Way back in July 2007, curious Fashion Bomber Lindsay wrote in about a mysterious sexy dress she noticed popping up on every red carpet imaginable. She said, “Who makes those dresses that many celebrities such as Rihanna, Solange, Ciara, and Kim Kardashian have been wearing?”
“…I saw a picture of Solange wearing a fuschia one, Rihanna wore a pink one, and Kim has one in like every color of the rainbow!“ We did a little research, and found the dresses in question were Herve Leger. It was an exciting time: we loved the frock’s silhouette and sultry cut. Fashion Bomb stars also couldn’t get enough:
Now that seemingly everyone on the celeb circuit has a Herve Leger in their closet, does it have the same appeal? I personally start to roll my eyes when I see one. “You’re having a party. Banded skin tight dress? How creative…“ Are you similarly suffering from HL overload?
I actually love the idea of holiday sweaters for women, but the jury’s still out for men. Part of me thinks it’d be really cute, part of me thinks the look would be a little suspect. Would your man rock this?
While you mull it over, a gratuitous Pharrell picture: Yum! Can I have him for Christmas??
Hey!
So while I’m in Paris, I of course have my chic barometer out for dope designers on the French front. One that should definitely be on your radar is Dumpe Fresh:
Appealing to the fashionable urban set, Dumpe Fresh offers a line of playful, bright t-shirts, hoodies and sweatshirts. A few shots:
With T-shirts starting at $37 and hoodies averaging $70, Dumpe Fresh pieces are certainly affordable wardrobe upgrades. And I could see anyone from Teyana Taylor to Kanye West rocking one of their t’s!
It seems they have events here in Paris, so I’m going to try to check them out in person. For you guys in the States, visit their myspace page at www.myspace.com/dumpefresh, check out their online store at www.dumpefresh.com or read their blog at blog.dumpefresh.com.
Bisous!
Sophisticated designer Rachel Roy popped in to the Cinema Society and Entertainment Weekly screening of “The Wrestler” last night at the Tribeca Grand Screening Room:
I’m a sucker for shoe boots and I want to applaud her creativity in refashioning an oversized jacket into a dress. Edginess is always hot, but this look makes me go hmm…
What do you think?
The Fashion Bomb readers are super savvy, talented individuals, and 16-year-old Lovetta Conto is no exception!
A survivor of Liberia’s civil war, this young entrepreneur and finalist for the 2008 International Children’s Peace Prize decided to use her talents in jewelry design to help others. Fashioning necklaces and bracelets out of bullets left behind from the war, Lovetta sells her creations to raise money for the renovation of a war-ravaged hotel in Liberia that will soon be home to other gifted youths from challenging circumstances.

Turns out Lovetta loves the Fashion Bomb! She became a fan when she moved to the US from a refugee camp in West Africa–the good old TFB was her first bookmarked site and one of the reasons she learned to use the internet! Wow.
The young stylista hopes to create her own teen fashion magazine in Africa. You can do it girl!

When you were young, did you would make Christmas Lists??
Lord knows I did! I’d painstakingly draw the tree with crayons, detailing the ornaments down to the star, then list my most coveted toys below. I was always a dreamer!
Today Adri and I are taking it back, giving you our fashionable Christmas wish lists–a few well edited items we’d love if a recession proof Santa swung by. For me, a coat is the most important item in the winter months: you wear it all the time, and it’s usually the most memorable element of your outfit. I have my eye on a classic Burberry that will help me weather the Parisian chill while staying chic! My old Marc Jacobs black leather tote has taken a beating, so I’d love to upgrade with a Chocolate Guccissima Handbag, then of course replenish my stock of jeans, cashmere, and classic shoes while throwing in a few affordable wildcard items for style:
1. Curb Your Enthusiasm, $16. 2.Absolutely Fabulous Season 5, $19. 3. Family Guy Volume 6, $21. Adriana says, “Claire was definitely more of an artiste–I was the one who’d spend hours looking through catalogs, marking them so my mom would make no mistake about what I wanted!“
“Right now what I’d love more than anything is an oversized, vintage Chanel caviar bag: decadent and classic, yet roomy enough for everything I haul around daily! I also just recently bought myself an early Christmas gift: a Mackage coat (obsessed with them). And, of course, there’s always some pair of shoes or outfit I have on the brain.“
