When your editor contacts you on a Monday and asks if you could be in Barbados by the end of the week to represent the brand at their Fashion Festival – you cancel all of your commitments, figure out what your wardrobe will be, and wait to receive your travel arrangements! This is exactly what happened to me last week, and I’m still basking in the afterglow of the Caribbean sun! I’m excited to write that I got the chance to spontaneously experience Barbados culture, and it was everything! I can’t give you an extensive list on what eateries to visit or where to shop because I was there for only a few days on business. However, I can give you the scoop on a fun activity to try, an interesting Barbadian artist you should know, and some Caribbean designers to add to your fashion list. Check out a quick summary of my Barbados adventure below!
During the trip, I had the chance to experience snorkeling in the Atlantic Ocean. At first I was hesitant because I didn’t bring the necessary products to wash my hair. But after some convincing from my travel mates, I gave in. If you are ever in the Caribbean, you must experience this adventure. There’s nothing like observing sea life in its habitat – especially in clear blue water.
While on this Barbados venture, my travel mates and I had the wonderful opportunity of connecting with an indigenous artist by the name of Sheena Rose. This talented, vivacious young lady births art that reflects her view of the world. Her work reaches beyond the Barbadian culture, and if you ever have the opportunity to view her paintings, I guarantee she has created a piece that will speak to you. Just ask tennis star Venus Williams who owns one of Rose’s paintings from her “Town” series. Check out Sheena and some of her work below.
The fashion in Barbados is a mixture of Caribbean culture and urban swag. The looks were infused with vibrant colors, modern fabrics, and classic patterns. Check out some of my favorite fashion moments below.
Barbados was everything I thought it would be and more. The people were interesting, the seafood was fresh, the colors of the land were vivid, and the culture was intriguing. I would love to thank my EIC, Claire Sulmers, for presenting me with this amazing opportunity, IFF Barbados and also my super cool travel mates, Sharifa Murdock of Liberty Fairs, Ouigi Theodore of The Brooklyn Circus, Ron Oppong of Liberty Fairs, and Danielle Cooper of She’s A Gent. You were all a joy to be around, and your good energy was undeniable! I look forward to many more Barbados Fashion Festivals with you guys!

Today’s Bombshell style is funky and fresh. Behold Alaia from New York City.
She writes, “My style is very versatile. I don’t have one set look that people can attach me to, which makes my wardrobe fun and spontaneous. At times it can be edgy and trend-driven other times it can be minimal and comfortable. It all depends on what mood I’m in and what I want to portray to the world that day.”
“I’m constantly getting inspired by street style fashion which influences my daily looks in some way or another. It could be a certain way a person tied their belt, to a colorway that I wouldn’t have thought to put together.” View more looks below:

Rapstress Remy Ma is a fan. She was recently spotted at the VH1 Hip Hop Honers rocking these stunners in Gucci catsuit worn under a JunJie bubble coat.
Rochelle Humes graced the carpet at the Pride of Britain Awards looking glorious in a Barrus London jumpsuit that boasted a deep plunge and matching wait belt. She accessorized with neutral metallic accessories that kept the look sleek. This was definitely a fab red carpet look!
MJB was quite the vision in this cinching number from Toni Maticevski? I love how Maticevski played with the dimensions of the dress adding flair to just the right places whilst still maintaining her hourglass figure. This was a hit!
Adrienne Bailon took it all the way nude for the Latin AMA’s in a high slit dress from House of CB. The style and flow of the dress were perfect for an awards night. Love how she went with a darker lip and nails to go against her monochromatic tones.
Naomi Campbell does not just have runways down pact, she’s the queen at serving a good carpet look; this Jean Paul Gauthier is the perfect example of such. If that weren’t enough, how about the bold statement earring that extended to her nose. All in all, Issa look!
Mila caught us all off guard with these red hot over the knee Fendi boots. Who would’ve thought this mama of two would’ve come out swinging for her “Bad Mom’s 2” promo. Can we just note how much of a bawse she looks like suited up with her shades and an entourage to match? Go ahead, Mila!
Crafted from a plush velvet material these boots feature an almond toe, faux pearl embellishments, a back zip fastening and beautifully embroidered details.
These booties are the perfect addition to add to your fall footwear collection.
