5 Mind Blowing Benefits of Using CBD for Healthy Skin

Cannabidiol, generally referred to as CBD, is a naturally occurring compound, known as a phytocannabinoid, found in cannabis plants. This phytocannabinoid interacts with the body through a set of receptors and enzymes which constitute the endocannabinoid systemCBD based products contain an almost untraceable amount of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol – the psychoactive element of marijuana) meaning there are no mind altering effects, which is a big part of its appeal and growing popularity.

When CBD first made its move into the mainstream, it was found predominantly in oils and capsules, which were to be taken orally. However, more recently CBD has begun to take over the dermatological and beauty industries. This is due to the fact that CBD has many properties that make it an ideal skin care treatment, such as being a natural anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. Additionally, when taking CBD orally, you must let it be absorbed into the bloodstream before feeling any effects. When using topical application (e.g. creams and balms) you can target a specific area. Scientists have found that there are CB2 receptors in the skin which explains the effectiveness ofCBD creams. It is also suggested that when CBD is stored in the skin layers it can provide a more effective long-term relief.

Here’s a small look at just five ways that CBD is mind-blowingly beneficial for your skin.1. Pain

Studies have found that CBD is a promising natural anti-inflammatory and analgesic. Thanks to this, many people are turning to CBD for pain management for a variety of reasons. One of the most popular uses for CBD creamand pain management is to aid post workout recovery, due to the soothing anti-inflammatory effects. Scientists are also looking into how CBD could be used to manage pain in those who suffer from arthritis.2. Dryskin

When looking for a CBD product be sure to check what kind of extract is included. Products which are labelled as ‘full spectrum’ are superior in quality as they contain all the natural terpenes and compounds as found in the hemp plant, these elements work better when kept together – which is known as the ‘entourage effect’. Included in full spectrum CBD extract is vitamin E which is key to keeping skin healthy. CBD’s anti-inflammatory properties also help maintain a natural healthy glow.3. Acne

Acne is a nightmare, there’s no two ways about it. To make things worse, acne can be triggered by numerous factors and at times it is hard to know who the main perpetrator is. Components include: blocked pores, overproduction of sebum (oil secreted from the face), and inflammation. Not only is CBD a natural anti-inflammatory, this compound has also been found to regulate the production of sebum – which could prevent acne flare ups.4. Anti-ageing

Did we mention that CBD is a natural antioxidant? That’s right! This fabulous phytocannabinoid is working to combat all the free radicals that our bodies come up against everyday. Free radicals damage our cells, but an antioxidant can neutralise the negative effects – consequently keeping skin healthy and slowing the ageing process.5. Rashesandburns

Full spectrum CBD contains a terpene known as linalool which has burn-soothing properties. Consequently, people are using CBD to treat minor burns at home and as a recovery from sunburn. This, combined with anti-inflammatory properties and moisturising qualities also make CBD cream a perfect candidate for treating rashes.

Designer Bags: Before You Buy, Check Out Why…

When a shopper goes out to purchase handbags, especially designer bags it is a happy time. After all, designer bags are well made and beautiful. There is such a large selection of designer houses. Some designers have identifiable styles, colors, patterns, materials, and a uniqueness that is highly popular. Take handbags from Couture USA, as an example. While a handbag might be pricey, it is exciting, stylish, and a status symbol for ladies. Who doesn’t like to stand in front of one of the best over the door mirrors and gain confidence with a great-looking handbag? The problem is how can you be sure, you are getting the real thing? There are so many fakes, copies, and fraudulent bags;it is getting harder to distinguish if you have purchased the real gem. The responsibility of the buyer is to do a little homework before purchasing it- you do not want to be hoodwinked. Let’s take a look at some of the techniques used to make sure you got the real McCoy! By using the techniques below, you will not have to wonder why the unfortunate event of fake handbags can ruin your shopping happiness! Caveat emptor, or buyer beware- are words to the wise.

● First, never be rushed into a purchase. Make sure you have ample time to look over the bag. Always buy from a reputable store, outlet, or designer house. They will have a return policy, and back up their quality sales. This is important.

● Buying directly from a designer house or outlet sometimes offers you extraordinary benefits. Some designers offer a lifetime guarantee on their handbags. You can often go in and have the handles replaced, and stitching reinforced. This means they stand behind their product.

● Another key item to note, is that fraudulent handbag makers are now getting better at copying the outside of the handbags. This creates a shift of focus on the interior portion of the bag. Handbags from Couture USA should have a smooth cotton inside which is flexible.

● Have you ever logged onto Ebay, and noticed something strange? Ebay will often have auctions that do not seem copacetic. A designer bag will be put on auction starting at one penny. This type of a gamble is far fetched, and might very well be a warning the bag is not authentic.

● Now, watch out for the mode of purchase on fake handbags! The important thing to look out for is that if the purchase is not credible, the seller will not want you to pay with PayPal or a credit card. They do not want to afford you the process of a refund or recourse. This should be a red light.

● Ladies, you must remember that when purchasing that delightful handbag of your dreams to take a good look at the leathery outside. A true handbag made of one hundred percent leather from a cow, will usually not be less than $50! The fake dealers might be selling you what is known as PV, which is shiny, a bit hard, and the color will peel off after awhile.

● Be alert to the hardware on a designer bag from Couture. The metal chains that go over your shoulder should not be lightweight, but a bit heavy. They should not be painted a shiny gold, as well. The fraudulent manufacturers often substitute metals, to make it look real, but the weight or mass of the bag will be off.

● Beware of buying a bag from a seller who is located in Hong Kong or China. While, one doesn’t mean to snub these locations, the statistics of getting a fake bag from these places are higher!

● Couture bags will have a serial number inside printed on white cotton with black ink. Some fake handbag manufacturers put this in their bags, as well. Look out for bags with the same number over and over again.

● Designer bags from Couture USA will have certain words such as Hello or Juicy Kisses embossed into the leather, so if your run your fingers across the leather you can feel them set in the leather.

● Furthermore, when it comes to handles look for the metal studs. The metal studs should have engraving on them with key words from the designer. Look for words such as Heart, Juicy J or Crown. Also, you might see engravings with the word Scottie Dog. Be aware of the lingo language of your designer bag.

● Lastly, be aware of noticeable defects on the spot! Perhaps the bag you are looking at has a polyester fabric stitched inside. That is not authentic! Poor, sloppy stitching on the bag is an obvious clue, as well. If the leather is rough and thicker you should definitely take a closer look. Cow leather smells like leather! Handbags without serial numbers are a definite no. Another, no is the metal studs on the handles will not be engraved. All these little things to observe can save you a lot of heartache, and lost money from your pocketbook.

Well, here is the sad part. You should know that even the most fastidious researchers on authenticating designer bags can get tricked. You probably have heard that counterfeiters are getting better and better at creating these knock-offs. Some have reported that it is not only China and Hong Kong doing this but other places as well. If you travel to Bali, Indonesia you might very well be fooled by the fake handbags. Some say Bali has fake designer shops.

The counterfeit designer bags are supple, and the hardware looks good, too. However, one can easily notice the price is too cheap. These places undercut quality enterprise. One must really be careful about purchasing a designer bag from an authentic vendor. That is probably one of the best keys to not getting fooled. If you are purchasing from a designer house, ask about sales, and if they offer coupon deals. If you are buying from the direct source, you will not be in harm’s way. Check online for photographs or pictures of what an authentic bag should look like, and clues before buying.

Remember,if it can be quite confusing for a luxury handbag expert who has been working in the field for quite a while, then, it has to be a challenging problem for everyday shoppers. Let’s face it, you wouldn’t want to find out you were the purchaser of a fake diamond, so why not be savvy about your designer handbags. They are certainly an item of happiness! Do not forget, buyer beware!

8 Easy Ways to Save Money on Clothes

New clothes make life fun. Even if it’s just the act of putting on something new and standing in front of the mirror, you feel good when you do it. Clothes have this effect on people, and if you shop sensibly, you can save money and make yourself feel better at the same time.

If you’ve ever heard of how to dress for an interview then you’ll know that even though we’re told not to judge a book by its cover, we still do. Clothes play an important part in society. They even send signals to other people and tell them how to treat us.

It’s important to look your best. But you don’t have to spend a fortune to do so.

In this article, we’ve compiled eight easy ways you can save money when buying new clothes. If you follow these tips, you’ll be sure to look your best while keeping your expenses in check.

  1.  Thrift Stores Are Your Friend

Macklemore was right when he sang about thrift stores. These shops sell second-hand clothes at a huge discount. If you look around, you can find some vintage gems.

If you like fashion from prior decades, the best place to find clothing will be thrift stores.

  1.  Coupons Help You Get What You Want

Coupons are a great way to save a little extra money on things you would have bought anyway. And they’re available pretty much anywhere.

Just use your phone to search sites like GetYourCouponCodes or a similar site for the particular brand you want. You’ll most likely score some helpful coupons.

  1.  Avoid Dry-Clean-Only Clothes

The problem with dry-clean-only clothes is the cost of cleaning they accumulate over time. They might seem like great items that you’ll only wear occasionally, but you’ll have to take them to the laundry at some point.

Dry cleaning bills are considerably higher than machine washing. If you factor in the cost over a year, you’ll see that it’s just not worth spending money on dry-clean-only clothing.

  1.  Buy Clothes When They’re out of Season

A great way to save money on clothes is to buy them out of season. If you’re going to purchase summer clothes, do it in winter. All the clothes from this summer will be on sale. You’ll be ready when spring rolls around and you can ditch those sweaters.

If you’re planning to buy winter clothes then do it when summer is approaching. You’ll get all the clothes that are pricey now much cheaper then.

  1.  Take Advantage of Clearance Sales Online

When you’re thinking of buying clothes for another season or even for the current one, be sure to check out online retailers. Almost all brands have an online shop now. Check their sites for clearance sales or off-season clothing going for a lot less than they would have retailed for.

Don’t go to these sales without a list. The whole point of these sales is that it gives you a chance to buy things you need at a much lower price. But if you go in thinking you’ll get anything that you fancy, you’ll end up wasting money that you could have spent elsewhere.

  1.  Buy Most Clothes You Own from Generic Brands

You don’t need a branded white t-shirt you’ll only wear inside your jacket. The same goes for socks or underwear. Most inner clothing should be selected based on how comfortable they are, not on which brand they come from. Calvin Klein is notorious for doing this, charging a premium for their underwear.

It’s not wrong to buy a fancy coat or a dress from a designer brand you like. Just be sure not to buy any of the other items they might try to sell you.

Solid color items are always in style. Go for simple cut clothing with solid colors. They’ll always be in fashion.

  1.  Don’t Buy Workout Clothes

Wear worn-out t-shirts and comfortable shorts for working out. You don’t need designer brands or even generic brand workout clothes.

Unless you’re a professional athlete or are in a sports team, you simply don’t need them.

After all, workout clothes are not something you need to be fashionable in.

  1.  Know When to Rent and When to Buy

There are times when buying something expensive is actually better than renting it more than once. For example, take an expensive dinner jacket. Renting one might cost you around $80. If you rent it on three different occasions, you’ll have spent $240.

Now, compare this to buying a dinner jacket on sale or second-hand. You can spend much less money, and you get to keep the jacket forever.

Think of it as an investment, because clothing is an investment. The hard and fast rule should be that if you plan on wearing something more than two or three times, you should buy it instead of renting it.

The clothes we wear speak volumes about us. They tell others where we come from, what our heritage is, and what we want out of life. As such, your clothes should not be randomly put together, rather they should tell a story about the person wearing them.

We hope these tips will help you to look and feel your best. Happy shopping!

The State of Fashion December 2019: My Uber Driver Used to Work at Barneys + More Reflections on the Retail Landscape

This Christmas, I did something I haven’t done in a while: I let my laptop sit cold when it came to shopping for gifts, and headed uptown to see what I could find for friends and family.

I first went to Barney’s, who is sadly going bankrupt, and has several stewards walking up and down 5th and Madison avenues with sign suits proclaiming ‘everything must be sold!’. When in Barney’s, though offering deals, still no-one seemed to want to invest in luxury. Racks frothed over, full of gowns, brilliantly colored sweaters, and pleated skirts. I am a fashion fan, but I was overwhelmed, and left.

The tone seemed the same at Bloomingdales and Saks. Though they didn’t have large signs everywhere offering most of their wares for a steal, attentive sales associates were hard to find. In Bloomingdales, I wandered around several sections, asking for help. One man told me he was on break, another busied himself steaming. I overheard some workers saying they couldn’t wait to go home. How’s that for holiday spirit? The whole process was so tiring, that I wished I had stayed in front of the glow of my warm computer monitor and simply ordered exactly what I needed in the exact size I wanted in a just few quick clicks.

At Bloomingdales, I found what I needed, waited to get it wrapped–for an hour–then happily brought it home. My family loved most of what I bought–except two items that still had alarm sensors on them. Face palm. As I made my way back uptown in an Uber to get the sensors removed, my driver let me out. He said, “Do you work around here?” I told him, no I was making returns. He said, “I used to work at Barney’s, but they’re closing, so now I do this.”

Coming up in the fashion industry, there was nothing like that aspirational feeling of stepping into a Barneys or Bergdorfs and getting that retail experience. Trying on multiple items, receiving great customer service, getting a bottle of water or maybe even a glass of champagne to wet your palette. Granted, the lack of customer service could have been due to overwhelmed holiday employees, but the sparkle seems gone. The shopping landscape simply ain’t what it used to be.

As we’ve seen with the boom of Fashion Nova, there are billion dollar goldmines online. And the success of Zara shows that people want the luxury and quality–but for less.

All is not lost, women still have an insatiable need to shop. Mastering online is key, and for those who still rely on foot traffic, give customers the best experience ever to keep them coming back.

The State of Fashion Is: In Transition. High-Low. Mostly Online. For brands, exhaust all options to get and retain customers, because people have options and the power to choose. And they’re choosing wisely.

Virgil Abloh Says Streetwear Will Die in the Next Decade: Experts Weigh In

In an interview with Dazed Magazine, Virgil Abloh predicted streetwear is going to die in the coming decade, and consumers will, “hit this…really awesome state of expressing your knowledge and personal style through vintage.”

As a streetwear designer, that’s an interesting point of view. But not at all surprising a hypothesis–one of his best friend’s wives, Kim Kardashian, has been all about the vintage looks as of late. Is he proclaiming her a trendsetter?

Michelle Van-Ess Grant, Associate Professor Director of the Department of Student Life at FIT says, “Streetwear is certainly not dead. FIT has dedicated courses and exhibits to this genre of clothing. But like fashion, nothing ever dies–it simply reinvents itself somewhere else.”

We wholeheartedly agree, though we can see a rise in the appreciation of vintage, for sure. There really is nothing like vintage Dior and Versace!

Kim Kardashian Accused of Blackface for Tremendously Tan Photo on the Cover of 7 Hollywood Mag

Kim Kardashian was lambasted by critics for allegedly wearing blackface on the cover of 7 Hollywood Magazine.

While scrolling, many thought they were looking at Mrs. Beyonce Giselle Knowles Carter…. not Mrs. Kimberly Noel Kardashian West.

Comments on @FashionBombDaily were mixed. Our very own @vuitton wrote, “I teeter on that line that separates the public from being too sensitive from the people on the team at 7 Hollywood being so out of touch with how this appears. She definitely looks darker on the feed than when you enlarge it. Obviously overbronzed. It just bothers me the amount of hands these things go though and NO One thought before finalization to make necessary adjustments. Or to hire Joan Smalls. On Kim’s page, the picture is (smartly) lighter.”

@ThisGuuy_ added, ‘Definitely not blackface. Folks are just sensitive AF!”

I’m with This Guy. I’ve definitely seen blackface in fashion. This is not Blackface.

Also, let’s discuss the idea of cultural appropriation vs. appreciation. Appropriation is taking on another race’s aesthetic properties, cultures, and traditions without giving deference to the culture itself. Basically stealing! Appreciation is doing the same while showing respect and a genuine love. I think Kim does that. It seems she was going through a phase of appreciating vintage garments as worn by Naomi Campbell.

But she shows respect and is friends with Naomi.

She loves black culture so much, she married a rapper.

Some say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. If she wants to look like a black woman, why not be flattered instead of offended?

Do you think Kim Kardashian wore Blackface on the cover of 7 Hollywood Magazine ?

Sound off below.
