She writes, “I’d describe my style like I describe my personality…a mix of boldness, class and a pinch of edge. I love mixing prints and in my closet, animal print is a neutral!”

Happy Tuesday, folks!
This past weekend, I was graciously invited by Germaine Leftridge to participate in Ubiquitous Expo, a forum focused on haircare for relaxed and natural Bombshells.
I participated on a panel called “Defining U,” alongside superstar Bombshells Angela Gates, Director of the Office of Cable Television, Film, Music and Entertainment & Interim Director of the Commission on the Arts and Humanties for the District of Columbia, Arian Simone, Celebrity Publicist, Author of Founder & CEO of Fearless Brand and Magazine, Brandi Harvey, National and International Speaker and Founder of Beyond Her, Cynthia Bailey, Model, Actress, Entrepreneur and Reality Television Personality, and Resa B. Luster, Brand Manager at Large, Luster Products, Inc.
We spoke about how we define this point in our lives, how we overcome adversities, and what impression we’d want people to have of us.
One impression I wanted people to have of me: that I was classy, smart, and humble. I encouraged many Bombshells in attendance to approach me with questions, because I’m all about collaboration over competition. I enjoyed meeting so many of you after speaking!
Another highlight of the day: giving three attendees makeovers with Arian Simone. I haven’t done a makeover in quite some time, but it was fun to encourage the ladies chosen to have fun with hair, makeup, and clothes. We need to do these more often!
After appearing on stage, I grabbed pix with some of my co-panelists.
Then it was time to come home!
I’ll admit it: I have a thing for suits. But I love fun suits in sequins, bold colors, and with unexpected pops (like leopard).
Now I’m back in NYC and preparing for Fashion Week!
Be sure to RSVP to the fashion show I am hosting on September 9th here.
Ubiquitous Expo is a lot of fun, and a must attend for anyone obsessed with hair, makeup, and skin. Save the date for the next, and find out more info on Instagram @Ubiquitous_Expo.

Angela Simmons rocked a mini Versace dress and boots by the brand. I would’ve loved to see a cute sandal or pump with this!
Ciara graced the scene in a sequin and tulle Balmain dress. Hot!
Seven Streeter wore an embellished Redemption pantsuit. Such an effortless and classy look!
Come through, Mary! Bombshell Mary J. Blige struck a pose on the carpet donning a printed Roberto Cavalli dress with cutouts. The bottom of the dress was pleated with a thigh slit, bomb!
Ava DuVernay smized in an embellished Michael Kors frock with a feathered trim. She has a statement look for the carpet, and this definitely aligns with it.
Queen Naomi Campbell skipped out on the carpet, but she posed before accepting her “Black Girl Magic” award clad in a bright orange pleated Calvin Klein dress. I can’t think of a better color on her!
Queen Latifah hosted the awards in a printed tee, leggings, and a black cape. She definitely turned heads on the carpet!

Serena Williams’s Wakanda inspired compression black catsuit was recently banned from the French Open, with French Open President Bernard Giudicelli saying, “I believe we have gone too far. Serena’s outfit this year will no longer be accepted. You have to respect the game and the place.”
Serena apparently wore the catsuit because she said it made her feel like a “warrior princess,” and to inspire, “all the moms out there who had a tough recovery from pregnancy.”
This isn’t the first time a catsuit has caused a stir. In 1985, tennis player Anne White caused a sensation at Wimbledon when she played her first match in a white catsuit and leg warmers. Tournament referee Alan Mills suggested she wear something else for subsequent days, which she did. She later said, “I had no idea it would be so controversial.”
So it seems the tennis powers that be are not quite ready to accept the feminine form displayed via close fit catsuits.
