June Ambrose was announced as the Creative Director of Puma Basketball last year, and her role has expanded and elevated to creative direction of their latest collection. Ambrose, a veteran visionary who helped create some of the most iconic imagery of the 90’s via her clients like Missy Elliott, P. Diddy, and Jay Z, brought her singular flair to Puma’s latest foray, infiltrating the sportswear brand with glamorous, unexpected silhouettes and textures.
The show opened up with a video, followed by multiple group performances, before giving way to a show that mixed sport with style and hip hop flavor.
June is single handedly bringing fashion back to Puma, offering jumpsuits, pants, and jackets in bright, bold colors with unexpected details like drawstring waists and shoulder flaps. She also introduced some evening wear, as modeled by Winnie Harlow, who worked the runway in a sparkle addled top, floor sweeping skirt, and Puma sneakers.
June has fun with fashion, and her infectious energy and boundless creativity were evident with each look.
Tom Ford is a master at this craft. The former President of the Council of Fashion Designers of America typically triumphs because he simply knows what women want: to look and feel beautiful.

His latest foray was all about shimmery sequins, spied on lithe cocktail gowns and oversized doorknocker earrings that will undoubtedly be the must have accessory of next season. Women were encouraged to shine via embellished tops and shorts, with models glimmering in laminated pants under the runway lights.
Another pervasive theme? Western style tops, equipped with fringe and light catching luxurious embroidery. We’re sure that front row attendees like Lori Harvey, Ciara, and Madonna will be sporting high fashion Western wear and foil like coordinated sets for nights on the town.

While everything was bomb, the most memorable looks were the final gowns, modeled by Gigi Hadid, Bella Hadid, Liya Kebede, and Joan Smalls. The Amazonian models were all outfitted in sequined looks of various colors, with earrings that simply stole the show.
According to Ssense, “Maisie Schloss, the designer behind the euphoric L.A.-based label, Maisie Wilen, is the first recipient of Kanye West’s Incubator grant for emerging designers. The Chicago native, who holds a degree from New York’s Parsons School of Design, spent three years working as womenswear designer for West’s coveted brand Yeezy, refining her craft, before launching her own line in 2019. Maisie Wilen’s singular aesthetic, one which has garnered industry-wide attention for its playful mix of sportswear with 90s-inspired eveningwear, has quickly established itself as a Kardashian-Jenner favorite. Inspired by rhythmic gymnastics and robots, Schloss’ collection is fluid yet calculated: ergonomic mini skirts, blazers, leggings, tops, and dresses feature nostalgia-inducing CPU-like graphic patterns. Constructed out of technical fabrics, Schloss’ form-fitting garments reveal sophistication in their subtle detailing: ruching, low back constructions, and cut-outs make for a collection that is equally irreverent in spirit as it is elegant in execution. Admist discreet references to her Yeezy past, Schloss has truly established Maisie Wilen as a one-of-a-kind label to watch.”
Spring 2023 for Maisie Wilen offers gender neutral, size inclusive pieces featuring digital prints and multiple faces, set by a green screen, a nod to our current cultural obsession with virtual reality and Zoom calls.
The brand’s perforated turtlenecks, nebula trousers, and muscle beach tanks were reimagined for a new audience. The must have prints for next year will include water droplets, renderings of space, and what appear to be security signs, splashed onto latex.
I’m always a fan of patterns revised and updated in cool ways.
Electric color schemes and audacious sex appeal are part of what make up LaQuan Smith‘s brand DNA, be it Summer, Fall, Winter or Spring! You can always expect the unexpected when it comes to this star designer’s fashion week collections, and this season the likes of La La Anthony, Aoki Lee Simmons, Shantel Jackson, Model Roz and our EIC Claire Sulmers sat in those runway-side seats to witness LaQuan Smith designs do what they does best – slay! Here are four reasons why we’re still obsessing over the LaQuan Smith SS23 fashion show during New York Fashion Week!
1. The breastplates
Breastplates are gradually becoming more and more of a thing on the runway! You may even say the breastplate/chest plate is one of the it styles emerging out of the 2020s. Be it as it may, the breastplate isn’t always the most wearable of fashion statements, however LaQuan has managed to render it high fashion yet accessible throughout this collection, accentuating the female form in novel ways, and we’re excited about it!
Signature LaQuan Smith is never heavy. It’s light, delicate, and often translucent. What we love the most is that LaQuan always finds new ways to incorporate sheer materials, and this year it was through PVC and patterned chiffons. We call dibs on the yellow trench!
Taking us back to the ’90s, Smith made a nod to the effortless elegance of his mentor through tie-neck tops, glitzy sequins and silhouettes originally fashioned by Tom Ford.
Jason Wu presented chic, sophisticated, supremely feminine pieces for his Spring 2023 show:

Wu’s longtime fans will be able to appreciate the creativity, yet timeless elegance of each piece.
Earlier this week, Cardi posted images of her exiting a Queens courthouse in an all white square-neck, trumpet sleeve dress with the caption reading “Everyday the sun won’t shine, but that’s why I love tomorrow”. The dress by Proenza Schouler retails for $1,290 on Nordstrom.
Keeping the good vibes going, Cardi celebrated her close friend T Styles’ birthday in another look styled by Kollin Carter. He dressed her in a modified version of Maison Alaïa’s Spring 2022 look 24 dress. This look could also be yours for $5,200 – get the look below!
With New York Fashion Week Spring-Summer 2023 now behind us, we can finally take a good glance back at some of the best fashion moments by our favorite style divas – namely, Lori Harvey! Lori had been on a style streak during the first part of NYFW, and it’s all thanks to her epic stylist Elly Karamoh with whom she works collaboratively on a regular basis.
For the first ever Vogue World Show in celebration of their 130th anniversary, Lori put on what she described as a modern Barbie look. The white bustier and multi-colored feather skirt pulled from look 10 of Saint Sintra‘s debut collection! She kept it simple and clean with the hair and makeup, and opted for something classic yet different with the Louis Vuitton Iconoclasts Frank Gehry twisted bag and her signature $730 white Christian Louboutin Iriza heels.

At the Maison Valentino dinner party, Elly styled Lori in Valentino’s Fall 2022 look number 41: a full black, long-sleeve mini dress with trumpet sleeves, nylons and pointed platforms.

Lori wore yet another Fall runway look, this time to the Michael Kors show. Lori looked comfy and cozy in look 35 from the collection, and Elly took to Instagram to explain “The NY fitted has always been one of my favorite accessories to style. I figured since we are in NYC celebrating an American designer it’d be a perfect fit.”

The abs were on display in this last look for the Tom Ford show! Channeling masculine chic, Lori stepped out in an olive toned suede suit styled with gold chains. Her hair was braided up by Ray Christopher, feeding into the menswear inspiration behind the look and making way for understated sex appeal.
