Happy Saturday!
I am currently in Atlanta, handling some family business and also prepping for Convos with Claire! Our event is coming up October 13th, and I couldn’t be more excited to see how ATL shows out with our Logo Love dress code! So Fun!
The day before I hopped on a plane, I was honored to receive Cafe Mocha Radio’s Style Awards, as apart of their Salute Her Honors.
I was blessed to receive an award alongside industry change makers like Arva Rice, President of the New York Urban League, celebrity publicist Gwendolyn Quinn, legendary singers Valerie Simpson and Nona Hendryx, activist Gwen Carr, and Bloomberg radio anchor Donna Wilson.
The brand features loads of looks I love, including tutus of various colors equipped with high slits, sleek suits, and more. I’m sure you’ll love them! Check them out here.
Life is still in a bit of an upheaval with @FashionbombDaily disabled, but I’m slowly but surely bouncing back! I’ve gotten over the shock of what happened, been doing my best to get it together, and have learned how to just get on with life. Awards and honors like this one certainly keep me encouraged!
Thank you to Sheila Eldridge and Cafe Mocha Radio for this honor!
Happy Thursday, Bombers and Bombshells!

Italian fashion house, Versace has lead the fashion industry with iconic designs for decades. The brand could be sold to Michael Kors in a $2 billion deal according to the Wall Street Journal.
Toning down the Versace designs would certainly take away from the brand’s image. Readers were not too happy with this news. @yourstyleisforever said, “This is a mess to me. I respect MK but he isn’t Versace and I don’t feel is equipped to carry on the legacy. I don’t want to see Versace on Macy’s racks.” @jerksauceshawty added, “Nooooo Donatella, don’t do this to your brother’s legacy.”
Paris Fashion Week kicked off today as the last week of runway shows during fashion month. But, Milan Fashion Week closed out with weekend with one of our faves sitting front row—Cardi B! The bombshell rapper attended Dolce & Gabbana’s show rocking animal print from head to toe. She wore a D&G tiger printed trench dress accessorized with fur glasses by the brand and bomb earrings. She completed the look with $1,295 leopard print Giuseppe Zanotti thigh high boots.
Not many people can pull off head to toe animal print, but Cardi looked bomb! With 10,000+ like on our Instagram, readers were loving this ensemble @kingcleopatra_ said, “Cardi always looks so polished and high fashion! Her stylist is nailing it! I absolutely love this. THIS is how you make a statement. DG is still supporting this authentic woman. So proud of her!” We couldn’t agree more! Cardi and her stylist, Kollin Carter are certainly a force to be reckoned with when they work together.
After the show is the after party! Cardi performed at a Dolce event following the show wearing the brand’s thread yet again. This time she strayed away from the animal print and stepped out in a chic pantsuit.
The pink printed jacquard suit featured embellished lapels and looked super classy on Cardi. I love the quick switch to the extra long hair! Next up, Paris Fashion Week! Are you excited to see what she will step out in?
Happy Monday!
Today I wanted to do a quick feature on Bella Evans @ByBellaEvans, a fabulous New York based natural hairstylist and wig specialist.
She got her start in hair care a few years ago when her aunt was diagnosed with cancer. She says, “She had long luscious locs for years and [lost them due to] chemotherapy etc. From that moment on, not only did I realize the impact that hair had on women but that I would try to make a difference. My mom is a bit of an herbalist and from her teachings and studying I came up with my own line of hair care products, extensions, and other hair replacement pieces.”
She continues, “My inspiration came from not knowing what a lot of ingredients meant. From seeing a product listed as a coconut oil infused moisturizer, reading the ingredients and seeing coconut oil (or something derived from it) as the fourth or fifth ingredient. I wanted to be able to know exactly what was in the products that I decided to use. My heart has always been in natural hair and skin care. For me the apothecary/ holistic approach is the way to go.”
A lot of women wear wigs, but sometimes neglect their natural hair. Bella recommends that those who wear wigs take them off to allow their scalp to breathe. She says, “A healthy scalp is crucial for long and healthy hair growth.”
In terms of the do’s and don’ts of wearing wigs, she says: Do be expressive, and allow your creative juices to flow. Take care of your wigs as you would your natural hair. If you do not take care of your natural hair, start doing both.
Do not use excessive heat or oil-based products. Don’t leave your wig on for long periods of time, your scalp needs to breathe. Do not forget to rid your wigs of built up bacteria by using a clarifying shampoo.
How about rules for natural hair?
Do read the ingredients in the products, do wash your hair regularly but not so much that you strip your hair of its natural oils. Try to stay free of synthetic products. Do steam and deep conditioning treatments at least twice a month.
Do not use excessive heat on your natural hair, do not forget to oil your hair and keep it moisturized, do not think that’s wigs and extensions are an end all be all. They are a temporary solution, you have to fix the initial problem if you want to see change.
In conclusion she says, “I love that I can be creative and help others. I love that my job allows me to have time with my family. But most of all I love that I can change someone’s day or brighten their world by living in my purpose. Healing the outside by bringing what’s on the inside to the surface. Helping individuals learn that your outer beauty comes from within.”

Happy Saturday!
I’m currently in LA, headed to the Beyonce concert tonight! But before I hopped on a plane cross country, I popped by a launch party for Reign, a news streaming service for African-American films and TV shows.
Everything from Brown Sugar to Shaft will be available on this new platform! It launches in May. Stay tuned for updates at Reign.com.
To celebrate, the brand gathered influencers, movers, and shakers like Naturi Naughton, Umindi Francis, Chris Chambers, Antoine Phillips, and more, in addition to Reign executives Quincy Newell, Aubrey Flynn, and Lisa Holly, for a cocktail party at Ludlow House.
Versace showcased their Spring 2019 collection during Milan Fashion Week today and among the front row guests were Nicki Minaj. She wore a waist cinching leather belt and printed skirt by the brand that was previously worn by Jlo last Spring.
Jlo rocked her skirt with a signature logo Versace t-shirt and a wide waist belt. She accessorized with long yellow fringe earrings and rocked long straight tresses.
Nicki Minaj was front row ready rocking her skirt with the same belt and a leather corset top. The “Queen” rapper accessorized her look a bit more with a plaid head wrap and hat, neon gloves, and bulky gold Versace chains.
Both of their looks were a combination of the original runway look from last fashion week.
Both ladies rocked Versace from head to toe adding their own flair. I favored Jlo’s simple, yet still statement look. How about you? Who do you think wore it better?
