The COVID-19 situation continues to escalate rapidly. We are all concerned. Fashion Bomb Daily wants to encourage everyone and assist, we put together these tips in addition to what we already know (e.g. wash your hands, stay home, etc). . .

  1. Stay encouraged. Remember, “tough times don’t last, tough people do”. Please stay mentally strong and know this too shall pass.
  2. Have empathy towards each other. We are all affected. Never assume any person is more or less affected than you. There is often more than what meets the eye.
  3. Creatives, freelancers, small business owners, service / restaurant workers will find their income / revenue seriously impacted. Till the govt announces fed relief, be sure to check on your local or state dept website for relief that may be available. If you work for yourself or own a small business (may apply to creatives, influencers, etc), check on your eligibility.
  4. Check on each other. In case of a lockdown, people who live alone will be in isolation by themselves. Be sure to check on each other during this time.
  5. Help in any ways that you can. Those who need it are likely closer than you think. Check on friends who work in the service industry, hourly, etc. Check on your house cleaners, favorite tasker on taskrabbit, etc. Most people won’t tell you they need help, so just send them money without asking if you can. I guarantee you they’d appreciate it.
  6. Silver & Riley is still awarding the two grants of $1,000 this month. We recognize small businesses need this now more than ever. We are working having the ability to award more grants.
  7. In case of a lockdown, please stock up on non-perishable items today.

CoronaVirus and Chill: 5 Must See Fashion Documentaries Including The September Issue, UnZipped, and More!

Currently stuck inside? Add some levity and indulge in the following must see fashion documentaries:


1. Bill Cunningham New York

Bill has been snapping editors like Anna Wintour and Kim Hastreitor, dandies like Patrick McDonald and Shail Upadhya, and fashionistas like Anna Piaggi and Iris Apfel for 50 years. What was most striking about the exposé was the dichotomy between what Bill records and what Bill lives. He sits front row at fashion shows here and abroad, but he himself doesn’t own even a wardrobe full of clothes. He leads a very simple life in an apartment consisting primarily of filing cabinets and a twin sized bed. His most prized possessions are his bike and his camera. It’s fun to see his evolution and inspiring to observe his humble and tireless devotion to the craft.

2. The September Issue

This one’s a no-brainer. Go behind the scenes with Anna Wintour, the most powerful woman in fashion, as she and her editors at US Vogue prepare the all important September issue. Tune in especially for cameos from Grace Coddington and Andre Leon Talley.


3. Unzipped

Unzipped is a hilarious look at what designer Isaac Mizrahi went through as he planned and ultimately showed his 1994 collection. You’ll love Mizrahi’s infectious enthusiasm and appearances by ‘top’ supermodels, Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, and Kate Moss. You’ll also get fun glimpses of Padma Lakshmi and Carla Bruni (now Sarkozy). Bonus: you can watch this one in its entirety on YouTube.

4. Seamless

This flick, released in 2005, focused on four young designers as they competed for Vogue’s CFDA Fashion Fund award: Alexandre Plokhov of Cloak; Lazaro Hernandez & Jack McCollough of Proenza Schouler; and Doo Ri Chung of Doo.Ri. Though some names might seem familiar now, they were relatively unknown during filming–some were still working in their parent’s basement trying to make it. Out of the other films I suggested, this one is pretty slow (and borders on boring), but is a must if only to give you a background on some of the industy’s hottest talents. To whit: We see Proenza Schouler winning the CFDA Fashion Fund in 2004; they won the CFDA award for womenswear designer of the year in 2007 and are nominated again this year.

5. Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton

Though significantly shorter than other films, this option offers a look at Marc Jacobs before he was the expertly chiseled, diamond earring sporting glam god he is today. Cameras follow him from Paris to New York and back as he prepares his Marc Jacobs line and collections for Louis Vuitton.


Those are just my favorites, but there are many more that I haven’t seen: Christian Dior: The Man Behind the Myth (2005), Valentino: the Last Emperor (2008), Lagerfeld Confidential (2006), Notebook on Cities & Clothes (1989) (which follows Japanese fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto), Signe Chanel (2006), Viktor & Rolf: Because We’re Worth It (2005), Fashion Victim: The Killing of Gianni Versace (2001), Yves Saint Laurent – His Life and Times/5 Avenue Marceau 75116 Paris (2004), Catwalk (1996), and the BBC documentary The Secret World of Haute Couture (2006).

Those are on my ‘to-see’ list.

Ok, so raise your hands if you’ve been indulging in a lot more reality TV since the Coronavirus Quarantine! I plead guilty, and loved seeing the ladies turn up in Greece last night on Bravo!

Everyone fondly remembers their childhood birthday parties filled with brightly coloured balloons tied up with colourful ribbons. Many people believe that balloons are only suitable for kids parties, but that’s simply not true. Today’s high-quality balloons make decorating with balloons is easier than you think. 5 Things You Can Do During the Corona Virus Quarantine: Plan, Relax, Chill

The Corona Virus has taken the world by storm, with officials encouraging everyone to stay quarantined in their homes to avoid the spread of this infectious, contagious disease.

I work from home, so things won’t change a ton for me, though frequent event cancellations have taken me off the social circuit. Instead of popping by parties a couple times a week, I am now at home with lots of time on my hands!

In the midst of any crisis, I always think of the silver lining. And while the threat of millions becoming infected is sobering, while we are in isolation, there are many things we can do to keep our spirits up:

  1. Plan for the Year: Strategize and Prepare

Living the Bomb Life for me in 2020 has meant frequent flights, late nights, and little sleep, but now I have a chance to be still and think about longterm goals. We still have two big events coming up this year: Our NYFW show September 12th and the Faby’sDecember 12th. While in the past I might have gotten so overwhelmed that I didn’t take time to plan, this year, we’re going to get all of our ducks in a row to make sure anything we touch will be bomb!

2. Start tackling those tasks you’ve been putting off

I’ve wanted to start my Convos with Claire podcast for months! Months! But I’ve been suffering from excusitis for just as long. What better time than now to start a new venture that’s been bubbling on your mind but you’ve been putting off? There’s no other place than here, and there’s no better time than now.

3. Create!

When’s the last time you updated your blog, Youtube Page, or website? Exactly. I haven’t updated the Bomb Life in at least two weeks. That stops now. Write, vlog, and create to your heart’s content.

4. Grow Your Edges

For my myriad events, I tend to wear wigs, and honestly, the frequent use and wig glue have done a number on my scalp and edges. During this down time, I’ve gotten protective styles and am focusing on the health of my natural hair, using products like Kreyol Essence. Stay tuned for updates!

5. Corona Virus and Chill

I just finished watching the Circle on Netflix; before that I was a fan of Love is Blind. Yes! Indulge in that fun TV you might not always have had time for, or learn something new on Youtube. Feed your mind and the rest will follow!

Corona Virus is scary as it is so unknown, so be sure to take the proper precautions! Wash your hands, use Purell, and stay stay safe, y’all.
