Show Review: Badgley Mischka S/S 2019

Mark Badgley and James Mischka, the duo designers who collectively make up the Badgley Mischka brand, were not only displaying their latest collection during this NYFW, but also celebrating 30 years in the fashion industry. The show, set up in an Alice in Wonderland-like setting, was complete with floral trees lining the middle of the runway and colorful tables and chairs for guests to sit and enjoy the show.  Champagne was poured at each seat with a bottle on ice at each table setting. Guests included Caitlyn Jenner, Alec Baldwin, Fern Mallis, Sevyn Streeter, and an array of other fashion-loving onlookers.

The ready-to-wear line includes dresses, suits, and rompers all designed for a fancy affair. Shimmering fabrics and textures crafted each piece to tell a story of springtime beauty. You could feel the celebration of 30 years in each piece!

The cutest part of the show was the debut of the mommy-and-me line. Little girls walked in dresses while hand-in-hand with models in similar dresses.  So cute!

Cheers to Badgley Mischka on 30 years!

Show Review: The Blonds Spring/Summer 2019

Disney Villains X The Blonds

When thinking about Disney in the context of fashion, Princess ballgowns typically come to mind. Evidence shows that a beautiful gown is a Princess necessity for the happily ever after with Prince Charming in the land of Disney. But what about the darker side of fairy-tales that no one connects with beauty or fashion? The Blonds answered this question with their Spring/Summer 2019 showcase which presents more as a concert than a fashion show.

The Blonds, a design duo that aims to make “glamorous clothes for pop stars”, have clothed performers such as Rihanna, Gwen Stefani, and Nicki Minaj. Now, in collaboration with Disney, The Blonds put Villains on the runway inspired by Cruella De Vil, Maleficent, the Evil Queen, Ursela, and the Queen of Hearts. These Villains quickly became heroes in this show!

This was a fashion show by all means, filled with smoke and mirrors (literally), dancing performances and celebrities on the runway. Paris Hilton served as Cruella, YouTube personality Patrick Starrr modeled as Ursela, along with transgender actor Dominique Jackson from the show “Pose” walking as Maleficent. All of the looks served, served, served!

Check out the intricate designs, meticulous detailing, coordinating Loubouton’s, and the nail art. Fun fact – the nail art for this show took over 500 hours to design.

When entertainment meets fashion and collaborates with Disney’s darker side, you get The Blonds S/S 19 Runway Show. We can’t wait to see which celebrity will be rocking this collection on stage at a concert soon.

Show Review: Vivienne Hu Spring/Summer 2019

Vivienne Hu, former investment banker turned designer, debuted her Spring/Summer 2019 collection at New York Fashion Week. The fruit and flower inspired line is crafted with an array of floral prints, plaids, silks, and velvet’s which brought to life a festive garden party down the runway.

Designed with a heavy mix of contrasting prints and fabrics, Hu also incorporates her signature structured menswear blazers but gives them a softer, fantastical touch. The blazers add a balance of subtle masculinity against the fancy frills and fabrics.

Whimsical, fun, light and romantic is what comes to mind for this collection but you can’t ignore the balance of  subtle masculinity, inspired by looking at flowers at the Botanical Garden which are surrounded by rigid architecture.

This ready-to-wear brand carries an unexpected thrill through fabrics and design.  Here are few more of our favorite looks!

You can watch the entire show here:

Thank you Vivienne Hu for the invite!

What to Wear when Relaxing at Home

When you’ve had a hard day at work, power-dressed for the office, or if you’ve spent a long day shopping, relaxing at home is one of the best parts of the day. But while you might be tempted to crawl into your PJ’s, there are some other options to stay looking good as well as feeling comfortable. If you are looking for clothing and accessories to help you relax at home, this guide gives you some tips.

Cooling Cottons

When relaxing at home, go for cotton fabrics that them you feel fresh and cool, and are good next to the skin. This is because cotton is absorbent, and helps keeps moisture away from your skin which is perfect for warm evenings. There is so much cotton clothing in stores, and the range of designs means you will be able to find something that you feel good in as well as being stylish.

Harem Pants

There is nothing more comfortable than a good pair of harem pants, and they are also a fashion item that is set to continue. The wide style leg and loose fit make them great for lounging around or practicing yoga or meditation. If you need to go out, then harem pants give you a chilled out, weekend style you can rock!

Oversized T-Shirts and Leggings

Leggings are great pants to wear around the home. The joy of leggings is that you get a comfortable fit that you can freely move around in, and are especially good in the warmer weather when you don’t want to wear sweats. Pair leggings with an oversized t-shirt for a casual look that is still on trend, or you could also go for a baggy sweater for cooler evenings.

Sweats

Sweats are great for cozy nights in, and are great to get into after wearing tight-fitting outfits all day! The good thing about sweats is that there are different brands, colors, and designs, so you can still keep your sense of style even though you are relaxing at home.

Relaxing Accessories

If you want to chill in your garden, don’t forget your sunglasses and floppy hat. Other accessories to help you relaxing might include a squeezy stress ball, earphones to play some music on, or a vaporizer may be for you, or you can find dab rigs under $100. Other accessories to help you relax might be a good book, some bathing products, or even a workout DVD to burn off your pent-up stress!

Relaxing at home helps you get over a busy day, and helps you to recharge your batteries ready for the next. Wearing comfortable clothes means you can just enjoy your time without feeling squashed or squeezed and is good also for when we feel full after an evening meal. Having the right clothes and accessories waiting for you when you get home gives you that well-earned ‘you-time,’ helping to lower your stress levels. So, next time you go shopping, why not find some stylish, comfortable clothes that make you feel and look good too?

Preparing for Winter: The 2018/19 Style Guide

At this time of year, the fashion-conscious people of the world, begin to make a flurry of purchases in time for this years winter season. It promises to be a glamorous and exciting affair, and this style guide possesses everything you need to know – and what you need to buy – on the run-down to the winter months, kitting you out to be envied and comfortable on the cooling streets.

Footwear

Youve been showing off your feet and legs all summer – its time for them to retreat back inside socks and shoes. This might amount to a devastating admittance that summer is truly over, but it also opens the way for a remarkable array of stylish and in-fashion footwear, like the thigh-high black boots that look to continue in popularity well into 2019, or the builders style steel-caps – a more punk-like addition to your wardrobe thats both practical and incredibly stylish. Treat yourself to which comfortable socks too – you know youre worth it.

Layers

As the nights draw in earlier and the land cools, its time to layer up. The question is – how to apply these layers, and how to keep them relevant and fashionable throughout the autumn and the winter and well into the spring? This is your aim when buying new layers to add to your wardrobe: youre primarily thinking about matching hues and styles. In general, autumn and winter often see flame-inspired and earthy colors to reflect a turn away from dry, hot summers – show to these hues to combine a series of knockout colors for 2018/19.

Coats

Its what brings together your whole ensemble, and thats why its so important. The coat or jacket that you select should be classy, stylish, but at all times versatile to the many situations and circumstances in which youll be wearing it. Shop long and diligently for jackets for women in order to find the exact style and color to match the majority of your cool-weather clothing. Its a one-off expense that youll wear most days, quickly making even an expansive purchase earn back its value. One such coat to keep an eye on is the old-school trench: it is certainly making a comeback in time for 2019.

Accessories

One of the greatest changes in a womans repertoire, when winter replaces summer, is that of the jewelry she wears. From sparking golds and glowing and colorful rocks, the colors tend to dim as winter closes in. Silver replaces gold – cool replacing warm – and blues and greens naturally replace the reds and yellows that are typical of summer jewelry. Bangles and the like generally fade out as you begin to wear long sleeves, but in their place, you may well decide to wear more rings to really make your ensemble pop on the streets.

These four categories are those must-consider areas thatll have you totally prepared to be stylish and envied for the 2018/19 winter season.

The Harper’s Bazaar Icon Party went down last night in New York City! While the annual event made headlines because of an unfortunate red carpet brawl, we’re going to keep it positive and focus on the fashion!
Let’s go:

Coco Rocha was a vision in red Zac Posen.

Hilary Rhoda embraced polka dots in a dress by Markarian.

Harper’s Bazaar International Editor in Chief Carine Roitfeld bet on back in a Tom Ford strapless frock.

Influencer Micah Jesse paired a printed blazer with a button down and black pants.

Cardi B looked regal in a Dolce & Gabanna Fall 2018 gown.

Kelly Rowland wowed in a white suit by George Keburia. Bomb!

Lala smoldered in a beaded Naeem Khan gown. Love this!

Christina Aguilera looked angelic in a feathered Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood FW18 RTW gown.
