Hey!
Vuitton here to put you guys onto one of my fave new designers: Band of Outsiders.
For their newest collection, designer Scott Sternberg took a very delightfully interesting approach. Noted for its quirkiness, the line stayed true to form while giving a more polished look–and the shoes, made in collaboration with Sperry Top-Sider, were nothing short of amazing.
The single breasted blazers were perfectly tailored with contrast stitching along the lapels, pockets, and near the buttons:

The line also introduced very interesting gray sweatpants, tailored for versatility. You can pretty much go from day to night in them:

The collection also proved that double-breasted coats and blazers that fit perfectly will never go out of style.

Needless to say, I love everything about this collection. From the cuff at the bottom of each impeccably tailored trouser to the clip-on ties. The color scheme of this collection was brilliant as well. For more looks, check it out here.
What do you guys think of the Band of Outsiders Collection for this season?

This week in chic was peppered with Oscar after-parties, London Fashion Week, and bowties for the gents:

Will and Jada are flawless but my sentimental favorite is, of course, First Lady Obama. Almost nothing’s chicer than watching her represent!

Stunning first lady Michelle Obama chose to wear a $395 Tracy Reese Guipure Lace Kimono Dress for a People Magazine cover hitting newsstands Friday:

Hmmm…I wonder if the Black Artists Association is satisfied now that Mrs. O has chosen to wear a black designer?
Or was that story a fabrication?
Jezebel reviewed runway lineups to see if designers were including more models of color. The result? There was definitely an uptick:

They say, “There were 116 labels that held shows at the recently ended New York fashion week; that’s 3,697 spots in runway and presentation lineups. Of those, 668 were given to models of color ” which, at just over 18%, is 6% better than one year ago. (And certainly better than in the fall of 2007, when WWD reported that one-third of the New York shows used no models of color at all.)“
They went on to say, however, that 7 shows had no models of color. These included: Altuzarra, Davidelfin, Jenni Kayne, Julian Louie, Koi Suwannagate, Temperley London, and Vera Wang Lavender Label.
They also found that 19 shows had models of color, but no black models. The perpetrators? Alexandre Herchcovitz, Behnaz Sarafpour, Costello Tagliapietra, Erin Fetherston, Halston, Marchesa, Max Azria, Milly, Miss Sixty, Monique Lhuillier, Nicole Miller, Philosophy, Reem Acra, Tibi, TSE, United Bamboo, Vena Cava, VPL, and Vivienne Tam.
Do you think differently about a brand if they don’t make diversity a priority?

All the designer elements are there, and those Balenciagas are the business!
What do you think? Hot! Or Hmm…
