Hey Hey!
So as you know, my morning was very busy. But I’m back in fighting form!
Let’s get some mail bombs done.
First up, Ehmonie of the blog What Haute (www.whatshauteblog.com) says, “I love this dress that Cassie is wearing…”
“…Can you tell me who the designer is? Thanks!“
Cassie is wearing this relatively affordable $190 Pencey Cummerbund Dress…
..it’s totally sold out at Shopbop, but keep checking back, as they replenish their inventory.
Next Tiffany says, “Rihanna was spotted in Atlanta this past weekend in a very fab dress! I think it’s cute and very summer appropriate…“
“Can you name the designer or give fashion bomb approved substitutes?“
Hey Tiffany. Not sure of the designer, but I think these liquid metallic frocks could be apt substitutes:
1. Graham & Spencer Metallic Jersey Dress, $243. 2. Paris Hilton Metallic Draped Back Dress, $55. 3. Miss Sixty Metallic Bikini Halter Dress, $216.
Next, self proclaimed Shoe Fanatic Anickia says, “Where can I find these shoes!?!?!!“
“…I can definitely strut in these!“
You can find Mary J Blige like lace ups at any price point:
1. Faryl Robin Wendy Lace up Roman Sandal, $95. 2. Corso Como Dutch Sandal, $154. 3. Miu Miu Lace Up Sandal, $195. 4. Acne Jeans Niara Lace up Wedge Sandal, $550.
Mona says, “I really love this dress Nicole is wearing…“
“… any idea where I can get it or something similar?“
Try these grey maxi dresses:
1. Nicole Miller Long Heather Grey Jersey Dress, $245. 2. James Perse Jersey Maxi Dress, $155. 3. Gypsy 05 Ombre Maxi Dress, $125.
I have time for just one wardrobe query!
Sharee says, “I recently saw this piece in the Temperely London Collection and would love to rock this on my 21st Birthday coming up in August...”
“.. Could you please help me find an affordable alternative??“
Sure! Here are 3 options under $300:
1. L’Ecole Des Femmes Mini Dress with Lace Contrast, $88. 2. Vanessa Bruno Athe Pintuck Dress, $262. 3. Lace Homecoming Dress, $130.
That does it for today!
Off to enjoy the weekend:)
Smootches!
Hey Everyone!!
So today’s Mail Bombs post will be a bit delayed. Why? Well, this morning, I had a video shoot for a new online TV show called CaffeineTV. Caffeine is a hip, aspirational, inspirational show showcasing young professionals in New York City, specifically women of color. Perf!
I went to my fave boutique Pieces this AM and talked ‘Fashion Bomb’ with Caffeine beauty/style correspondent Dre Brown:

We chit chatted, did a bit of shopping…

..and just had a very fly fabulous time. I’ll let you know when my segment goes live…it’ll be worth the wait!
Now off to solve Mail Bombs. Stay tuned…
Smootches!
PS My new fave accessory is my Casio Baby G Shock Watch. I’m wearing their $99 Atomic Watch in White. It’s a great summer accessory!
Hey!
So this summer has been super busy for me! Thankfully The Fashion Bomb’s awesome interns have stepped in to provide informative posts. Today new mommy Elita talks about a runway and red carpet trend: Sheer.
Enjoy!
**************************************************************************
Hey Fashion Bombers!
So one of the biggest trends on the Fall/Spring 2008 runways was sheer fabrics. From Christian Dior to Marc Jacobs, sheer tops, skirts, hemlines and cut-outs were prominent in the collections.

Sheer pieces are ethereal and can be sexy without showing off too much skin. The look is tricky to pull off, so be careful to avoid anything too see-through or that exposes too many body parts. If your undergarments are going to show, make sure they’re just as stylish (and supportive) as the rest of your outfit!
Lots of celebrities have rocked this look on the red carpet…
Kim Kardashian shows off her curves in this sheer-hemmed mermaid dress…
Alicia Keys dazzled in a similar green dress at the Grammy’s…
Thandie Newton is a big fan of sheer styles, straight from the runway…
Naomi Campbell shows off her gams in black and white Dolce & Gabbana….
Trend setter Rihanna goes for a sheer layered look in grape frock and offers a hint of abs in this detailed sheer blouse…
And Keyshia Cole goes for subtle sheer in this striped top….
Saucy!
Want to get in on the translucent trend? Try these look-for-less pieces:
1. Nanette Lepore bustier, $160. 2. “Ditsy” dress by Top Shop, approximately $100. 3. Sine blouse, $117. 4. Millions of Smiles Sheer Boatneck Sweater, $139. Â 5. T-Bags Belted Jersey Dress, $175. 6. Sheer Cropped Top, $17.80.

Loving your sheer choices Elita! Great job!

*What a surprise! Even more scans of the Italian Vogue issue. Here are your scans for today:
See more here. Everyone in NYC is saying the issue is sold out, but according to my local newsguy, the issues haven’t arrived yet. AND he told me that 500 would be coming in to just his little shop…so I don’t foresee them being sold out…but ya never know. Could this be their best selling issue ever? (Ever ever?? EVER ever???)
Hey!
So we have some uber fashionable folks here at the Fashion Bomb!
Today A-Plus intern Adriana….

…steps in to tell you guys some of her favorite stylish picks.
Enjoy!

“Hey my FB people!
Right now, summer’s got me in a bit of a feminine tomboy phase, so fitted graphic tees (especially my N.E.R.D. concert t-shirt), cute shorts, and my Liberty Fabric high-top Nike Dunks are in heavy rotation…

“…David Yurman’s Thoroughbred earrings are one of my constants as they’re a great wardrobe staple and go with either gold or silver jewelry. I’m almost always toting my Louis Vuitton Speedy 30 bag – there’s no other purse that can hold a pair of shoes, a book, and a bottle of water, and still look as small and uncomplicated. I’m a hat rather than sunglasses person, and for the last several months it’s been my Eugenia Kim Muffy cap. I’m obsessed with chunky platform shoes, and Marni’s platforms are a favorite. What’s great about this style is that I can easily swap the Dunks for the Marnis, add a silk tunic top (my favorite for a summer night on the town), accessorize with a necklace, and –voila! – I’ve got my evening look without having to give up my shorts.“
Featured: Nike Womens Dunk Shoes, $105. Louis Vuitton Monogram Canvas Speedy, $685. NERD Seeing Sounds Shirt, Price Upon Request. David Yurman Thoroughbred Earrings, $275. Rory Beca Cuffed Short, $109. Eugenia Kim Muffy Hat, $165. Marni Calf Patent Leather Platform, $334. Tibi Palm Grove Beaded Tunic Top, $298. Urban Outfitters Charming Beloved Cluster Necklace, $17.
“I’ve only got a few beauty must-haves, but they’re ones I can’t do without:”
“…I’m into skincare and lotions, and have used Creamy Petroleum Jelly for a long time daily on my skin. It’s heavy but the results are well worth it (my skin’s now so well-moisturized that I can miss a day or two of lotion sometimes). Jo Malone’s Vitamin E hand cream is a decadent treat as well as the best lotion I have ever smelled, period. Bumble and Bumble are hands-down my pick for hair care products. For evenings, I sometimes brush on a bit of shimmer powder, like Sephora’s Luminous powder Trio, swipe on some M.A.C. Lipglass, and I’m usually good to go!”
Featured: Vaseline Petroleum Jelly, $4. Jo Malone Vitamin E Nourishing Hand Treatment, $40. Bumble and Bumble Deep Conditioner, $25. Sephora Luminous Trio, $16.

What are some of your favorite things??
Smootches!
*Ruth La Ferla of the NY Times wrote yesterday about the great fashions in Gossip Girl...
…I personally don’t watch it (my bad!), but I sense a little style pilfering. Does anyone else see a subtle similarity to famous fashion hit of the 90’s….
…Clueless?
Ruth la Ferla says, “The show has given an unexpected mass appeal to patrician staples like crested blazers, layered polo shirts and kilts. When cooler days approach this fall, some retailers are predicting a run on argyle sweaters, knee socks and high boots.“
Hmmm, argyle and knee socks???
As Cher said to Amber, “Was that you going through my laundry??” [NYTimes]
*Have you heard of Jack + Bill?
They’re a new PR company, looking to represent the industry’s next style stars. They’re having an open casting call for potential clients from July 15th-16th in Sandbox Studios (250 Hudson Street, 11th Floor) in NYC…
They’ll select one model, women’s apparel designer, jewelry designer, and fashion stylist to represent (for free!) from July right up to Fashion Week in September. What do you have to lose???
*If you’re in NYC this weekend, The Fashion Bomb is on the host committee for the “Dream” Party…
Come down to Kion Lounge at 509 East 6th Street (bet Ave A and Ave B) for fun and a great crowd! Doors open at 10pm. RSVP by going to www.thedream71208.com.
*Mariah covers the August Issue of Elle Magazine…
…looking good!
*Check out a few pictures of Toccara in Italian Vogue!:

Cute! View more here. I wonder if Tyra is kicking herself? Is Tyra even in this issue?? This and more to ponder.
*For those who e-mail everyday about Italian Vogue: it hasn’t hit my local newsstand just yet. Sorry! But scans are bubbling up all over the internet if that’s any consolation…
So fedora’s have been popping up on fashionable Hollywood Divas for quite a while. The menswear inspired accessory is a quick wardrobe upgrade, as it adds a touch of cool class to anything from a dress to a t and jeans. Bonus: it instantly transforms a bad hair day ‘don’t’ to a fashion ‘do’:
Catwalker Selita Ebanks matches her chocolate fedora to an oversized plum bag…
Simmons sister Vanessa wears a traditional black version with an off the shoulder white top and jeans…
Meagan Good also goes for a black fedora, yet dresses hers up with a matching black top and chandelier earrings…
And Nicole Richie uses her more Panamanian inspired option for everything from covering up post work out hair to accessorizing for a night on the town…
Of course men, the intended fedora sporters are in on the game, with cronner Ne-Yo popping on a plaid version for a TRL Visit….
Cute Chris Brown opting for gray felt…
Fashionable male Diddy wearing his black fedora with a more dressy shirt and tie…
And even Vogue editor Andre Leon Talley wearing a feathered fancy bedazzler for Fashion Week…
Ow!Women have plenty low priced options:
1. Grace Hats Mode Hat, $38. 2. Straw Fedora, $28. 3. Summer Fedora, $48. 4. Burlap Fedora, $10. 5. Rafia Fedora in Yellow, $30.Can’t forget the Fellas!
1. Livity Fireball Fedora, $32. 2. Goorin Canterbury Loose Knit Fedora, $54. 3. Coal the Harwood Fedora, $63. 4. Christy’s Crown Carmine, $40. 5. Christy’s Open Sisal Fedora, $68.Smootches!
*Want to see the July issue of Vogue before it hits newsstands?
Here’s a video:
Music is a bit strange, but…you get the point.
*Despite the controversy surrounding the Lebron/Giselle/King-Kong cover, the issue did not prove to be a winner…
Portfolio says, “The issue sold 350,000 copies on the newsstand, according to ABC Rapid Report, well below last year’s first-half average of 452,207. It’s Vogue’s worst-selling April issue since 2001; the month is usually an above-average one for sales thanks to the annual “Shape Issue.“” Interesting. Though the issue failed to attract readers, it wasn’t the worst selling cover. That honor belongs to Gwyneth Paltrow…
…whose May cover sold a mere 310,000 copies. So the blond ice queen cover sold the worst??? Really?? Still, I bet you money Vogue will use the Lebron ‘poor selling’ cover as reason to leave African-American men out the spotlight for the next century…but Gwyneth will be on there next year. Bet you money!!! [Portfolio]
*If you love t-shirts, check out the new ultra indie underground clothing line Mumz The Werd…
…it’s made by two young California guys: Arthur, a designer, and Jordan, an independent filmmaker and visual effects artist. The cool cartoon inspired t’s (they use 3D ink and glow in the dark!) sell for $45 a pop. Check ’em at their website, www.mumzthewerd.com or on myspace at www.myspace.com/mumzthewerdclothing.
I hope everyone here in the states enjoyed your long weekend. Mine was good…too good in fact! I didn’t get a free moment to snap Real Style, but you readers always come through like champs!
Today, in the Fashion Bomb’s first international submission, we have Lola from St. Maarten:
She says, “I will be in NYC at the end of this month so I want to know: Am I NYC ready? ”
“…Attached are a few pictures of me getting my style on …
“…Please please tell me what you think!”Lola, I think you’ll fit in here just fine. Your prints are poppin, and your shoe selection is sick!
But that’s just my opinion.
What do you think?
Does St. Maarten have style?
Smootches!
*Italian Vogues aren’t yet on newsstands in NYC, but a few scans have bubbled up in cyberspace:

…looks saucy! My local newsguy said they should be available tomorrow! You’ll be the first to know!
*Ebony Magazine’s newest issue presents 25 different covers to celebrate ‘Black Coolness’:

Cool!
