On The Scene: 2018 Espy Awards with Ciara in Toni Maticevski, Draya in Nili Lotan, Odell Beckham Jr. in Versace plus more!

The 26th annual Espy Awards took place in Los Angeles last night, and although we can’t tell you much about the sports aspect of this show – we can definitely hold you down on the fashion tip.   Get into a few of the hot red carpet looks from the 2018 Espy Awards below!

Two snaps and a twist for Ciara in this gleaming yellow gown from the Toni Maticevski Fall 2018 collection!  This color popped perfect on the red carpet, and we love how the cut of this dress accented CiCi’s perfect shape.

Staying true to the old adage less is more, Draya went for sleek and simple in this Nili Lotan purple. slip dress.  She spiced her look up with a gold trimmed eye-glasses frame.

All white never steers anyone wrong when it comes to fashion.  Chadwick Boseman proved that notion in this crisp Louis Vuitton Spring 2019 look.

When your nickname is Swaggy P, you have no choice but to keep it fresh!  Nick Young attended the Espy Awards wearing a floral print Prada top paired with ankle-length metallic pants.

Lolo Jones showed a little leg on the Espy’s red carpet in this high-split Jovani Fashion gown paired with Loriblu heels.

Rounding out our 2018 Espy Awards red carpet looks is Odell Beckham Jr. in this Versace short set paired with Nike x Off White sneakers.

Who had your favorite 2018 Espy Awards red carpet look and why?

The singer’s one of a kind name plate hoops are a whopping 4.97cts of diamonds and created for her at Messika’s high jewelry Atelier in Paris. Valerie Messika was inspired by Messika’s most iconic collection Move, where the three movable diamonds symbolize Beyonce and J Zay’s children – Rumi, Sir and Blue.

Le Grand Heirs juxtaposes old and new album for a contemporary feel.

Bey loves a cut off denim short, and she almost exclusively shops at Coal N Terry! These lace ups are fabulously distressed for a cheeky feel.

Fashion Discussion: Nigerian Swimwear Brand BFyne Is Accusing Designer Silvia Ulson of Plagiarizing Their Designs

The popular swimwear brand B Fyne known for their unique designs has accused fashion designer Silvia Ulson of plagiarizing their 2017 Sahara collection inspired by the brand’s Nigerian culture. There is certainly a striking resemblance between Silvia Ulson’s collection and B Fyne’s including the sexy cutouts and bold dashiki printed swimsuits.

A B Fyne rep expressed that the team was “flabbergasted.” “It came to us as a complete surprise how another designer is allowed to showcase replicas and claim it as her work during Miami Swim Week,” Bfyne’s rep said.

There is usually a very thin line between being inspired by a designer and blatantly copying their designs. In this case it seems like Ms. Ulson has some explaining to do. When we shared this discussion on our Instagram readers had a lot to say. @_wherebklynat said, “Not only did they literally copy/paste the designs, but they also took a whole culture and plastered another on top just because they didn’t want to take the time to research. Beyond disrespectful to the designer and both cultures.” Agreed!

Gucci x Dapper Dan Launches on Gucci.com and In Gucci Flagships Worldwide

The Gucci x Dapper Dan collection has officially launched today on Gucci.com and at select Gucci flagship stores worldwide.

The lookbook, photographed by Ari Marcopoulos, features a series of portraits taking inspiration from archive imagery from the 80s showing Dapper Dan’s custom pieces and features young personalities from the neighborhood alongside with models.

The collection takes logo loving to the max with pieces that scream ‘Gucci’ with a vintage feel, uplifted by gilded accents, embellishments, and look-at-me combinations.

Gucci writes, “Dapper Dan, born Daniel Day, built up a cult following from his original Harlem shop on 125th Street in the Eighties and early Nineties. He is known for making one-off outfits for a host of hip-hop stars, street legends and athletes. His eclectic style showed his curiosity and cultural adventurousness, and this resonated with Alessandro Michele, Gucci’s Creative Director, who himself takes inspiration from a myriad of sources.”

What do you think of the collection? See anything you like?
