Smootches!
PS See what all the buzz is about here.

Update: That was quick! I’m all sold out. I can believe it! I’m going to hit up my guy again on Monday to see about stocking up again. Stay tuned!

Mail Bombs!!!

It’s Friday…
Yippee!
First up Edrei says, “Any idea who designed the maxi dress Gabby wore to the premiere of Meet Dave??
“… I have a function next week and this would be perfect.
Intern Elita stepped in and said, “The dress is by Issa according to many sources, but there’s no way to prove it as the dress isn’t on their site. It’s a pretty typical Issa shape, though. Try this $291 Issa Silk Jersey Dress for a similar silhouette...”
I also found that this Donna Karen Fuchsia Ruched Jersey Dress gave off a similar essence…
…get it for $2,495 at www.net-a-porter.com.
Next, STW says, “I have a little favor to ask. Can you recreate this outfit worn by Vanessa Simmons at the BET 2008 AWARDS...?”
“...I will greatly appreciate it..I’m on a budget and I love her purple and white combo!
Get her look by combining the following high and low priced items:
1. Milly Ruffled Silk Top, $172. 2. Michael Kors Gold Logo Engraved Chain Belt, $48. 3. Polyester Micro-Fiber Tulip Skirt, $28. 4. Felix Rey Gold Quilted Gabby Clutch, $180.
Next, Samona says, “Can u please tell me where I can find this dress??
I couldn’t find the exact dress, but felt these came close:

1. Tocca Cream Floral Silk Dress, $213. 2. Faith Flower Dress, $22.80. 3. Jill Stuart Lindsay Cherry Print Dress, $325.50. 4. Monochromatic Halter Dress, $29.80.
Tana says, “I have a dress that these Gold Chains Madonna’s wearing would look perfect with…”
“… I’m not sure where to start looking for them…. any ideas???
Seems Madonna took a cue from Givenchy’s Fall 2008 RTW Runway…
…and went for layered look.
In your case, try throwing on a few of these $125 Six Strand Mix Chain Necklaces
…from www.intermixonline.com.
Lastly, Bella says, “I have been looking for a quality big but tastefully cute, eye-catching but non expensive, goes with just about everything Crystal ring similar to what Alicia Keys has on in her “Superwoman” video...”
“... Can you help?
Sure!
Try these reasonably priced baubles:

1. Noir Rectangle Stone Cocktail Ring, $60. 2. Kenneth Jay Lane Roud Gold Pave Ring, $145. 3. Royalty Ring, $4.80.

Tragedy + Fashion News

*Y’all, I lost my new pair of Theory Sandals in a cab last night:(

shoesrip

Said shoes during my Caffeine TV taping.
I’m beyond sad about it…I just bought them!!! What had happened was…I was leaving a party and switched into my flip flops. Jumped into a cab and put my shoes on the floor. When I got home, I paid, scooted out….it wasn’t until I reached my apartment that I realized I forgot my shoes. I ran back downstairs, but of course the guy was gone. And of course I didn’t bother to take a receipt or write down his medallion number. Aaaargh!!! So I’m posting this hoping that somehow my shoes will be returned. Sadly, in New York you lose all trust in human goodness, but perhaps my shoes won’t be lost in the abyss…
I hope this cab returns my shoes
If you too have lost anything in a NYC cab, know that you can go to this website to submit a missing items form (but if you don’t have the medallion number it’s basically useless). The only other option is to call all the police precints (4) to see if your item is in the lost & found. If not, pray that your driver turned around and dropped your cute shoes on your doorstep…dreams do come true, right?
*In other, less sad news, Fashionista reports that Vogue and IMG will team up to produce a web based reality show. Fashionista says, “[The show will be] called Model. Live, and debut August 19 in twelve, eight-minute webisodes on Vogue.tv.”
The cameras will follow three new IMG girls as they try to break into serious modeling, and the big people behind the show promise it’ll be total reality (they’ve already said they’ll tape whatever actually happens including depression, unhealthy eating habits, rejections, etc) as opposed to the “amateurs live” feel that most reality shows maintain.”
*NYMag’s blog reports that Anya Kop (who I met on Wednesday)…
…signed with Elite Model Management. They say, “She may have come in second on the show, behind Whitney Thompson, but she’s scored a spot on the agency’s development board. Booker Jose Covarrubias says the agency asked for her after the show ended.” Read the rest here. [NYMag]

Cute Fashionable Cell Phones

So,
I’m not much of a tech gal. While many of my friends lined up to get the new Iphone, I’ve been sitting contentedly with my 3 year old Samsung flip phone…

mybustedcellphone

…it works!
Well ok… it’s a little scratched and sometimes it turns off by itself. My friends have noticed and recently started dropping hints that I need to step my cell phone game up.
Celebs are already hip to the game:
Eve yaps away on a bubble gum pink cell phone…
Beyonce promotes her very own deep red compact number…
Veronica Webb goes with a utilitarian Blackberry…
Kim Kardashian shops with a white sidekick…
..and Christina Milian favors her sidekick with a splash of fuchsia…
The most fashionable boys join in on the game, with the ever fabulous Andre Leon Talley going for gold…
He better work!
Try these cute cell phones, available with a myriad of carriers…
1. Palm Centro in Pink, $100 (with plan)-$400, www.sprint.com. 2. T-Mobile Sidekick Slide, $200-$300, www.t-mobile.com. 3. Motorola W490 Bubble Gum Pink Phone, $20-$160, www.t-mobile.com. 4. Blackberry Pearl 8130, $130-$500, www.sprint.com. 5. Apple Iphone, $200-$600, www.apple.com for stores. 6. Blackberry Curve in Titanium, $150-$570, www.sprint.com. 7. Motorola MOTO Z9, $200-$400, www.att.com. 8. Nokia 7900 Crystal Prism by Frederique Daubal, Price Upon Request, www.nokiaprismcollection.com. 9. Samsung F480, price upon request, www.samsung-f480.com.
No bling for a new phone? Try a cute charm…
1. Juicy Couture Grad Cell Phone Lanyard, $35. 2. Tiffany & Co Cell Phone Charm, $125. 3. Louis Vuitton Cube Phone Accessory, $215. 4. Coach Pave Bird Cell Phone Lanyard, $48.
Slip on a headset like this fashionable Jawbone ($129 at www.jawbone.com)…
Or get cute crystal covers and bling at sites like www.letscrystalit.com or www.fashioncellshop.com.
Luckily for me, my friend Tay Tay upgraded to an Iphone…and since he has taken pity on me, he’s bequeathing me with his old crackberry. But maybe I’ll roll up to Sprint to look into that Palm Centro (in pink of course). How cute is that?

Morning Quickie: Vans by Marisa Miller and Micah Jesse

So last night I hit the town to attend a few fashionable events.
The first took place at the Cabana at the Maritime Hotel…

marisa-miller-vans

Supermodel Marisa Miller was there to celebrate her redesign of Vans…
…and there were a few fashionable folks in the house.
I had to stop and say “Hey Girl” to my buddy Robert Verdi…
…chatted it up with Anya Kop, runner up of ANTM Cycle 10…
..and met Isa, one of the few black male models to stomp in shows during New York Fashion Week…
…I’ll keep an eye peeled for him!
Afterwards, I hit up my fellow blogger Micah Jesse’s (www.micahjesse.com) Birthday Jam…
…he was there looking absolutely gorgeous…
…and I was juiced to run into my boy Indashio…
…yes those are golds in his mouth. He’s hilarious.
If you don’t know about Indashio, you need to ask somebody!!! I did a post on him here, he’s fabulous!!!
Anyway, the night was fun, fun times. Off to work…

Botkier Bags for Target + Splurge of the Day

*Botkier’s Bags for Target are now available!
Purhase your own online here.
*Y’all, I walked all around NYC today looking for copies of Italian Vogue. Most are totally sold out (boo!), but the guy I’ve been harrassing for the past 2+ weeks promises them in by Friday (yeah, he said that last week, but I want to believe him this time). It’s frustrating, yes, but you’ll be the very first to know when I (and you by extension) get my hands on one.
*Pssst, WWD says the issue is the hotness for Fashionistas:
While tech heads on Friday lined up at the Apple store to buy the latest iPhone, fashionistas evidently hurried to newsstands across New York City to get their hands on the July Italian Vogue featuring all black models. By 10 a.m., Universal News on 58th Street and Eighth Avenue, near the Hearst Tower, had already sold 50 copies, with 50 more left in stock. Hudson News in Grand Central Station sold 20 copies by 11 a.m., with another 30 left to sell. By noon, Universal News on 56th Street and Lexington Avenue had sold its last issue, and the one on 14th Street near Sixth Avenue had sold over 100 copies, with a few more left to move.
“Condé Nast prepped accordingly for the increased consumer curiosity surrounding the themed issue, where Steven Meisel shot the likes of Naomi Campbell, Alek Wek, Jourdan Dunn, Liya Kebede, Veronica Webb and upcoming names like Sessilee Lopez and Toccara Jones. A spokeswoman for Conde said the company increased newsstand distribution of the special issue by 40 percent in the U.S., and will reallocate Italian copies earmarked for returns to the U.S. The company will also print another 10,000 copies to meet the demand for the issue.” [WWD]
*NY mag reports that Kitson dropped Lauren Conrad’s and Victoria Beckham’s lines…
“Sales were lackluster,” Kitson owner Fraser Ross says,”Initially it was great.” It’s hard out there for a pimp, eh? [New York ]
*Check out the site’s new Google Search Box (Top Left Corner). Search the archives of the Fashion Bomb for endless fashion fun:)
*Fall is a ways away, but I almost started drooling when I saw this splurge worthy dress:
It’s the D& G Dolce & Gabbana Plaid Shirt Dress, $545 at www.net-a-porter.com. Maybe by September it’ll be 90% off??

Get Her Look: Kelly Rowland

Kelly Rowland was out in London recently outside of Nobu restaurant…
.. wearing a cute maxi dress with silver heels.

Rihanna for Gucci + Fashion Bomb LA Excursion

*So after my last NYC Meet & Greet, some of you asked “Claire, when are you doing a Meet & Greet in my town??
Well, Fashion Bomb super fan Vanessa took some major initiative and arranged for the Fashion Bomb to have its own Meet & Greet in Los Angeles!!!!
Woooooooot!
Come around and say ‘hey’ on July 26th from 3-7pm at Pinky Rose Boutique (5571 Pico Boulevard):
How cute is that??? I can’t wait. Give me a shout at thefashionbomb@gmail.com and let me know if you’re coming. Also, if there are a few ‘must see’ LA boutiques, designers, or shopping areas, let me know! Can’t wait for the California sun!!!
*WWD reports that Rihanna will be appearing in Guccis’ first ad campaign highlighting its collaboration with the United Nation’s Children’s Fund, UNICEF.
Shot by photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin in Paris, the ads will appear in December magazines. There are also rumors of her starting her own fashion line!!! Would you buy Rihanna couture?
*I do believe that the July issues of Italian Vogue have touched US shores. Stay tuned for updates; they should be available in the Fashion Bomb shop as early as tomorrow! For now, check out all the scans here.
*Malcolm Harris blogs about a meeting with Arlenis.
