Real Style: Boombox

Hey!
So it was Men’s Fashion Week in Paris, and parties were poppin’ with lots of fashionable folks. A friend and I went to a Boombox party at a club called Regine’s close to the Champs Elysees:

Boombox is a notorious party described by Time Out as, “one of the wildest parties in the world, splicing freaky fashion, a fierce musical mix and carefree flamboyance.” I scanned the crowd for a Fashion Bomb worthy diva and came upon this fierce fashionista:

It was honestly too loud for me to hear her name or the designer of this dress, but I loved her frock’s cinched waist, eye catching metallic material, and open back. And check out her pose!
What do you think of her style?
*There’s more where that came from! Check back next week for the following installment.

Designer B Michael On Criticisms of Michelle Obama

Not all African-American designers are up in arms over Michelle Obama’s Fashion Choices! Designer B. Michael

…issued the following press release after the Black Artists Association expressed their distaste:

For the record I would like to state that the statement made on behalf of the Black Artists Association does not represent my point of view.
I understand their sensitivity and respect their right to express it.
I personally believe it is an unfair expectation to place on the First Lady. Fashion is subjective and a matter of personal choice.
As a designer of Color I would encourage the fashion industry, editors and media to lead the way and be more inclusive. True change in America is going to be a collective effort.
As an American Designer I am excited that Mrs. Obama, in her role as the First Lady, will heighten the awareness of American style which resonates into business and jobs in the fashion industry.”
I applaud Mrs. Obama for her style and her choices. Most of all for wearing what really matters, dignity and grace.”

Well said!

Lastly, Jaida from the Blog The Coolest Period says, “I’m supposed to be going out to party with my sister for her birthday next weekend. I don’t usually go out so I don’t have anything to wear. I have skinny jeans and flats but all the tops I have are too casual and my flats are a little too casual too. Any suggestions? P.S. I’m a plus size college kid with limited funds. LOL I usually shop at American Eagle, Gap, Target, and Old Navy.
Suzy says, “I understand limited funds, I’m a college student myself! For tops you want something flirty, sexy or glamorous to pull off with jeans. Ashley went the plus sized route as well, offering this advice, “I think nothing compliments an edgy skinny jean more than a flirty, romantic blouse. Also, throw on a pair of flats in a jewel tone that absolutely pops!” She offered a dozen options, here are a few of her suggestions:

fashion-bomb3

Today is the last day of the intern contest. The candidates were given 5 Mail Bombs to solve, and each searched for the best answers. Here’s part one, where the hopefuls help solve a few celebrity wardrobe questions:
Sabine says, “I really like this coat that Kim has on in this picture...”
“…I’m still looking to buy a coat, especially this color, can you find one just like hers except cheaper because hers is probably really expensive?

1. Delia’s Kelsey Peacoat, $79.50. 2. Faux Fur Collar Tweed trench coat, $119. 3. TFNC wool rich button tie waist coat, $89.

Hot! or Hmm…:Rihanna at the Feeding America Ball

One shoulder styles are certainly a hot spring trend, and no one shows it off more than Fashionista of the Year Rihanna, who wore this yellow Jasmin di Millo bubble dress to the RIAA and Feeding America Inauguration Charity Ball in Washington, D.C…

I adore yellow, and this color complements Rih Rih’s skin tone, but something about the bust of this dress makes me go Hmm….
