore a dress from Bay Area e-store Label Candy Boutique:
I cinched my waist with a Versace belt and completed with Brian Atwood heels. It was originally ankle length and I shortened it to show off my stems!
A lot of people ask: When are you coming to Atlanta? Miami? Houston? Though we are planning to pop by a slew of cities, if you want CWC to come to your town, feel free to bring me down! Kenya from Prestigious Eventz organized all the details, and she did a fabulous job!

Jamel @LaphonsoCarnoahan represented for the fellas in a suit blazer and sneakers.

Barbie has collaborated with some pretty major stars and designers in the past—Zendaya, Ava Duvernay, Karl Lagerfeld, and Moschino are among that special lot. And its latest partnership is with one of our favorite fashionistas and image makers in the world: none other than famed stylist Marni Senofonte.
“I remember cutting her hair,” the Lemonade and Formation stylist stated about her childhood Barbie memories in an interview with InStyle. “I don’t remember how old I was. My parents were teenagers, and they had like no money. I just remember waking up on Christmas morning and seeing a stack of individually wrapped—maybe like 15—packages.” Like so many of us, playing with her Barbie dolls was Senofonte’s first foray into putting together looks.
“I think it was because I was able to express and kind of put Barbie into anything,” she continued. “Any kind of ribbon that I had, or whatnot, I would play around with and make her shoes strap all the way up to her thighs… [Barbie] was like the first kind of object that I was able to express [creativity] through clothing. And I went to Catholic school. I had to wear a uniform my whole life, which was a nightmare for somebody like me.” So for Senofonte, both playing with and dressing Barbie was a form of expression and a sartorial therapy of sorts.
Yesterday, Barbie Style released news of Senofonte’s collaboration to its almost 2 million Instagram followers. “Victorian Punk has been long brewing inside me, the nonconformist in me naturally manifested Victorian into Victorian Punk and the Barbie crew wears it well!,” exclaimed the stylist in one of the brand’s posts. Curves, natural hair, and melanin are all present in the collection.
Of its inclusivity, Senofonte explained, “When I saw all of these shapes and sizes—that alone was the inspiration. We have so many different sized women, and it’s like—especially the bigger women, they always feel like there’s nothing that fits them or makes them look cute. It was just so important to me with the Barbie collection to show a curvy woman or a shorter woman that it’s all possible.” She also wants curvy women to feel comfortable wearing whatever they want. “Everyone can have this,” she exclaimed. “Everyone can do it. And everyone in every size—we can all be cute. It’s not just for a certain size or a certain color.”
The dolls aren’t up for grabs just yet, but I love the Beyoncé-reminiscent looks and cool spins on denim.
Celebs showed up and showed out for NYLON’s Midnight Garden After Dark Party during Coachella 2017. Bold prints, glitter, crop tops, and mixed textures were all on the menu.
Let’s see what they wore!
Amber Rose layered an oversized Versace official jacket over a silver glitter bodysuit and black fishnets. Hot!
A stylish pajama look was on the fashion agenda for Jourdan Dunn, while Sigail Currie flaunted her mile-long stems in a velvet mini dress and black booties. Gorgeous women.
Rita Ora juxtaposed fringe separates with on-trend visor shades and Henry Holland cherry boots. Not for the faint of heart, but totally festival-perfect!
Sofia Richie slipped on a flight suit, Louis Vuitton bag around her waist, and black leather kicks.
Older sister Nicole Richie kept it casual in a white tank, cutoffs, Chuck Taylors, and a long black duster.
Shaun Ross was clad in all-green for the fête. I’ve been loving his inventive looks of late!
Tinashe was outfitted in a head-to-toe Made Gold denim look with a white cutout bralette. Cute, no?
Hannah Bronfman was also spotted in head-to-toe denim, with a black bralette for good measure. And a flash of her toned abs, of course.
