The Tonys are starting now! Our favorite Broadway stars, actresses, musicians, and all-around style stars are already in attendance.
Let’s get into the night’s looks!
Chrissy Teigen opted for a strapless white and gold design, while John Legend uplifted a classic tux with a purple bow tie. Always one of my favorite duos to see at any event.
Cynthia Erivo brought the drama in a long-sleeve black gown with a plunging neckline, head-turning embellishment, and a feather hem. Beautiful!
Condola Rashad was radiant in a strapless Vivienne Westwood LBD. I loved this.
Michael Kors put a super cool spin on the timeless skirt suit for Scarlett Johansson, outfitting her in a custom, chain-embellished belted pairing.
Alek Wek served up major supermodel vibes in a strapless Oscar de la Renta dress and embellished boots.
A strapless, leaf-embroidered dress was on the style agenda for Denee Benton. She’s a beauty!
Mommy-to-be Patina Miller was pretty in pink.
Olivia Wilde was the lady in red, choosing a plunging beaded Michael Kors Collection gown in the fiery hue—and the perfect sleek bob.
Jay Manuel was dapper in a printed Tom Ford sports coat. So handsome.
Miss Saigon actress Eva Noblezada is up for Best Actress in a Musical! The 21 year-old beauty slipped on a gorgeous Jonathan Simkhai dress for her big night, with literal statement-making gold earrings. Hot!
Taye Diggs and Amanza Smith were quite the stunning couple. Her floral embroidered dress was beautiful, no?
It was all about prints for Cobie Smulders in a strapless, colorful full-skirted gown. Pretty!
It’s been awhile since we’ve seen Justin Guarini on the red carpet! He cut a fine form in all-black.
Anna Kendrick slipped on a black and white floral print Miu Miu gown with a dainty bow detail. She’s never looked better!
David Oyelowo never disappoints in the style department and the Tonys were no exception! He chose an expertly-tailored charcoal suit with black contrast trim.
Sarah Paulson was white hot in a strapless, latticework Rodarte number and red accents. I live for her style.
Candice Swanepoel looked every bit the supermodel in a strapless, sheer-skirted Prabal Gurung stunner. This was fab!
Miranda Hobbes would certainly approve of Cynthia Nixon’s strapless pink Rosie Assoulin frock and contrast red pumps. Simple and chic, for sure.
Sara Bareilles was ethereal in a shimmery, star motif sheer gown. Hot!
Jenna Lyons brought the boudoir to the red carpet, wearing a robe-inspired printed dress. She’s always flawless.
Michelle Wilson certainly turned a few heads in an off-the-shoulder red Hakaan piece.
Zac Posen accompanied Liu Wen, who he dressed in his very own strapless, floral print gown.
Marvel’s newest film “Black Panther” is set to release in February 2018, and dropped their trailer on Friday. The Science Fiction film features a star-studded cast including Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Angela Bassett, Danai Gurira, and many more. The almost 2 minute trailer was not only action packed, but fashion-filled with costumes that already have us eager to learn about the people of Wakanda, the film’s fictional setting.
Early in the trailer, two men discuss Wakanda, the home of the superhero Black Panther aka T’Challa, and describe it as, “…a third world country. Textiles, shepherds, cool outfits.” The teaser shows Wakanda and its inhabitants confronting The Black Panther in bright and vibrant colors. The bold yellow and green prints gave us a slight foreshadowing as to what we can expect next in the film.
Armor is a prominent theme in the trailer. The Black Panther’s matte black armor, festooned with spikes on the chest, add an edgy aura to his fictional character.
The female guards stand tall and strong in their red and gold suits of armor. With their bright red ensembles and shaved heads, they stand confident and stand their ground. The detailing from the chokers to the shoulders show that these costume designers kept it trendy throughout the film.
Lupita Nyong’o, who plays Nakia, is dressed in a similar red armor. With a clinched waist and gold and silver detailing, her character’s suit of arms looks as if it could almost be a dress.
Letitia Wright, who plays Shuri, acts as Nakia’s battle partner. She wears a darker suit of armor with gloves and her face is full of tribal make-up.
A snippet of the trailer also shows a tribal leader wearing a teal pants suit with a lime green button-down. The repetition of bright colors and bold accoutrements plays to the African references in the film.

The bright, colorful, and yet trendy costumes for “Black Panther” definitely make me more eager to check it out! It hits theaters February 16th 2018.
Will you be going to see it?
Rihanna just can’t stop winning! The singer kills the red carpet with her statement looks and has fashionista’s obsessing over her clothing, Fenty Puma. And, she recently announced that she will be releasing her first cosmetic line, Fenty Beauty, this Fall. The trendy singer continues to put in “work, work, work” behind the scenes.
Rihanna posted the below photo a few days ago, announcing the brand’s Fall 2017 release.
The brand’s tag line is “The New Generation of Beauty” and according to per the brand’s fan page @FentyBeauty on Instagram, all of the products will be available in Sephora. According to HarpersBazaar.com, the first product drop of the line will be a holographic lip product used backstage at the Fenty x Puma Spring 2017 runway show.
With Rihanna’s loyal fan base, there is no doubt that Fenty Beauty will be one of the hottest make-up brands when fall arrives. If the beauty line is anything like her fashion line, it’ll be sold out in no time so be on the lookout for her cosmetics when the summer starts to come to a close. The cosmetic line’s website is live and for now you can sign up on the mailing list here.
The Kardashian-Jenner clan is hitting headlines yet again with another major controversy. This time it’s Kylie Jenner and her latest collection “Camo.”
Kylie stans went crazy, saying Kyle was making camo trendy, however Twitter quickly corrected those misinformed, reminding them that Destiny’s Child wore two-piece camo sets in their 2001 “Survivor” music video.
To add salt to the wound— not only was she accused of biting DC’s, but Plugged NYC, a New York-based “Street Chic” clothing company is accusing the Keeping Up With The Kardashians reality star of straight up stealing their designs.
Tizita Balemlay, Creative Director of Plugged NYC claims that while she certainly didn’t create the two piece camo trend, she takes credit for bringing it back to life. Balemlay posted a photo to her personal Instagram of Kylie in her “Camo” collection next to her Plugged NYC models and said, “I am the influence *drops mic…” Plugged NYC has worked with celebrities like Rihanna, Keke Palmer, Kehlani and more. Tizita also shared emails between her and Kylie’s stylist, confirming that Kylie did know about her brand. While she did not send her any camo sets, she did send her tops.
The upset Creative Director continues to post messages to her Instagram like, “Y’all don’t support talent, y’all support popularity.” A lot of Plugged NYC’s supporters have been encouraging Balemlay to take legal action, but there has not been any confirmation. Kylie Jenner remains silent.

With today’s admiration of the coined phrase “Black Girl Magic,” there are many reasons to dig through the archives on what shaped black fashion, beauty, and entrepreneurship. The exhibit, ‘Inspiring Beauty: 50 Years of Ebony Fashion Fair‘ celebrates historical success.
Created by the Chicago Historical Museum under Johnson Publishing Company, the exhibit is currently on a 9-city tour and has touched down in Washington, DC at George Washington University’s Textile Museum. It will remain there until July 24th.
Founder and fashion mogul the late Eunice Walker Johnson paved the way for people of color in the fashion industry, specifically models who faced racial discrimination at many fashion houses. She started her own fashion show empire, Ebony Fashion Fair and cosmetic line, ‘Fashion Fair Cosmetics.‘
With help from her late husband, John Johnson, founder of Johnson Publishing Company, from 1958-2009, they supported charities at their fashion shows and in the end raised more than $55 million for black organizations during their 30-city tour around the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean. It soon lead Ebony Fashion Fair to become the biggest traveling fashion showcase ever.
Johnson was heavily known for her themed fashions shows that brought nothing but entertainment and electric energy to the catwalk. With her connections to European designers and Black designers she made sure she had the best couture designs displayed on the runways (she is pictured with Yves Saint Laurent below).
From YSL, Oscar de la Renta, Pierre Cardin, Paco Rabanne, Givenchy, Jean Paul Gaultier, Valentino, Emanuel Ungaro, Vivienne Westwood to Patrick Kelly, Stephen Burrows and more, she splurged more than $1 million on garments and stuck closely to bold colors and prints throughout her collections.
As previously reported, Back in 2011, Leslie Hindman Auctioneers held a three-term auction with approximately 1500 garments for sale.
Now, many of the most prominent couture designs, more than a 100 of them are displayed at The Textile Museum as well as memorabilia of the great Eunice Johnson herself.
It’s Friday, which means it’s time to delve into the fabulous looks of the week! Of course we have you to thank for helping us decide based on all your likes. So let’s get into it, shall we?
You would think someone whose wardrobe consists of predominately black and white would somehow run out of ways to stun, but not Janelle Monae! She made her presence known at the CFDA awards in a fabulous pant suit by Christian Siriano. Who would have thought a half crop top half blazer would be so damn epic. Can we please just take a moment to applaud Siriano on such a risk-taking bad ass creation!
He didn’t just stop there with the design, he pushed the envelope a little more by adding stripes opposite the black on her top and pants. Though this is a quirky take on the pant suit; it is bold and sexy in every sense of the way. Heck, she deserved an award just for this ensemble right here. You guys did good, first place was no doubt hers to win.
Lil Mama served in a dolphin print Kimono dress by Charles and Ron. With a face beat to the gods and the ultimate diva stance, she clearly knew she was killing it.
She paired the look with gold metallic Steve Madden platforms, the perfect pairing for her flowy dress. Her soft curly coif and plunging neck line made this look all the more appeasing. The confidence she speaks through this photo just captivates you.
Queen Bey’s mama, Ms. Tina Lawson, never skips a beat with reminding us that the apple does not fall far from the tree. She slayed in a peach colored rosette dress matched with the perfect sunnies. I’m a huge fan of monochromatic looks and mama Tina hit it on the nail with this one. What can I say, she’s a bad mama jama!
Naomi Campbell has been slaying catwalks since I was in diapers and somehow still manages to look the same decades later. Catwalks are not the only thing this veteran model knows how to own. She looked regal in an ivory gown by Ralph and Russo at the Monte Carlo Fashion Week Gala. The one shoulder couture gown with embellished trim was not only perfect for her skin tone, but it also hugged her in all the right places. Naomi just knows how to go glam with it!
If a day off comes with all this Gucci in tow, I’ll gladly take it! Vanessa trotted around LA on her day off in this casual look accessorized in all Gucci. This is the perfect example of how a look can go from drab to fab if paired with the right pieces. She dressed her denim with the popular Gucci double g belt which went well with their leather mules. Then, there’s the large ‘Blind for love’ bag with red accents that tied the look together. I just love how Vanessa pulled this off so effortlessly!
That’s all for the round up! I’ll catch you back here next week!
Today’s Bombshell is Domonique from Charlotte, North Carolina.
She writes, “I would describe my style as Simple, Sexy, Chic because it directly correlates to my personality. When I step out I own my outfit, I own my style. This is me. You’re going to feel me when you see me.”
“I love pops of color and accessorizing my outfits to fit different occasions. I shop online & local boutiques mostly.”
“I love Rihanna and Beyoncé’s style. I can definitely say they have inspired my style greatly. They are beautiful & confident women who demand the room at every event. Who wouldn’t want to learn from them?! Lol”
“I am currently looking into breaking into the beauty business however, I enjoy being in front of the camera modeling. I think as the years have went by I have discovered a passion to help other women/models. I will pursue becoming creative director on future photo shoots & possibly photography.”
