You Should Know: Phlo Finister

Hey Bombshells!

So today I’d like to introduce you to our new intern…

Sean-Garrette

…17-year-old fashion enthusiast Sean Garrette!

You might have noticed a few Fashion Quickie’s he’s sent our way in the past couple weeks. The definition of driven, Sean eschewed traditional rules, simply writing us on an almost daily basis with great ides and a slew of well researched, complete style articles.  We hadn’t even advertised for an intern, but he kept at it, and his persistence paid off!

Vuitton has been promoted from intern to Fashion Bomb reporter (woot!) and today Sean Garrette gives us his first official Fashion Bomb ‘tern post on up and coming stylist, Phlo Finister:

phlo6

A fashion editor for Persona Magazine and stylist to the salacious new pop group Elektrik Red.

Elektrik Red

Let’s read on!
Sean says, “The Oakland born and LA raised Phlo got her start on a shoot with Jim Jones where she met Christopher, an Editor of Persona Magazine. Impressed by her style and fashion sense, he offered her a styling and editor job on the spot.”

phlo4

With a style influenced by, “Life, and people who live freely,” Phlo is also a model and candidly told Sean, “It’s a full time job of not eating and wearing amazing clothes.” Ha!

phlo3

In an interview with Bossip, Phlo revealed she got started on her fashion track when she was 5-years-old and first put on her grandmother’s YSL pumps with red lipstick to play dress up. A few short years later and you can now find her modeling for Brian Lichtenberg, American Apparel, Maxine Dillion, Rojas and styling shoots for Electrik Red, Ibn Jasper, Rich Hill and Melyssa Ford.

Both Sean and Phlo show that age is nothing but a number. And if you really want something, you can make it happen!

Stay tuned for more of Sean Garrette’s articles! And keep an eye out for Phlo, who will be dropping a mix tape in August and is working on a blog called Pholove.

Bisous!

Steal of the Day : Normal Watches

I recently stumbled upon Normal Watches, timepieces in candy colors featuring fun phrases like “Facebook Ruined my Life,” “Obama Yes We Did,” and “Love is the New Hate:”

Normal Watches

Normal Watches

Witty and endlessly affordable, these conversation starters start at $20 and top off at $38. Not so bad for a funky yet functional accessory.

See more watches at www.normalwatches.com and purchase here.

Splurge of the Day: Steven by Steve Madden Demetra Strappy Open-Toe Pumps

Steve Madden’s upscale Steven line has quite a few gorgeous picks, and I personally like these $150 Demetra Strappy Open Toed Pumps:

I love the shoes’ bright burst of color and edgy cut outs! If you like the style but are more of a subtle gal, the shoe also comes in taupe and black.

Swagger Mondays: Stephone from Boston, MA

Today, Swagger sends us this Real Style photo of Stephone, a young Bostonian who makes the ’60’s look fresh and modern:

StephoneClose-Up1

His vintage navy high waisted pants, striped shirt, and magenta bow tie are only outdone by his spectacular blond streaked updo.

He gets three snaps for having the courage to flaunt such a bold style with quiet confidence.

I see you Stephone!

Does he have Swagger?

PS Stephone has a blog called Pahk Ya Cah. If you’ve ever lived in Boston, you get the joke! Check it out at www. pycboston.blogspot.com.

Who Wore it Better? Amerie vs. Amber Rose in Alexander Wang

Last night Amerie and Amber Rose encountered a fashionista’s nightmare:

Amerie Amber Rose same Alexander Wang Backless Dress

Wearing the same dress to the same event!

While Amber splashed up her Alexander Wang Backless Dress with sunglasses, diamond earrings, and round toe pink pumps, Amerie went for an edgy vibe with Alexander McQueen peep toe booties.

Both women are veritable beauties who rocked the mess out of a hard to wear dress…but who wore it better, bombshells?

Video: I’ll Get You by Classix featuring Jeppe/ Kitsuné x The Cobrasnake EP

So I was on our Real Style subjects’ blog, www.pycboston.blogspot.com, and was assaulted by this video that came on as soon as I opened the window:

Ill-Get-You-Screenshot

I generally disdain music that comes on as soon as I open a site, but after listening for a sec, I liked Pahk Yah Cah’s little theme song! It’s a cool summer track, and the video just makes me want to chill at the beach!

Enjoy!

Now to find the track on Itunes…
