Best of the Met Gala 2018: The Hottest Looks with Rihanna in Maison Margiela, Cardi B in Moschino, Kim Kardashian in Versace, and More!

The celebs brought the heat to the 2018 Met Gala Red Carpet! This year’s theme was “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.” While some attendees dressed for the theme in over-the-top headpieces and gowns festooned with beads, others chose to just dress without playing along with the theme. Here were some of the hottest looks that walked the biggest carpet of the year:

All hail, Queen Rih! Can Rihanna do any wrong? She is known for consistently shutting the Met Gala carpet down every year, and tonight was no different. She made her entrance in a custom beaded Maison Margiela ensemble. She fully embraced the Catholicism theme wearing a papal tiara inspired by the hats worn by popes. Rih somehow seems to always get it, and we are here for it. Bomb!

Not many celebs attend their first Met Gala pregnant, but Cardi B is not any other celeb! She is not letting this baby bump slow her down one bit! The Bronx native rapper and fashionista brought the heat to the carpet in custom Moschino dress that hugged her belly and still allowed her to be sexy while showing off some cleavage and legs with a high thigh slit. The embellished dress had a matching headpiece that on Cardi’s head accessorizing her hair for the night.  To add to her bejeweled look, she wore thick garnished choker and matching cloves. Safe to say she came through drippin’ from head to toe!

Kim Kardashian kept it sleek and chic in a curve-hugging Versace dress. The shimmery gold dress featured two crystal crosses to play into the theme for the night. Kim’s high ponytail and smokey eye was extremely gorgeous for the occasion. Stunning!Jasmine Sanders was a reader favorite on the ‘Gram! She stunned in a H&M gold structured gown. The highlight of her look that readers loved were the roses wefted into her braid going down her back. While everyone rocked statement headpieces, she just gave her everyday “headpiece” a pick me up. What a goddess!  Bomb couple! New parents, Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott weren’t quite on theme, but they brought their A-game in Alexander Wang. Kylie showed off her curves in her all black dress and we even peeked at a little skin through her cutout. Travis went for a military-inspired look in his all black.

Rita Ora made an appearance draped in a sheer Prada dress with an over-the-top black headpiece.

Jlo was a hot mama on the carpet! The ageless songstress struck a pose donning a Balmain dress adorned with a huge bedazzled cross and added shoulders. The sexy dress featured a high thigh slit and feathered train. She better work!

Chadwick Boseman represented for the Fashion Bomb Men on the carpet dressing for the theme in Versace from head to toe. Participating in the theme, his cape was covered in crosses while his pants had brocade printing down the leg. Well done for his first Met!

Versace, Versace,Versace! We could’ve guessed this one—Migos hit the carpet in Versace ensembles. Although all of their suits were various prints, they complemented each other very well. Bomb!

Nicki Minaj is back on the scene and coming heavy! She graced the carpet in a ombré Oscar de la Renta dress adding a red tulle drape over her. The Queens native rapper accessorized with a bejeweled headpiece and Lesilla sandals. Red looks bomb on Nicki!

Zendaya showed off her hot new color and cut on the carpet, which complemented her silver chain Versace dress with sleeves and a waistline almost identical to shield’s of armor. Hot!

Sarah Jessica Parker is known to shut down the Met Gala carpet with iconic looks and she didn’t come to play this year! Sarah posed in a gold brocade Dolce & Gabbana dress adorned with red hearts throughout. She topped her look off with a matching headpiece to go address the theme. Did she nail it?!

It was all about black and white for Janelle Monae as she hit the carpet clad in a Marc Jacobs ensemble.

Mary J Blige is consistent with her style, she loves her some boots! Mary struck a pose on the carpet glowing in a light blue Versace dress with gold embellishment. It was all about the thigh high slits this year— Mary was sure to show off her matching boots through her slit. Gorgeous!

Issa Rae looked regal in a belted black & gold Michael Kors dress. As an added touch, her make up was flawless!Blake Lively stunned in a burgundy Versace dress with an embroidered train that graciously followed her up the infamous stairs.

Diddy & Cassie went for menswear inspiration this year and changed it up a bit. Diddy rocked an all white Musika Frere suit, while Cassie opted for a Thom Browne suit with a feminine touch. Yara Shahidi looked as cute as a button on the carpet clad in a Chanel SS18 from head to toe. She’s such a class act at a young age with an effortless style. Slay, Yara!  Kendell Jenner kept it simple for the night in an Off White off-the-shoulder jumpsuit with  tulle details at the top. She usually does a bit more with her looks, but she still looked amazing!

Gigi Hadid smized on the carpet in a beaded butterfly wing Versace dress. Come through Gabby! We can all agree that yellow and melanin go hand and hand! It was an effortless slay for Gabrielle Union in a plunging neckline Prabal Gurung dress. The yellow looked amazing on Gabby’s skin and had her glowing on the carpet. She also tried out a new  high-bun  style. Ariana Grande traded out her signature high pony for a headpiece on the carpet. She looked graceful in a strapless Vera Wang gown. The Catholic theme of the night called for the religious print of the dress. Katy Perry made quite an entrance on the carpet with huge Angel wings that could put Victoria’s Secret runway show wings to the test. She wore a goldVersace dress with a beaded net over it and completed her look with gold thigh high boots. She certainly turned heads!

Tracee Ellis Ross went bold in in a hot pink Michael Kors belted dress and coat by the brand.

Best of the Met Gala: Fashion Bomb Daily Editors Reflect On Memorable Met Gala Moments in Anticipation of Tonight’s Red Carpet

Happy Monday, bombers and bombshells! Not only is today Monday, but it is the first Monday of May. Fashion’s biggest night — the Met Gala! We will be giving you the blow by blow tonight, but until then in anticipation of the fashion-filled carpet the Fashion Bomb Daily team is reflecting on some of the most iconic looks from the historic night. From Queen Bey to bomb couples like Diddy & Cassie we’ve rounded up our most memorable Met Gala Moments.

Our EIC, Claire Sulmers reflects on one of her favorite looks, “All eyes were on the Queen Bey when she glided into the Met Gala in a jaw-dropping Givenchy dress whose sheer composition left little to the imagination. But more show stopping than her dress were her accessories: a slicked high ponytail, coiffed by @nealfarinah, and a fierce pose that let everyone know a true Queen was in the building. Every single shot exuded unstoppable  confidence and swagger, one of the most important elements when gracing such an iconic red carpet.”

Claire adds to her most memorable moment reflections with an unforgettable slay from Kimye. She writes, “Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are fashion icons, and they always bring it for the #MetGala ! For the “Deus et Machina” themed event in 2016, they both slipped on machine inspired Balmain ensembles, cast in scintillating silver. Not only did Kanye buck tradition by wearing jeans, he also made a statement, uplifting his crystal embellished denim jacket with bold blue contact lenses. #KimKardashian complemented him perfectly in a sculpted gown. This was hands down one of the most memorable and stylish Met Gala moments.”

Asia Milia Ware reminisced on bad gal Riri’s head turning look from last year saying, “Rihanna’s 2017 Met Gala look was undoubtedly a ‘Wow’ moment as were her past ensembles. As the fashion icon she is, she dropped jaws in an architecturally pleasing Comme Des Garçon’s frock layered with petal-like floral printed fabric. With thigh-high DSquared2 sandals and bold make-up she made iconic Met Gala history.”

More editor’s throwback iconic picks! Samjah Iman writes, “When I saw Sarah Jessica Parker clad in this signature, black and white Oscar De La Renta gown at the 2014 Met Ball – my jaws dropped! It was a nostalgic moment for me. It took me back to the Sex and the City days where fashion had more to do with glamour and less to do with popularity. This classic look will forever be etched in my heart!”

Gloria Nella threw it back to the 70’s Met Gala carpet for one of her most memorable moments. A feathery frock worn by Cher that has been recreated in many ways, Gloria says, “Cher is known for her undisputed red carpet looks but when she teamed up with legendary designer Bob Mackie in 1974 it was nothing short of magical. The Swarovski crystal embellishments, the whimsical feathered features laced with a daring sheer undertone is simply one for the books!”

Lastly, our editor Giselle recalled one of her dearest Met Gala red carpet moments with bomb couple Diddy & Cassie. “When it comes to finessing the perfect concoction of swag and slay, leave it to Diddy and Cassie to douse you with style and flair from head to toe! For the 2017 Met Gala , Diddy‘s Rick Owens tailored suit was exquisite and #cassie was resplendent in a breathtaking On Aura Tout Vu gown. What’s not to love? This was simply a full on Met Gala fashion moment!”

These are some pretty hot moments from the carpet. Keep it locked to FashionBombDaily.com and to our Instagram for full coverage of the carpet tonight! Who are you most excited to see?

On the Scene + Claire’s Life: Gucci’s Dapper Dan Event with ASAP Rocky, Salma Hayek, Jared Leto, and More!

Happy Sunday!
Last night, I received an invitation to an event at Gucci’s store on Wooster street to party pre-Met Gala and also preview Dapper Dan’s collection for the Italian Fashion House.

Dapper Dan’s collection for the brand encompasses all of the over-the-top logo loving of his prior designs, updated with more contemporary finesse. Bold double G adorned track jackets are fashioned out of sequins, leather monogrammed hoodies are uplifted with gold trims and ostentatious designs, and glasses come equipped with all over crystals. This collection is not for the faint of heart.

I had fun trying on a few jackets, along with the eyewear.

Then it was time to party! I grabbed a pic with the man of the hour, Dapper Dan, along with A Boogie. Stylists and designers such as B Akerlund and Lynn Ban were in the house, as were stylists, models, and industry fixtures such as Bevy Smith, Legendary Damon, Shaun Ross, Terrell Lish, and more.

I ended up leaving early, but ASAP Rocky, Jared Leto, Salma Hayek, Paris Jackson, Nicky Hilton and many more bold faced names made their way down to 63 Wooster to toast to Gucci and to Dapper Dan’s fabulous foray.

As someone who has followed Dan’s contributions to hip hop culture from the beginning, I am proud of this historic move, and thankful to Gucci for being at the forefront of change in the industry. It was a wonderful event!

Is It Wise to Purchase Fashion Items Online?

When it comes to the world of fashion, we all like to try out different things. The fact that there is so much choice available these days means this is easier than ever – you can find the perfect outfits for every occasion, taste, and need. In addition, you can get some great deals on fashion items so you don’t have to break the bank to benefit from having a stylish, versatile wardrobe.

For many people, the natural solution to buying great value outfits is to go online – after all, we go online for everything these days from buying our groceries and booking holidays through to carrying out a background and sex offender search on people for employment purposes. It comes as no surprise, therefore, that so many of us go online to get our clothing. However, is this the best means of purchasing new outfits?

What are the benefits of doing this?

There are certainly many benefits that come from going online in order to purchase your new clothes and outfits. First off, you have more choice than you could hope for because you can purchase from retailers and websites from around the world. This means that you will be able to find the perfect clothing for your needs, tastes, and budget without any problem.

The other key benefit is buying your fashion items online is that you can get great value for money. A lot of fashion retailers online do not have bricks and mortar shops, and this means that their overheads are low. As a result, they can afford to charge consumers far less, so you can get the perfect outfit for a fraction of the price you might pay on the High Street.

One of the other great benefits is that you do not have to spend time getting ready, going out, and then getting stuck in queues. You can browse and shop from the comfort and privacy of your own home whenever it suits you, which means high levels of ease and convenience when it comes to shopping for fashion.

What is the downside?

You do also have to consider the downside of going online to purchase fashion items. The main problem that many people have is not being able to try on the clothes, which means that they really have no idea whether they will fit properly and how they will look and feel. This means that you are basically ordering blindly based on the size and style of the clothes you normally wear. However, as we know sizes can vary from one designer and manufacturer to another, which makes things more difficult.

The good thing is that most retailers will be happy to accept returns in the event that the clothes you purchase online do not fit properly. You could even order two of the same outfit in different sizes if you have doubts, and you can then return the one that does not fit properly.
