Michelle Obama just keeps the magazine covers coming, and definitely looks fab at each take. This time, she’s on the cover of O Magazine with Oprah herself–the first time anyone else has been on the cover in the magazine’s nine year history. With Michelle in Michael Kors and Oprah in Rachel Roy, the glamour literally jumps off the page.
So we’re taking it way back today. I was probably 6 or 7 when this one came out, but I still blast on my iPod when I’m getting ready to hit the town. You know some of you love it!
We received a ton of wardrobe queries, but I only have time to answer a couple! Dana Nichole says, ” I was hoping you could assist me with locating some reasonably priced chic yellow ‘faux’ croc stiletto sandals. I have not been able to find any that give me that: ‘make-me-wanna-slap-my-momma’ (and dare her to say something or I might need to slap her again) kind of feeling.“
At $159, they’re pretty affordable, and the snake gives off a croc-like exotic feel. Hope they work!
And lastly Anthonia says, “I went to Intermix yesterday for a pick me up and fell in love with this black silk layered ruffle mini skirt.“
” It was the perfect length and the ruffles were close to the body and not at all like an Ice-capades costume. The only problem is I’m a grad student on a budget – $295 just isn’t working. Do you know of any cheaper options?”
If you haven’t heard about Judith Leiber purses, now’s the time to know! Very extravagant and a favorite of well-known stylist, Rachel Zoe, you’re bound to turn heads if you’re rocking one of these crystal embellished bags.
This one is called Heart N Soul, and at $2,200 a pop, I’d say it’s worth it if the economy isn’t affecting you.
Tennis champ Serena Williams was spotted recently in NYC rocking a chic Yves Saint Laurent Muse,Christian Louboutin pumps, and a fur trimmed coat in chic slimming black:
While she typically toes the line between certified stylista and fashion faux pas, this time around she looks hot!
So last night my buddy and I went out to a few fashion week festivities!
We started at Hotel Costes, then made our way to Magnifique, a cute boite in the 1st arrondissement. Imagine my surprise when I ran into Fashion Bomb friend Andre J:
Word on the street is that he’s making the Paris Fashion Week rounds with Carine Roitfeld (remember, he graced the cover of French Vogue once upon a time).
Will keep you posted on other Fashion Week sighting and what nots.
Hey Lovelies!
So Paris Fashion Week started yesterday. I was hesitant to write about it because I’m pretty green to the Paris scene, and didn’t know if I’d get an opportunity to go to any shows. Thankfully a few fashionable friends came through, and I was able to drop into the Rick Owens show today at Les Beaux Arts de Paris:
I chose my French Connection fur trimmed ivory coat for the occasion, along with a pair of Oliver Peoples Sunglasses!
My friend and I made our way to the venue, and let me tell you, it’s very different from New York Fashion Week. How? Instead of being in one place, the shows are scattered around Paris. Also, it seems you have to definitely know someone at the door to slide past the 5 layers of security:
After a bit of banter back and forth, we got in, and entered the dark room:
The room was full of fashion all stars. I spotted Kate Lamphear and Anne Slowey of Elle Magazine, Robin Givhan of the Washington Post perched front row right next to Anna Wintour (along with Morley Safer, who’s interviewing La Wintour for a 60 Minutes Special), Suzy Menkes of the International Herald Tribune and of course, la piece de resistance, Carine Roitfeld of French Vogue. I stopped gawking for a moment to take in the show. Rick Owens brought his typical avant garde flair: jackets with asymmetrical silhouettes, a subdued color palette of black, gray, and champagne, and lots of space agey details.
Not quite my style, but I could see how some of the black pieces could fit seamlessly into any wardrobe and how a few of the less edgy items could become classics over time. I also caught the final walk thanks to my Flip:
I have a few more shows on my platter. This and much more from Paris!
Bisous!
